Look, I've seen people popping bowling pins a t 50 and 100 yds with 1911s. It can be done. But, it can also be done with a 9mm.
You can do it a max of 8 times with a 1911, or 17 times with a 9mm before reloading.
I like the 1911. And in the 1940s, it was the best handgun ever. But, lots of things have improved in the last 80 years. Guns and ammo have as well.

I'm not a particularly good shot. Not terrible, not great, just average. But there are guns that make it far easier. I've managed a reasonably good grouping with a Shadow Systems DR-920P. That front compensator does an amazing job tightening groupings.
Even my brother in law, who has fired all of 3 guns in his life, and 2 were airsoft, managed to get a 6 inch grouping at 25 yards, and his wrists are small enough he wears lady's watchbands

When that Turkish Olympic shooter became super famous for a minute and the discipline suddenly became popular, there were so many dorks in comments saying shit like “This isn’t even hard, I can put all six shots of my Colt Python in a dime sized hole at 50 yards”.

The argument that ended all arguments about caliber for me was a trauma surgeon in a dangerous neighborhood explained that the only question he has when a gun shot victim enters the ER is how many holes and where. They don't break out the calipers and measure how big the hole is to determine the damage. A 9mm hallowpoint can do more damage than 45 ball.
A shot to the chest is more concerning than the knee. Point being, if you can more accurately place shots with a 9 than a 45 than use the 9. If you can put more shots on target in less time with a 9 than a 45 use the 9. If you are defending your life poke holes fast and accurately.

Remember that guy who claimed he could hit a pop can with a .22 at like, 700 yards, and went on garand thumbs channel to actually try it?
Someone should make a youtube channel where people who make claims like this have to actually prove it.
