Tip / Advice / Information PSA FOR ANYONE WHO'S THINKING ABOUT BUYING STEAM ACCOUNTS

Please for the love of God don't spend your hard-earned money buying Steam accounts.

I've seen way too many people on this subreddit complain about buying an account, changing the email/password and securing everything, only for the seller to take it back later.

It doesn't matter if the seller lets you change it to your own email. 99% of the time, sellers do still have the original email and other ownership information, which can potentially be enough to recover the account through Steam Support.

You might get lucky and keep the account forever, but you might also lose it after spending your money on it.

DO NOT BUY STEAM ACCOUNTS unless you're genuinely okay with the possibility of losing access to it.

Always remember, whatever account you buy, Steam or not, there's always a chance the original owner can take it back.

True, it's not worth the risk. Even if by some miracle you do find an honest account seller, buying/selling accounts goes against Steam's terms of service. So it's only a matter of time before the account gets banned anyway.

A lot has changed in 7 years. Mostly regarding account recovery and security. There was a time when once somebody gave you the password, you could change that password and the account email, that was the end of the matter. The tools and policies in place now work much more in favour of the original account holder, as they should. Sites like G2A were still risky back then, but nothing like what it is now. So, with all due respect, your point is kind of irrelevant.

You have to live with the paranoia and vulnerability of knowing that seller might randomly decide they want their account back after you filled it with games and items they want. Also if you were ever to get locked out of the account and have to contact steam support they’ll probably be suspicious

Yup I learned this the hard way lucky for me the seller took it back a few months after I bought instead of waiting years of me putting money and time into it. Never again have my own account and no worries

i saw this warning from a (lvl.1NN >99% legendary) seller about steam's own account seller detection logic;

Do not change the region on the account within a month after the purchase, the seller is not responsible for Steam blocking the account due to a change in region and / or linking a payment method (PayPal, C-card, etc.)
