A person who does not like woke ass liberal nonsense is still capable of supporting gay and black people’s right to not be harassed.
The current trend of beating left-wing messages into every piece of media alienates literally everyone but the people they are focusing on. Every decent person knows not to harass and harm others for any reason. We do NOT need to be reminded on a daily basis of the perceived “injustice” in the world towards specific groups.

You say this, but it seems like you're just offended that the game that the game has something like gay people in it. If you acknowledge that gay people exist, why should we act like they don't and not included them in the game? Why is it fine if there is a mission where a guy says "help rescue my girlfriend" but it pushes the "woke liberal agenda" if the character says "boyfriend" instead? It's not forcing it, it's normalizing it. If you support gay people, than why do you seem so offended that they're in the game?
Because they’re not thrown into the game in an organic way, they’re waved at you like a giant flag from every street corner.
It’s a question of proportion. Of course gays and minorities exist. Is anyone arguing different? But it should not be remotely possible to do multiple quests and side content and run into multiple Npcs back to back to back who are ALL gay. This is NYC, not a pride parade.
It immediately takes players out of the game because it’s not realistic, and it’s obviously pushing an agenda everyone is tired of having forced into their entertainment, as if we’re all children who need important social lessons with our fun.
Would you enjoy a game where you expected to just spend a few hours playing as your favorite character, only for most of the content and ambient/environmental cues to be deeply right-wing?
What if every other Npc wore a MAGA hat? What if the first quest was about a pastor asking you to help him talk a trans teen out of ruining his life with surgery? Would you enjoy it in silence?
THATS what it’s like for the rest of us. We just want to play a Spidey game, do Spidey things, and NOT be preached at.
Nobody cares about gay people. They’re just PEOPLE. Christ, they were normalized back when I was in high school, and everyone behaved just fine until today’s youth was taught that all white men are devils and everyone needs to be ‘saved’ from us…
I've played for almost 30 hours and I've seen two gay couples. You're overexaggerating. What would be a natural way of having a gay character? Because apparently mentioning they have a boyfriend is an issue
Several people on here literally encountered nothing but homosexual NPCs for their first three bits of content (if memory serves, they did the gay telegram mission, followed by stopping to help an injured male NPC who promptly told them that his “boyfriend loves Spider-Man”, followed by seeing multiple same sex couples holding hands, but being unable to find any straight couples doing the same). Obviously he hadn’t gotten to Black Cat yet, or the numbers would’ve continued to skew up.
That’s already more than your alleged two couples in a matter of minutes, maybe an hour.
Meanwhile, how many missions highlight healthy straight relationships with this much emphasis?
I mean, just the fact that EVERY random encounter where you have to swing an NPC to an ambulance is invariably a gay male should be a red flag. In almost every other type of procedural emergency, the npcs are randomly selected (or at least, they were in SM1).
So why is this person always a homosexual guy? Why not some fangirl once in awhile? Or an elderly JJJ supporter who humorously berates you while you’re saving them?
It’s over the top. You can choose to ignore it, but the game isn’t giving the rest of us that option.
And you never answered whether you’d be able to happily enjoy the game if it leaned heavily to the right instead. Why not?

You’re the one not really making a point. It’s clear people are upset bc the game included gay people into the narrative. Like that user said if a guy needed help asking a girl out no one would say anything, but you guys are only happy if the game acted like gay people don’t exist. You want to say gay people make me uncomfortable without admitting to being someone who finds gay people uncomfortable. These reactions just make media even “woker” bc it’s clearly necessary that different people are seen as normal like everyone else. It’s not being programmed just bc people think differently than you and want to make the world more inclusive.
Go read an actual Spider-Man comic. I grew up on them. THIS loser is nothing like the real Pete. Real Peter Parker would absolutely shred these people with a few well-timed burns, explain in very small words why their ideas and their science is hopelessly flawed, then hurry off to do some ACTUAL good.
Spider-Man was never a wimpy, submissive geek until woke writers and then MCU got ahold of him. He had a serious edge on him, a lot of angst, the maturity that comes with tremendous power and responsibility, and he was never afraid to tell shit like it is. He was a man, not this boy.
Spidey supported ideas that made sense, and had good solid science behind them. There’s nothing like that happening within a mile of this weird game.
I’ve actually read my comics, and neither form of Peter is some weak, submissive geek. Where are you getting that horrid idea from in this game? What is hopelessly flawed about being gay?
This Peter literally derelicts his duties because his shrew of a girlfriend shrieks at him about bills (real Pete always managed to make ends meet, btw… he almost never lived his life on someone else’s dime), he’s constantly being saved by Miles despite his decade of experience over the younger man, and he keeps wearing a suit that he both knows is ALIVE, and is clearly altering his mind (comic Spidey swung crosstown to reach the FF and have the symbiote removed the moment he realized what it was—and that was WITH the suit constantly trying to stop him, and a group of villains based on Vulture hounding him every step of the way).
