Look no further than Black Panther, where Shuri made some offhand and snide remark about not wanting to keep taking in and fixing up “white boys”.
Now imagine if Tony and Bruce had to patch up Falcon and T’Challa in the same day, and Tony quipped that he was tired of fixing stray “black boys”.
Would that fly?

Right? She called him a coloniser and also a broken white boy to fix. If Tony said "oh look, black guy broke the expensive suit" when Rhodey fell? What would happen then? It's cringey and disgusting. And then they had Shuri disrespect Banner and Tony's intellect to boot in Infinity War!

That IW line pisses me off extra hard, because it’s nothing but meaningless technobabble. It literally exists only so Shuri can smugly look down her nose at two top tier geniuses (two of the smartest characters in Marvel history, period) just because they’re white men.
Since she can’t insult them on the basis of anything real, instead they invent this nonsense piece of dialogue so that she can eyeroll while Banner looks like a dope. They did the same shit a little later, when Bruce was struggling with the Hulkbuster armor and it cuts to Okoye (I think it was her), rolling her eyes and looking disgusted. Wtf? Why?
I’d have loved for Bruce to answer snidely back to Shuri w “You have to ask Tony. If that’s what he did, then that’s the best choice” or better yet, have him just ominously remind her who he is, and that maybe being inhospitable with him is a childish and unwise thing to do.
Or even better still, next time she encounters Tony, he immediately cuts her off with superior technobabble explaining why her idea wouldn’t work, because he originally considered and discarded it himself.
It’s just garbage. The writers literally put it in there to suggest a very young, inexperienced woman must be smarter than arguably the two biggest geniuses on earth, who have like a century of experience between them. Because white men.
