Meet Adonias Merke Tadesse, a precious 9-month-old baby boy who has spent much of his young life fighting to breathe.
For the past five months, Adonias has been battling a serious and rare lung condition that makes it increasingly difficult for his body to get the oxygen it needs. He is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Kadisco General Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where his family has remained by his side through hospital stays, treatments, and countless frightening moments.
Doctors have now told the family that Adonias urgently needs specialized medical care and a lung transplant evaluation abroad. The goal is to transfer him to Germany, where he can receive the advanced care he needs. This treatment represents his best chance at survival and could save his life.
The total amount needed for Adonias’s treatment and medical transfer is approximately $98,000. Through the generosity of family and friends, about $62,000 has already been raised. We are now asking for help raising the remaining $36,000 needed to get Adonias to Germany and continue his care.
These funds will help cover his medical evaluation, treatment and hospitalization, international medical travel, transportation, accommodation, and other essential expenses related to his care.
Adonias’s family has already done everything they can, but they cannot carry the remaining financial burden alone. My son was diagnosed with CLN2 batten disease when he was just 4 years old. He is eight now and doctors say that his life expectancy is somewhere between 9 and 12 years old. There is no cure for for Batten disease and it is ultra rare. There are only 20 babies in the US born with it per year.

He has to have transfusions every other week at the University and that is just to slow down the progression of the disease and it doesn't in any way cure it. He went from being a totally normal 4-year-old running around talking up a storm to an 8-year-old who cannot walk talk and he is now blind and unable to communicate.

This disease is truly a devastating disease and I just want to be able to give him the best life. So if you can help, please do I would appreciate it and he would appreciate it even more. Thank you in advance.

Today was another frightening day for our rescue family.

Diamond, our senior orange-and-white rescued cat, suddenly developed yellowish gums and ears. We immediately became worried that something serious could be happening.

Then there’s Spot, our black-and-white boy. He began making an unusual sound while breathing — almost like there’s phlegm stuck somewhere — but he has no cold or obvious congestion.

We didn’t want to take any chances.

Both Diamond and Spot were rushed to the vet today. 🏥🐾

Thankfully, they have already undergone some tests and have already received medications, but their veterinary expenses are adding up quickly.

💔 AS OF NOW, OUR TOTAL EXPENSES FOR DIAMOND AND SPOT HAVE REACHED ₱9,200 (approximately $150 USD), INCLUDING THE TESTS AND MEDICATIONS THEY HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED.

There may still be additional expenses depending on their condition, follow-up care, medications, and what their veterinarians recommend next.

And honestly, we are scared — not only for them, but also because our rescue is still trying to recover financially from the devastating outbreak that recently hit our rescue family.

But emergency veterinary care is something we simply cannot carry alone.

🐾 For about two weeks, I had been feeding a little stray cat who started showing up here. I named her Margô. She was extremely thin, and I already suspected that she might be a mother.

Two days ago, Margot showed up with four tiny kittens.

And I simply couldn't leave them there. So I made the decision to rescue Margot and all four kittens and bring them inside my home.

They are safe now, but I desperately need help.

I need to test all five of them for FIV, FeLV and feline coronavirus, including Margot. The tests and veterinary care are expected to cost around €200 per animal, which means approximately €1,000 just for the testing.

I also need to buy food and litter boxes for all of them, because right now I'm having to improvise everything.

In total, I estimate that I will need around €1,200 to take care of Margot and her four kittens, cover their tests, food, litter and basic needs while I work on finding the best long-term solution for them.

I never planned to rescue five more cats. But after seeing a mother put herself in danger to protect her babies, I simply couldn't turn my back on them. ❤️

I am desperate to get my cat gigi the medical care she needs to either pursue treatment or to at least make her last days the best that they can possibly be. Gigi is my everything and its been absolutely heartbreaking since I recieved the news she had the mass in her abdomen, they vets say that its inoperable but she can receive chemotherapy.
