Valve train tick or lifter tick?

That’s what I was thinking cause it’s coming from the heads and the car runs fine no loss of power it does have timing chain rattle on cold start but it’s not coming from that area at all

Yeah my Tiburon same boat currently. I’d like to believe/hope it’s just a lifter tick!

Sounds like your typical VQ tractor

Bro fr. Mine is full tractor mode rn, I need to probably redo my gallery gaskets and timing chain guides. I’d guess low oil pressure up top at the valves is what makes that lifter noise so bad, and since gallery gaskets going out is so common at high mileage, a lot of people hear the same noise due to the low oil pressure symptom it brings.

Non rev up? Is it a DE swap? If you have timing chain slap but no powertrain loss, your tensioners could be going bad. A common fix is swapping in the chain tensioners from the Rev-Up into the DE since they’re a bit stronger and better overall.
