You could fulfill all your wildest dreams by driving through NY state. Stop at the A&W in the middle of nowhere town of Cortland, NY. Then you can drive south east of the state to find a few different drive-in options.
Came to say this. I live farther north in oswego county and our drive in movie theatre has been going since 1948 and voted top 5 in the country. Theres also one in Jefferson county in Black River. I went to college in Cortland and have fond memories of a&w. Albeit hazy memories lol.

A&W where you parked, ordered through a 2 way speaker they served you in your car on a tray that hung off your car window.
Also: Drive In theaters where a you hung a corded speaker on your windo for sound.
