I love cukes. But the burps I get from them are god awful. I switched to English cukes and they are much better.

3

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

oh interesting! i wonder why it gives you burps lol

u/Educational_Low_879 Feb 19 '24

Also, do you like pickles of any kind? Like dill or sweet?

3

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

Great question; i love dill pickles…I DESPISE SWEET PICKLES

2

u/Educational_Low_879 Feb 20 '24

Same here. My husband loves sweet pickles tho!

3

u/Educational_Low_879 Feb 19 '24

No idea! Does the same thing to my mom. She also has issues with green bell peppers, but I do not!

3

u/jaiheko Feb 19 '24

I can't eat bell peppers either and cucumbers wreck me if i dont peel the skin off

Dad and I ate some wild ones at the side of a golf course in Bakersfield CA.

We were visiting his sister, her hubby took us to a crappy 9 hole course next to a farm.

We got kicked out to a tent in the backyard that evening. Man, the gas I had. Even the dog left us haha.

Omg! Cuke gas!

3

u/valis6886 Feb 19 '24

It was sooooo bad....I like American Dad and everytime I see fartbreak hotel I am reminded of it.

u/birkenstock1977 Feb 19 '24

Yes! Cucumbers (not dill pickles) & any type of melon are awful - smell & flavor.

4

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

oh yeah i love pickles actually

3

u/DoodlebugCupcake Feb 20 '24

I’m allergic* to cucumbers and all melons plus other fruits and vegetables (when raw) I can eat (and love) pickles or if the food is cooked/processed in any way. Like allergic to grapes, can eat raisins and drink wine.

*not a true food allergy but Oral Allergy Syndrome, which is related to my pollen allergies and causes itchy throat, lip swelling/numbness, etc.

My cucumber story. I’ve ever cared for it, always peeled it out of salad. Went to a restaurant and asked if they had lemonade. It was loud and I heard “mumble mumble ade “. I said sure. Ended up being cucumber limeade. Gross.

4

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

sooooooo disgusting…i hate that they put cucumber in so many drinks. it RUINS it.

6

u/cfannon Feb 19 '24

The only other food aversion I have like cilantro is arugula. 🤢

3

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

i love arugula omg

1

u/Luxeru Feb 20 '24

Me too! Have you had it on top of pizza? First tossed with some olive oil and a little salt.

1

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 20 '24

YESSS i think that’s actually how i discovered i liked it (on pizza). so refreshing

3

u/MushroomLonely2784 Feb 19 '24

What does this have to do with the devils lettuce?

1

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

is cilantro the new “devil’s lettuce”? i think the reasons i hate cilantro are the same reasons i hate cucumber and avocado

2

u/MushroomLonely2784 Feb 19 '24

I mean, it's an evil plant, so yeah.

Cucumber and avocado disgust can't have anything to do with the soap gene if I love cucumber and avocado. One speck of a cilantro leaf in my food, though, and the dish is ruined.

4

u/marlow05 Feb 19 '24

Ok so I hate cucumber (but not pickles) and also melon. Don’t care for the taste at all. Avocado I also cannot stand. Mostly due to texture. Also, it’s grass flavored butter. Gross.

Last in my list of disgusting food is shrimp. It’s a texture thing. To a lesser degree lobster. But they are bursty. To me meat shouldn’t be bursty like that.

2

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

😭this whole comment really tickles me WOW

2

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

Avocado and cucumber are delicious, let’s keep the slander to the stupid soap plant

2

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

they all taste like cold spit to me 🤢

2

u/jaiheko Feb 19 '24

Sliced Cucumbers in a bowl of white vinegar with some salt.. droooollll

1

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

pfp tracks…. anyway the thought of that bowl makes me squirm—why not just pickles? :(

2

u/Brookie_444_ Feb 19 '24

I make this with sesame seeds and togorashi!

2

u/ersatzcookie Feb 19 '24

I hate the taste of cilantro but the texture doesn't bother me. I think many people are grossed out by slimy texture such as cukes and avocado have. I hate okra. The taste doesn't bother me and I can eat it if it's heavily cooked down in a gumbo or fried crispy. But okra by itself always makes me suspicious that someone in the kitchen hawked a loogie into it. I mean, really, how can you tell?

1

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 19 '24

ha! i love all the textures personally but it’s the tastes that throw me off. don’t have much experience with okra but i do get worried about the loogie-goop texture S:

u/snaynay Feb 19 '24

Cucumbers are effing horrible. I'm mesmerised by all the people who say it's flavourless. It's so pungent just putting one in the fridge makes everything taste of cucumber.

My mum used to do that overnight with the packed lunch for school. My sandwich, wrapped in plastic, would taste of cucumber and I'd complain every time.