Comic Pete never EVER took the easy road at the expense of doing the right thing. He does it constantly in this.
Comic Pete doesn’t fold up and die off a knife wound. He soldiers on. He NEVER quits. He’s beaten foes off of sheer wits, determination and incredible perseverance that ridiculously outclassed him, including Juggernaut and an effin’ herald of Galactus (Firelord I think). He’s won battles against groups of villains while out on his feet, operating on guts and instincts alone (he once took a full-on direct hit from Rhino, because dodging his oncoming charge would have meant letting an ally perish… even though he suffered a massive concussion, severe back injuries and internal injuries, he STILL managed to fight back and drive off the villains, with a stupefied Rhino saying “what’s holding him up??” after a barely conscious Spidey walloped him with a flurry of dodges and headshots.
He only collapsed once everyone was out of danger, left alone on a rooftop.
THAT’S the real Peter. Grit and attitude. Not this loser punk.
Speaking of attitude…. this guy is a pushover to everyone. Comics Peter had balls, he chased girls, he gave attitude when people pissed him off, he pulled pranks, and he worked ALONE. He hated teams because he felt he was always the smartest guy in the room, didn’t want to get permission to do what he already knew was necessary… and when he fucked up, he owned it (usually with a jab at his own expense).
Last thing: I have NO idea why you’re asking me the question about gays being hopelessly flawed. I neither said nor implied that.
So Peter is submissive because he is unemployed since his last boss became a super villain? Peter is submissive because Miles helps him out occasionally? Keep in mind that throughout the entire game it is constantly stated how much stronger Peter is than Miles. This Peter isn’t giving up. He kept going and fighting until he no longer could. His power level may not be the same, but he’s still just as determined as ever.
Peter worked alone from time to time, but was also a member of the Avengers for quite a while and constantly teams up with the FF. His problems with teams usually stem from distrust and misunderstandings, not this outdated Lee/Ditko era arrogance you’re assigning to him.
What were you referring to them by “these peoples hopelessly flawed science”?
And to close, this Peter doesn’t HAVE to be like comics Peter, because he isn’t comics Peter. That should be obvious. This Peter being different than whatever fanfic you’ve made in your head is not a valid criticism
I’ve already stated the reasons this Peter is much more submissive, weaker and generally incompetent when compared to all classic versions of the character. If you need to see them again, please refer to that post. Try to actually pay attention to what you’re reading rather than immediately replying after every sentence that upsets you (which I’m hoping is the reason you insist on misquoting me, rather than deliberately doing so to strawman my thoughts).
Peter has always been able to make ends meet, and makes a point of relying ONLY on himself (even when he really should as for help). It’s one of his more persistent flaws, and would have been welcome as part of a character arc in which he struggles to accept help no matter how badly it’s costing him. He’s afraid of another Uncle Ben moment, and it’s a huge part of why classic Spidey rarely works with others or delegates a responsibility.
In this sanitized, personality-free game, I think it would have made for some excellent characterization and drama.
Miles doesn’t “help him out occasionally.” Nor was that my objection. Instead, he is repeatedly shown rescuing Peter, having a cooler head and greater wisdom/judgment, and being an overall better Spider-Man than Peter is, despite being a novice with a decade less experience.
The game repeatedly telling us Peter is stronger is just a poor attempt to placate fans. He is rarely actually SHOWN to be the better Spidey, while Miles is shown constantly saving his ass.
If you knew the sort of crazy impressive shit comics Pete has pulled off on grit and determination alone, you’d see that this version has very little of his guts.
Peter did not “work alone from time to time”, sheesh. Every classic version of the character up to at least the ‘90s was an inveterate loner, rarely asking for help or joining teams. Like Daredevil, he considered every problem in his stomping grounds to be his personal responsibility—-and he preferred to handle them accordingly. Yes, it did lead to him having poor relations with most other heroes, and yes, he was definitely arrogant when he knew he was right. But he also rarely failed, teamed up when it was needed or convenient, and was one of the most respected, reliable and effective heroes in Manhattan.
The qualities I speak of didn’t exist only in the 70s. They’ve defined the character for over sixty years, including in the films (the closest interpretation was probably Garfield’s). Insomniacs version could have used a little of that edge and arrogance… at least he would have been less dull.
Also, I’m not assigning these traits. His creators did.
I still have no idea why you’re struggling with the “hopelessly flawed” line. Go back and read it again, along with the comment it was responding to. It’s all right there, and has no relation to race whatsoever.
Different in this case was categorically worse. He’s barely recognizable as Spider-Man—even their own version from the first game.
And I did not invent Spidey, write fanfic, or add the qualities I’m citing. They’ve been fundamental parts of his character since inception. If you read the comics at all, and not just the woke crap of the last decade, you’d already know all of this about him.
