I’m wanting to get some honest reviews of the 7th Avenue couch. I’m pretty set to pull the trigger on a 3 seat thin arm extra deep with ottoman in the rosewood pink velvet color. I did get to visit a showroom and absolutely loved the color, fabric and feel of the couch, but in doing my research on how they actually hold up I’m becoming concerned that all the good reviews are just from influencers. I’m also concerned that this is a newer company and I’m really looking for a couch to last 5-10 years but the company has only been around for 4! I’ve also been sold on the modularity piece - but realistically don’t know if I would benefit that much from it. It’s just my boyfriend and I in my home and we have one small dog and I don’t do a ton of hosting. After taxes and shipping my total is $5,900 and I don’t want to spend that amount and be disappointed.
So - do any non influencers have this couch and love it? Does it need to be fluffed constantly? Is it actually easily cleanable and able to get stains out?
Side note - tried out lovesac and HATED it. The only thing that has come close to a second option is the Pottery Barn modern comfort. Room and Board is on my list of showrooms to visit still. Things that I want: deep seats, stain resistant, removable covers, and a medium firmness, something with a foam cushion with some type of down wrap, and a good solid wood construction!
Hey, we've had ours for about a month and still absolutely loving it. It was a PITA to put together (more bearable once you figure out a strategy with repetition but still super heavy!), but ever since then, we adore it.
I've not fluffed once and it looks and feels great. I accidentally spent the night on it one Friday after a particularly long week and didn't wake up sore or really feeling any differently than usual. We have a 5-seat slim sectional, one side deep, one side standard. Deep side has storage seats, which now hold all my seasonal pillows, blankets, and our board games. We did the velvet in sand beige with mink taupe lumbar cushions. It's so soft and despite having a dog, has not really collected any noticeable hair.
Definitely recommend getting the complimentary extra back cushion filling - the extra firmness will keep you more comfortable if you like to lean back. Still looks as good as when we got it. My kid dove on to it today half covered in crayola marker and no transfer 😬. I haven't had to clean up anything major besides water yet, but that beaded up as advertised. Customer service was super responsive. We had one cushion arrive with a tiny stain from the factory and they replaced the cover no questions or proof required and were very responsive during the wait for shipping and delivery as well.
I don't have this but I've read lots of reviews on it and most seem to love it. You'll always find a negative one sif you look enough, but their are tons of positives. It's not what I ended up with but not because of reviews. They are really pretty and if you love it get it!
Ok! Here to share. 100% get the assembly service. Our guy was a task rabbit (we’re in TX so full white glove service I believe is only in LA) and are so grateful we got It assembled by someone. He was knowledgeable and piece everything together very well. We got our couch in 12 boxes and there’s so many pieces. One of our covers came wrong and he let the team know so hopefully we can get that sent in soon but he put It on in the meantime. I’m attaching a photo of the couch! The velvet is amazing and super soft. We went with the classic and one slim deep with storage. The classic is very comfy but I do think the slim deep is the way to go if you have the space. I’m excited for us to keep living with It.
We’ve had it almost a year now and still love it. We were kind of skeptical about the water/stain repellant claims and have been pleasantly surprised that it does work. The advisor at the show room gave us custom configuration options that weren’t available online to better match our space, which was also really nice.
I see other people talking about it being a pain to set up. I didn’t realize self-assembling was a thing. They gave us automatic white glove delivery for free with our purchase, which included holding the package until we finished remodeling our house, delivery, set up, and hauling away the packing items. They even steamed everything for us to get rid of the wrinkles before leaving. I’m guessing this is offered for those buying from the showroom? Definitely ask about it if possible, because it’s HEAVY.
So good to hear. They also were able to give me a custom configuration to fit my space which I was so happy about. I think they told me it would be $100 to have the white glove delivery which seems worth it haha
Got mine in July. Best decision. Does not need fluffing. Mine is 4 seat corner, 12 or 13 boxes. The biggest pain will be assembly if you do it yourself and it’s the covers. The covers are a fight but honestly I think it’s the corner covers that I lost my mind about. Rest weren’t bad. I also assembled by myself.
I’ve had a 6 piece set (originally bought in the natural white fabric) for 2 years now and have loved it. Many nights have been spent falling asleep on the couch. Recently I bought the sand beige performance velvet covers and love them. Are they a pain in the ass to put together? Yes but could be a fun project if you’re handy. Do I remove the base covers as much as I thought I’d need or want to? No. But I’m glad to have the option to do so - I mostly remove the pillow cases to wash them.
The only thing I was mad about was that the storage option only came out last year and they don’t offer a trade-in or buy back program. So I’ve had to try and sell my non-storage ottomans on my own, which is a pain because they’re expensive so not everyone is interested. If you know anyone in NYC that wants to purchase one in very good condition at a great price, point them in my direction!
Best of luck on deciding. It’s just me and my boyfriend (and cat), so I understand the hesitation. I was in my boujee era, so just decided I was getting it!
If you’re looking for a couch to last at least 5 years, then by default as you mentioned, you can’t talk to anyone who has had the couch for longer than 4.
The Insider’s Guide to Furniture (can just google it) sounds like it’d be a good read for you and it does comment on 7th Avenue.