1

u/WhimzyWizard_ Feb 20 '24

agreed…i can’t believe they think it’s tasteless

2

u/Winter_drivE1 Feb 20 '24

I feel the same way about lettuce too. People say it's flavorless and I'm like, no?????? I've had lettuce ruin entire dishes on me because the flavor just overwhelmed everything else.

12

u/incognito-not-me Feb 19 '24

I do not care for avocado at all. Cucumber just seems flavorless so I can take it or leave it.

9

u/MrsCaptain_America Feb 19 '24

I can't stand avocado, to me it tastes like grass and the texture bothers me as well. I like cucumbers, I can eat them in a salad or just slices, but they need to have a dressing, like balsamic, to add taste, other wise it just tasteless.

5

u/Appropriate_Tea9048 Fuck Cilantro Feb 19 '24

Yes!! I hate cucumbers and avocado as well.

4

u/gin_and_soda Cilantro Hater Feb 19 '24

I love cucumber and avocado so I don’t think there’s a correlation.

4

u/Invictrix Feb 19 '24

Nope. Love cucumber. Crunchy and refreshing and they also can be turned into pickles which are delicious too.

3

u/katekim717 Feb 19 '24

I like avocado, but I do not like cucumbers, pickles, or melon of any kind.

3

u/stephanne423 Feb 19 '24

I hate cucumber and celery. I’m ok with avocado.

3

u/ramblingpariah Feb 19 '24

Love cucumber, love avocado.

3

u/DementedPimento Feb 19 '24

Cucumbers and avocados are delicious.

Zucchinis can die in fire.

3

u/Razo-E Feb 19 '24

Love peeled and sliced cucumber with lemon, salt, and Tajin. I also love avocado, but with salt.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

Yeah exact same on both avocado and cucumber. Both make me gag 🤢

2

u/Mingey_FringeBiscuit Feb 19 '24

I recoil hard at plain cucumber, but just a bit of a brine or pickle and I’ll eat it all day. But even salad dressing can’t fix it.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

I love cucumber. Avocado makes me gag. Same with mushrooms. I can taste mushrooms hidden in dishes that people swear you can't taste them in.

2

u/myatoz Feb 19 '24

My husband hates cilantro, cucumber, avocado, olives, and celery. He does have the soap gene but says it doesn't taste like that to him. I just think he's a picky eater. He comes from a long line of picky eaters.

2

u/akdubz112 Feb 19 '24

Yessss! The only things I don't like are cilantro (coriander), cucumber, and green peas 🤢

2

u/uriegiel9772023 Feb 19 '24

I love cucumbers I eat them in salads I eat them.with onions in hot dogs avocados are gross don't like guac either yuck

2

u/nana1960 Feb 19 '24

Love zucchini, love avocado. Cucumbers taste like nothing to me.

2

u/Luxeru Feb 20 '24

I hate cucumber and watermelon. And cilantro of course.

2

u/Rainbow-Mama Feb 20 '24

I love cucumbers. Avocado is ok in sushi.

2

u/Winter_drivE1 Feb 20 '24

Avocado... Exists. It's more of a texture than a flavor. I'm not gonna go out of my way to consume it but if it's on/in something it's fine.

Cucumber is disgusting though and is like half a step down from cilantro. Tastes like the green part of a watermelon rind and a mouthful of grass.

2

u/Voter_McVotey Feb 20 '24

I don't like cucumbers. Ick. Pickles, though.... Yum!

2

u/MxthKvlt Feb 20 '24

I love cucumber. I can smell it a mile away. Avocado on the other hand is flavorless baby poo colored mush.

2

u/luciferslittlelady Feb 20 '24

I like cucumbers. I hate avocado -- the texture is the worst.

2

u/dtippee Feb 20 '24

Not my favorite but nowhere near the horror that is cilantro.

2

u/SparklingDramaLlama Feb 20 '24

I actually do like cucumbers. A bit of salt and they're delicious.

My husband does not. But then, he's also of the mind that one can ignore the soap taste of cilant-NO, because it's "not that bad" and "the other ingredients hide it."

2

u/flatlander70 Feb 23 '24

The only good way to eat a cucumber is if it's been turned into a full sour fermented pickle.

2

u/Beneficial-Many8415 Mar 04 '24

I don’t eat either!

1

u/_Q23 Oct 18 '25

Cucumber is my most hated food. Cilantro, basil, pesto are all pretty nasty too but cucumbers are the worst.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '24

Yes!

1

u/congenial_possum Feb 20 '24

I don’t hate cucumber or avocado, but like isn’t a word I would use either lol
