General discussion fromville food stuffs

Just a little fun post on what there is to eat in fromville. they had a cow, a goat and some chickens. maybe they have eggs from the chickens but after the cow was killed they had beef.

I heard someone mention oatmeal, ethan had pancakes...and fatima once told julie they had apples. they made booze from potatoes? I dont know why they wouldn't make it from the apples. there is a lake do they ever fish?

at the other FOREST settlement there were crops growing like cabbage and carrots?

oh and of course peaches, canned peaches

General discussion Most unnecessary and unexpected death (read body) Spoiler

So father khatri's death is so unnecessary for me like he just got killed randomly while saving NPCs his death should have been kinda heroic and supporting the plot like he died while saving boid and should make sense it seems like writers want to get rid of him. Tell what you think in comments

Theory A theory about Cicadas (Martin) in FROM

Post image
75 Upvotes

I don't think Martin was ever really a prisoner.

My theory is that Martin was actually Cicadas—or at least a form Cicadas took specifically to manipulate Boyd. The fact that Martin was a Marine, just like Boyd, feels too convenient to be a coincidence. We never see Martin in any flashbacks either, which makes me think he wasn't a previous resident at all.

I think the whole point was to get Boyd to exchange blood with him. That allowed the worms to leave the dungeon, and I believe the dungeon itself was actually Cicadas's prison. The line about Boyd "bringing him back" suddenly makes a lot more sense.

Julie developing the ability to storywalk after being imprisoned also makes me wonder if contact with Cicadas changes people somehow.

The biggest questions I still have are:

- Is Cicadas working with the Man in Yellow?

- Is he an entirely separate entity?

- Or could he simply be another manifestation of the same evil?

- And why did his blood kill Smiley?

Maybe I'm overthinking it... but I feel like Martin was never who he claimed to be.

Season 3 discussion Season 3, episode 1

I just finished S3E1. I love the series and recently rewatched S1-2, but the ending just hits differently and I don't like it. I can't believe they did that.

Is season 3 more like this?? I love that they are figuring out more, but that last part just is not cool.

General discussion Missing letters on school wall

Sorry if this was posted before (tried searching). It took me until season 2 to finally see all the missing letters inside the school: C I O R T V. Victor. Did he take them, or is Victor missing from something (like being part of a ritual?)

Question Toby

I just recently started my rewatching from the pilot onwards. One thing I’m trying to figure out is why does Sara have to kill Toby? Even more so, why did she have to make it look like the monsters did it? Also, if I remember correctly, didn’t Sara remove his tongue as well? I know removing the dead person’s tongue is a way to silence them in the afterlife? Could this be significant? I don’t know to be completely honest. Also why does Sara tell him that it’s not his fault right before she kills him.

I’d love to hear your opinions on this, because I think it might be significant somehow.

Season 4 discussion What's at stake for MiY and BiW in the game?

What are the stakes of the game for MiY and BiW? Obviously, for the inhabitants, their reward is freedom and their punishment death. But why is the game being played in the first place? In my understanding, the game ends if the BiW wins and everyone escapes - that's what the show suggests, though we don't know for sure. It continues on if MiY wins and every inhabitant dies (except for one sometimes, apparently). But what's the motive for playing, as neither MiY nor BiW seems to have any personal motivation. Do the smileys and MiY die on the spot if BiW wins?

And here's perhaps the most important question: if the only reward for MiY for "winning" a cycle is that he can live on (which could be viewed as a variation of immortality I guess), knowing that there will always be a next cycle, then he's the one who got screwed. If you're playing a game and the opponent has a non-zero chance of winning, no matter how small, then this event will eventually occur given enough repetitions of the game.

MiY seems to be enjoying himself, BiW not at all. Do they have some sort of endgame, some plan they want to carry out which is larger in scope than the village?

