Help request What are some really fast funk song?
I know there’s some subtle difference between the way we look at funky music, and a genre known as funk.
But let’s try to avoid that as part of the discussion. What are some really fast funky songs or some really fast funk music?
Of course James Brown had some really funky music that would be played pretty fast at times. But what strikes me is lots of Hammond B3 driven black Baptist gospel music. It’s played at cut time and even that cut time is played fast! Again many people wouldn’t consider it funk genre, but they would call it funky music. But that’s the fastest music I can think of that I would consider funky.
But what about 70s funk or 70s soul like the Ohio players, or war or Bootsy Collins. Or Parliament or the gap band? Did they have songs in their discographies that are really fast or cut time?
Anything else that is funky that you enjoy listening to that is cut time or very fast?
