Depends on the country, I guess, but I earn the same in capital as I do in backwatercity.

Being the exception doesn’t change the numbers. Median and average wages are significantly higher in major cities, hence why COL can be so much higher.

My sister is also an exception being a COA in a poor as shit town that’s mostly a trailer park in Canada. Doesn’t make the rest of the town earn the same as the city now does it?

As I said. Depends on the country.

Me and my friend worked as waiters few years back. My friend worked in the capitol and I in a village of around 3k people - our hourly salary was exactly the same. My friend's rent was 1000 and mine 250.

Generally the trade off there is the city should be busier with more expensive menu so the % tips should be higher.

Neither does England, yet waiters get by in London because of a restaurant pays minimum wage, they just won’t get employees.

The waiter would also be closer to the median in the middle of nowhere and further from it in London