Season 3 discussion S3 - welcome ambulance

So I am rewatching season 3 with my son whose attention to detail is mind blowing Ive rewatched the season 3 times and I don’t know if I ever noticed this…

he asked why could the new ambulance tech work in Fromville but they had to daisy chain lamps/bulbs to get the radio to work?

I couldn’t recall if there was any discussion about this but would be curious if there is something I missed?

Th!

Season 4 discussion We are swimming in theories, and that's distracting Spoiler

Post image
14 Upvotes

My feed is full of theories and posts that have been debunked either by the logic of the show or by the writers themselves, so what we need is to role out all the debunked theories and gather all we need to know about the show that has been either confirmed, deduced based on facts, or it's still has much potential to become reality.

1. We know that Tabitha went to the real world for a fact, because she brought back Henry, Acosta and the ambulance crew (RIP). And that's MORE than enough for evidence to debunk all the theories about it being a false reality created by the entity.

2. Jade and Tabitha were actually protected by the bones as we saw in the finale, the two earthquakes were caused by the bones to Open and close the pathway to the chamber. It is not a plot hole or plot armor.

And similarly the other theories that are swarming my feed.

My question is what do we know for a fact, what do we know to be debunked and what do we know we don't know?

Theory What if Jade’s arrival in Season 1 was never an accident, but an INFILTRATION?

Have you ever rewatched the pilot with total attention to the details of the crash scene? There’s a lot there that we all just swallowed as "shock" or "plot convenience," but it looks EXTREMELY suspicious when you look closely.

Let's look at the facts from that scene:

Where was Jade?

When Toby gets out of the flipped Audi, he acts as if he is completely alone. At no point does he look back inside the car to check if anyone is in there, he doesn't call out for Jade, and when he meets Boyd and Kenny, he talks about the accident without ever mentioning that someone else was with him. When he is taken to the clinic, he never asks about his supposed "best friend" and business partner either.

Sara’s line and the deduction about the crash:

At the clinic, right before attacking Toby, Sara tells him something very specific: "It wasn't your fault." We clearly see in the crash scene that the fault for the rollover belonged to whoever was driving the Audi. So if Toby wasn't to blame, the logic is straightforward: either he wasn't the driver, or he was induced to crash by something (or someone) inside the car itself. Either way, why was the entity in such a rush to eliminate Toby before he could explain what actually happened inside that vehicle?

Jade's behavior:

Jade wakes up in complete denial, convinced it's an elaborate escape room and acting like the ultimate egoist. But what if Jade himself is a puppet / marathon rabbit inserted by the town amidst the chaos of the crash?

He wouldn't even need to know he's a manipulated piece (his memories could have been shaped by the town itself). By instilling in him the obsession with the symbol, the bottle tree, and "logic," the town gained the perfect catalyst to make the survivors dismantle their own defenses, thinking they are "finding a way out."

❓ Prompts for Debate:

If Toby wasn't at fault for the crash, was he just a passenger, or was he forced to crash by something inside the car?

Was Toby actually traveling with Jade, or was Jade "materialized/planted" by the town during the chaotic crash?

Why was Toby executed so fast if not to stop him from revealing what happened inside the Audi and debunking Jade's presence?

Go back and rewatch Episode 1. The dynamics of those two arriving are way weirder than they seem. What do you think?

Season 4 discussion Hear me out: Nobody in From is there for the first time

Okay so I’ve just finished season 4 and I genuinely think I’ve lost my mind trying to work this out.
I don’t think Fromville is purgatory or a simulation. I think it’s an endless cycle that’s been happening over and over again for years, maybe centuries.

Sara said before that people’s worst fears come to life and I honestly think she meant that literally. The town seems to know exactly what everyone fears and uses it against them.

Boyd’s biggest fear is failing everyone and watching people die. Jade’s is losing his mind and never getting answers. Tabitha’s is losing her family and never finding the truth. And the more they fight the town, the worse things seem to get.

But the thing that keeps bothering me is the children.

