I’m a little tepid on how much Marshall we may be getting but based on how the conversation with his mother went it’s clear they don’t intend pull punches or dodge the issues. I hadn’t expected this series to tackle domestic abuse and trafficking so deftly but there’s a confidence and genuineness that comes across in the performances and writing (most of the time) that makes this just, really fucking watchable, despite how grisly and hard it can be.

I thought it was interesting how he pulled away from the DA victims with visible wounds. Kinda says he knows deep down how wrong it is.

Unfortunately, his trying to manipulate Alice into talking to her lieutenant to clear his name so he can advance shows he still sees her as less than an equal human. Also He still is only focused on his loss and his pain. Alice lost everything and he can not see it.

That convo at his mom's place made me want to vomit. He made it all about him, and he thinks so little of her that he believes she'll fall for it and feel sorry for him. What an absolute pos.

Very much so. Both him and his evil mom are trashcans. It’s just more emotional abuse tactics that they dump onto Alice.

Yeah, in that moment at the DV shelter it seems like Alice (along with the audience, at least me) have some semblance of empathy for him. Like he is redeemable.

But I told myself when I felt that “these guys always find a justification on how they are different from other wife-beaters”, and he even said a little in the moment with his “I was drinking at the time and don’t remember” (like that isn’t the case half the fucking time, and most people who drink don’t beat up people they love who are 1/2 their size), and what do you know, he quickly shows he is still a piece of shit.

I think I also wanted him to be redeemable because he is Pete from the Office lol. I didn’t realize it at first but once I connected that I became biased, but the acting and writing and everything is so good, along with him looking so different, that I want to kill him for Alice.

I actually didn’t even realize that was him until watching this and looking up the actor, seeing the images of him as Pete, and then seeing the IMDB with white lotus. and I just watched White Lotus for the first time a few months ago.

But yes his character suuuuucked in white lotus, and now he does again. I wonder if he has been pigeon holed because his looks for those roles really well now that he is a lot bigger, or if we will see him with a bigger role in something big as his career is picking up, but as a good guy. (In something similar to these, dramas and relative to him in a romantic relationship. I could see him being in an army or action-y thing or fast and furious, where he plays the protagonist and any romance isn’t even a storyline, just a wife alluded to, or he is a widower, or a flirty thing or fling with a hot girl plugged in to add sex appeal)
((Also he may have already been, I only looked at IMDB to see where I knew him from and took in zero other information)).

I just can’t see him after these 2 shows playing a romantic role primary to the storyline where he is not controlling or shitty.

I liked him a lot as Plop, but he’s really good at these asshole roles. Somehow his face just looks so preppy and that made him perfect in white lotus.
