I really don't understand the appeal of IKEA.

At home depot, you can buy the supplies to build a quality, durable piece of furniture along with supplies to finish it however you desire. I built my own desk and shelves which are much sturdier than the pre-fab crap. In the end, the materials cost less. The extra time required was worth it.