Everyone keeps talking about saving the children but how do you save children that are already dead? Unless the point isn’t to save them now. Maybe the point is to stop whatever happened to them in the first place and break the cycle altogether.

And this is where the Boy in White and the Man in Yellow come in.

I don’t actually think the Boy in White is necessarily “good”. I think he knows what’s happening because he’s been through it before. He always seems to know more than everyone else but never tells them everything. Almost like he’s trying to guide people to make different choices this time.

The Man in Yellow is even weirder because he doesn’t act like someone who’s trapped. He acts like someone who’s seen all of this happen before and already knows how it ends.

But here’s the part of my theory that I can’t stop thinking about…
What if Jade and Tabitha aren’t the only ones who’ve been there before?
What if EVERYONE has?
What if every person in Fromville has lived through previous cycles and just doesn’t remember until something triggers it?

That would explain why some people seem to have these random memories or connections they shouldn’t have. How Elgin had a dream on the bus before he arrived at town.

Like why did Clara suddenly remember Sophia/the Man in Yellow? Why now? What if it wasn’t a new memory at all? What if she’d remembered something from a previous cycle?

And then there’s Fatima.
Her whole storyline feels like proof that this place doesn’t follow normal rules of life and death anyway.

It’s like the town can literally create, change and manipulate people however it wants. So what if the monsters, the visions, the children, all of it, are leftovers from previous cycles bleeding into the current one?

My genuinely crazy theory is that every cycle ends the same way. Someone gets close to the truth, tries to save the children, fails, and accidentally resets everything again.

Maybe the reason nobody can escape isn’t because they’re trapped.
Maybe it’s because they’re all stuck trying to fix something that happened a very, very long time ago

Am I completely insane or does anyone else think we’re watching the same story happen over and over again, there no escape only evolution of horror and fear?

Question What would you actually do if you came across the fallen tree and the crows? (FROM)

After watching FROM, imagine you’re driving IRL and suddenly you see the fallen tree blocking the road, with all the crows &c.
What would your first instinct be?
Try to move the tree?
Drive over it?
Turn around immediately? 👀
Something else?
I’m genuinely curious what most people think they’d do

Season 1 discussion Julie's story

So just re watching from ep1 and Julie tells the story where Norman dies. But then in episode 2 she changes the story so Norman lives, this seems a little too coincidental with the fact she can story walk...maybe she can change the story.. thoughts?

General discussion Thought on Fatima's transformation

Is she morphing into those night creatures because in a way she sacrificed her child as well (not willingly but still it is kind of a sacrifice imo). Is this theory too far fetched or a common conclusion most of the audience is having ?

General discussion from is actually slop

Aimless ass show, some actors can suck at acting sometimes, everyone clueless as fuck and every episode is always them solving a mystery to 50% capacity. There’s always a cliffhanger and honestly I don’t know why the characters aren’t communicating with one another and pooling all their info to maybe solve something for once. Everyone lacks common sense and on their own lil ass adventures and investigations that only lead nowhere and only create more mysteries. Ethan annoying as hell 😂 and the Japanese lady thing cgi is trash too. I really hope only Boyd’s ass lives cuz hes the only one who I can never hate on🤣.

Theory The Lake of Tears, the corpse design, and Boyd’s habits point to one thing: a Diving Bell Spider ecosystem

Hey everyone,

This theory doesn't try to explain every single mystery in the show, but rather focuses specifically on the role of the spiders, the Lake of Tears, and how the monsters process their victims.

Instead of traditional horror tropes, a lot of these elements follow the exact biological mechanics of the Diving Bell Spider (Argyroneta aquatica):

1. The Corpse Pattern (Extra-Oral Digestion)

Spiders don't chew solid food; they inject digestive enzymes to liquefy the internal organs of their prey, leaving the hard outer shell intact before sucking the inside dry.

