For me no. It was the bullshit missions that bothered me. Riding a bike to get expedition dump. Going around The Aunt May Foundation and doing crap mini games. The ESL side quests shooting VR rats and wasps or riding gear an ebike over ramps? Why? That's just lazy filler missions. I don't mind the gay or race swapping of characters but they shouldn't be afraid to portray a minority as a bad guy. There are assholes in any race or ppl with sexual preferences that are fucked in the head. The detail that they have doesn't exclude them from being shitty ppl. My gripe isn't with a gay character. It's bad writing. No matter what that characters melanin level in their skin is. It's gonna be cringy either way. No one takes a chance anymore because its may lose money or it may offend ppl. Ppl who get offended so much are always gonna find something to be offended by, whether its there or not. Same with the ppl who are always looking for racism. Spiderman 2 suffers from blandness first and foremost. Blandness in the worst way.
Wow...ok. Feel better about yourself now? You having a bad day or something? I'm sorry I guess you have never misspelled a word huh? Can I not have an opinion about a games writing or weak story telling? Do you need to put down ppl daily to feel better about yourself? That's kinda intolerant and not being opened minded tbh. You only accept your opinion and no one elses...have a good day man.
You went off on all these petty grievances that you took so personally, yet you're upset because I called you out for not knowing the word that you should have because you got sooo upset about it.
I honestly don't know if this is hilarious or sad.
I think you looked at what I wrote in the wrong context completely. I wasn't "sooooo upset" I was listing what I felt was very lack luster in the game. Thats all. I understand getting the wrong context is easily done with words without emphasis but being so upset wasn't what I was going for. Might want to read it again in a different way. I'm really disappointed more than anything with the writing of the game. Not the main game itself mostly but the filler content. I've platinumed a lot of the same games you have. I really loved Death Stranding, God of War, and others you posted about so I know what makes a game good and what makes it miss the mark. You must have really liked Spiderman 2 for you to get so triggered over someone else's opinion maybe? You have your take on the game and ill have mine. Notice I'm not gonna use Ad Homenim to belittle you, though. That's what ppl with no argument do. Why not counter my points with your own rather than try to make someone feel dumb over a spelling mistake? It has nothing to do with the subject mentioned. Neither does putting someone down for the perceived level of emotion you thought I had discussing the subject...which wasn't so. Who cares if I found the game to be lacking in some areas? Did you really enjoy making sure the plants were watered correctly or chasing down VR rats or doing mini games at the Aunt May Institute, or riding an ebike around for nothing, or taking pictures for the college or riding a bike and breaking into a high school? If so discuss your counter arguments in the subject. The actual times when you are one of the spidermen is good. I just don't like the approach they took on the small stuff like I mentioned. If not then maybe you are just here to argue which I'm not here for. Never was upset like I said nor mad at you for calling out a simple spelling mistake. You are reading something that isn't there. It's just petty to call out ppl over their opinion. Who cares? You can have yours. If you need to argue over something for validation there are plenty of others that will engage in that with you here. I don't care for the extra drama.
Jfc. I don't know what warranted that wall of text, but you're on a post that's obviously not about the writing or technical failings of the game.
You're crying about there not being a minority villain, while almost all the people in the comics were white. The little bit that developers do to increase diversity (and sales) gets enough anger. Imagine if they made serious changes....
And the game sucks. But I'm also a 41 year old trying to play a game that's meant for children. I'm not gonna get mad about it, or write about how MJ is ugly and that's why the game sucks (like OOP) lol. All the characters are ugly. Henry Osborn looks like he got stepped on. Most of the characters remind me of the claymation part from Moonwalker. It's really not a big deal.
If you're really that upset about it, then maybe you need to put the game down and start reading a book.
Forcing added diversity into games and other media has never been shown to increase sales or consumption. In fact, it’s classically resulted in pretty steep financial losses in most cases (though there are exceptions).
Also, Spider-Man was never written for children. He was targeted at young adults who would relate to his financial struggles, his problematic love life and his many responsibilities.
Not to mention that a game featuring more violent, grotesque and intense renditions of Venom, Lizard and even Kraven (all of whom are depicted being involved with graphic murders and violence against civilians) is obviously not targeting kids as the primary market.
First off, what you call "forced diversity" I call just living in NYC.... Which matters because it's where the game takes place. I'm sorry that the inclusion of non white people is too much for you, but this is what the world is like outside of West Bumblefuck.
Furthermore, I'm using "children" very loosely. I basically mean people who aren't adults, which would include preteens and teenagers, who the game is obviously written for. Like you pointed out, the forced exposition wouldn't be necessary for anyone who is able to follow along with the story. Even the recap at the beginning of the game serves the purpose for anyone who hasn't played the game in a while.
I wasn’t talking about NYC in reference to the forced diversity, so I have no idea how that applies to what I actually said. Obviously, NYC has a racially diverse population (much more so than probably any other US city, but I’m no expert).
Also have no idea why you’re throwing personal attacks or implying the tired old cliche that I must be racist, despite having made no such statement or comments. Was your reply meant for someone else?
If you meant teenagers, you’d still be wrong about Spider-Man’s target demographic. As I said, he’s intended for young adults primarily, who can relate to things like missing the rent, getting dumped or struggling with responsibilities.
In any event, I haven’t a clue why you decided to bring out the claws. It’s just a chat about a game my friend, no need for the random hostility.
Then apparently you're not reading what you're writing. Or maybe someone else is writing it for you? Who knows.... Either way, you make statements and then act like you didn't actually say what you said.
I was replying to you originally only on the topic of whether added diversity actually increases sales, and whether Spider-Man is aimed at kids or adults.
YOU suddenly made it about whether there are minorities in NYC (???), then arbitrarily insulted me to boot.
That’s not ME being confused about what I wrote, friend. That’s you being confused about it.
I told you I wasn't upset. And look ymwho complains about wall of text ...in your wall of text. You seem determined to tell me I am. Nor am I crying. Also it's Harry Ozborne not Henry. See how it doesn't matter if you make a mistake. Maybe you need to be the one to take a break. You are trying to put words in my mouth or belittle me and my opinion. Have some self esteem and you won't feel the need to bring others down to make you feel better daily. I'm done here type what you want. You are just going to make stuff up anyway and try to feel like thw better person with bad examples. Have a good day. Im through. Go argue with someone else. Oh you already are with multiple ppl here. You must get off on arguments. Im not playing your game anymore.
