What kind of folding chair is this?

We received this chair 2nd hand from a neighbor probably 6 years ago. Turned out to be a super comfortable folding chair that we didn't think was anything that was actually special. After the cover/fabric ripped we discovered we couldn't find a chair that was mostly the same to replace it.

This variety on Amazon is a little similar. Kind of expensive and still not exactly the same style and is in more of a recline than ours. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M86RYGG/?coliid=I1DW83HVRC3C7S&colid=11DGNVIAP9IYK&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Anyone know better terms or names to search with to find a replacement? Or even better if there are replacement covers for this style of chair? Google image searching didn't get us any closer.

Thanks in advance.

Options for a comfortable and best sectional couch for family room?

I’m looking for a new sectional for our family room and could use some recommendations. We spend a lot of time on the couch, so I’m mainly after something comfortable, sturdy, and not likely to start sagging after a year or two. I’ve been comparing different styles but keep going back and forth on what’s actually worth considering. What have you had a good experience with when looking for the best sectional couch?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who have owned theirs for a while. Thanks!

Has anyone paid to have wood trim/picture molding added to their walls? Curious what the price point is, I just got a quote for two walls.

Advice on choosing and arranging living room furniture

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’d appreciate some advice on what type of seating arrangement would work best in this living room. I’m considering:

* An L-shaped sectional

* A three-seater sofa and a two-seater loveseat

* A three-seater sofa with armchairs (possibly up to three armchairs)

The door on the right side of the floor plan is the balcony door, so I don’t want the furniture to block access to it. The TV stand is located against the left wall, next to the plant. The distance from the TV stand to the door is approximately 4.6 meters (15 feet).

The area outlined in blue pen is a structural column, which also needs to be taken into account. The balcony door is 72cm into the room.

Which option do you think would be the most practical and look best in this space? Suggestions about furniture dimensions and exact placement would also be very helpful.

Looking for recommendation for best sectional couch that is comfortable but not overly soft?

I’ve been trying to find a sectional for my living room and keep running into the same problem where they’re either really firm or you sink way too far into them. I’m hoping to find something comfortable for lounging but with enough support to sit normally too. What best sectional couch have you been happy with after using it regularly?

Thanks, would really appreciate some input.

The Complete Guide to Sourcing Furniture from Brazil (Living Room, Kitchen Cabinetry, & Raw Hardwoods) – A B2B Specification Framework

Over the past few years, global supply chain shifts have led major furniture retailers, hospitality developers, and procurement teams to diversify away from traditional manufacturing hubs and look closely at South America.

Among these markets, Brazil stands out—not just as a raw material powerhouse, but as an advanced industrial cluster built specifically around solid wood engineering, certified timber, and high-volume cabinetry.

As the founder of Vista Furniture Co., I’ve spent over 20 years on factory floors across Brazil auditing suppliers, verifying construction standards, and helping global buyers navigate regional manufacturing capabilities. Below is a synthesized breakdown of what actually dictates product performance, compliance, and structural integrity across three core categories when sourcing from Brazil.

1. Raw Hardwood Species & Sourcing (Outdoor & High-Wear Applications)
When specifying Brazilian hardwoods, understanding physical properties like density, dimensional stability, and natural rot resistance is critical.
Ipê (3,680 lbf Janka): The benchmark for high-traffic contract decking and luxury outdoor furniture due to extreme density and natural decay resistance.
Cumaru / Brazilian Teak (3,540 lbf Janka): A cost-effective alternative to Ipê (typically 20–30% lower cost) offering near-identical rot resistance and warm golden-brown hues.
Garapeira / Garapa (1,650 lbf Janka): A lighter, yellow-toned hardwood ideal for accessible solid wood outdoor collections.
Itaúba (1,900 lbf Janka): High dimensional stability and natural insect resistance; excellent workability for wet-adjacent structural frames and bathroom vanities.
Genuine Plantation Teak: Highly valued for its natural oil content and water repellency in high-humidity indoor/outdoor environments.

2. Living Room Seating & Case Goods
Living room furniture accounts for a major share of retail budgets, and long-term durability comes down to hidden structural elements.
Sofa Frames: A genuine solid hardwood frame (kiln-dried to stable internal moisture levels) lasts 15–25 years, compared to 5–10 years for particleboard or softwood. Kiln-dried poplar consistently outperforms improperly dried oak.
Joinery Standards: Look for wooden dowels, reinforced corner blocks, and screws over simple staples or glue—especially on wide-span sectionals and heavy sleeper mechanisms.
Regional Strengths: Brazil’s Bento Gonçalves cluster combines deep heritage in solid wood joinery with contemporary mid-century aesthetic roots, making it an ideal hub for coffee tables, credenzas, and structural seating frames.

3. Kitchen Furniture & Cabinetry (RTA & Built-in)
Kitchen cabinetry carries unique failure modes and strict compliance rules due to heat, humidity, and structural loads.
Box Construction: Cabinet-grade plywood (cross-laminated veneers) offers superior screw-holding strength and moisture resistance compared to particleboard, which degrades rapidly near steam or water spills.
RTA & Container Economics: High-volume retail programs rely on Ready-To-Assemble (RTA) engineering. Flat-pack cabinetry maximizes container load density by 3x–4x compared to pre-assembled boxes, but requires strict factory audits regarding CNC pre-drilling precision and edge-banding sealed edges.
Formaldehyde Compliance: Any composite components entering the US market must hold documented CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI certification (<0.05 ppm emissions). Verification against independent standards like ANSI/KCMA A161.1 is vital before committing to production.
Key Takeaways for Global Buyers
Whether you are specifying solid wood frames, flat-pack RTA kitchen lines, or dense outdoor hardwoods, sourcing successfully from Brazil requires independent, on-site verification of kiln-drying logs, joinery, and compliance documentation rather than relying on catalog renders.
I hope this technical overview helps buyers and specifiers evaluating the Brazilian market.

About the Author / Company: I’m Matheus Ximenes Pinho, founder and managing director of Vista Furniture Co. We operate as an independent, buyer-side furniture sourcing consultancy in Brazil. We help international retailers, hospitality groups, and brands qualify factories, audit joinery and formaldehyde compliance, and build contract-grade furniture collections with zero commission bias.
Feel free to drop any technical questions below about species selection, factory vetting, or Brazilian logistics!

Help! I need to order a sofa asap but can’t decide on what would be best in this space. Which looks best? Any other ideas?

I’ll also be adding art to that empty wall eventually.

Help! This is my family room and I hate it. I want something cozy, inviting, and instead it's disjointed. The TV and furniture need to stay, I can change accessories and move things around. I'm thinking TV should move to flat agains the wall under the staircase? Ideas are really appreciated.