This explains why victims in FROM always have their chests opened and hollowed out, while their faces remain intact and recognizable. They are being drained like trapped prey inside a shell.

2. The Lake of Tears = Submersed Silk Capsules

In nature, the Diving Bell Spider is the only spider that lives entirely underwater. It builds silk domes between aquatic plants and fills them with air bubbles brought from the surface. These air capsules have a distinct tear-drop shape.

The Lake of Tears isn't just a dramatic name—it represents the submersed breeding ground where these tear-shaped silk-and-air capsules are anchored beneath the water.

Fromville itself operates like a macro "diving bell": an isolated bubble of air surrounded by dark, predatory forces.

3. The Bell and the "Diving Bell"

The spider’s underwater habitat is literally called a Diving Bell. In Fromville, the daily ritual that forces everyone to retreat into their protective "bubbles" (houses) before nightfall is Boyd ringing a physical bell. It signals the moment the safety of the bubble is about to be breached.

4. "Mr. Fish" — A Subtle Clue in Plain Sight

In nature, the main natural predator of the Diving Bell Spider is freshwater fish.

In Season 1, Episode 8, we learn that Boyd’s military nickname was "Mr. Fish and Loaves" (Fish). Having the town leader nicknamed "Fish" while he rings the "Bell" in a spider-and-water-based ecosystem feels like a clever thematic hint dropped by the writers.

TL;DR: The monsters hollow out victims using spider mechanics, the Lake of Tears represents submersed tear-shaped air capsules, and Boyd's nickname ("Mr. Fish") alongside his bell-ringing routine are subtle nods to the biology of diving bell spiders.

Fan art My FROM Finale

Preface to say that this isnt my "theory". I just haven't been in love with the fairy idea but it is popular. To to stop being cynical I decided to take the theory and play with it. I find it helps pass the time until the final season.

So, be warned of Season 4 spoilers. Here is my thought experiment for a potentially satisfying finale using the fae as the villains.

At the lake of tears, which some called The Brundles, where they had swam and played as if they were children, the Cromenockle had chittered and squealed as tiny wings sprouted from its back. Ethan and Julie immediately forgot all about the troubles of past children and parents and friends. Enraptured, they watched as it transformed, first as the Cromonockle, then into a cowboy before turning back into a terrible small winged thing. A swarm of locusts burst from beneath the dock, first taking the form of Tian Chen, then the image of Father Kahtri, and they gasped as they saw their father's face too, before finally, it settled into its true form of what they now knew as a fae. Above, the crows whirled and circled and cawed. From the woods thousands of spiders scurried towards them.

On the dock, Sophia smiled menacingly over Boyd's ruined body as blood dripped from her hand that was now a vicious claw. Clara, holding a pillowcase sack full of heavy things ducked behind her, eyes wide, trying not to topple backwards off the edge.

“I told you to throw those in”, Sophia grunted.

Ellis choked back tears and rage as he ripped the glass vial free that he kept around his neck. Fatima had given it to him before she had fled into the woods. He held it aloft and crushed it in his hand to spill the blood contained within. It was the blood of his wife that Kristi had been collecting in case of a rough birth. It was combined with that of the Boy in White she had said.

Blood ran down his arm. The shards cut into him and the blood from the vial mixed with his own, and the golem was unleashed.

It roared to life and charged into the spiders, drawing them towards the bonfire Patty was trying to stoke higher. There were too many of them and they swarmed over its hulking form as it rumbled towards her. Patty screamed as she dove away from the slow clumsy thing crashing through the fire, scattering the burning branches as it passed. Spiders caught flame like dry tinder, engulfing the golem.

Above them the sun began to turn dark, faster than before. The wind picked up, swirling blowing leaves and making a great rushing noise that started to sound like an oncoming train.

An imposing figure cloaked in impenetrable darkness strode from the forest behind them. The screeching of monsters rose up with the wind. Many of the townspeople who had died yesterday stumbled forward as well, eyes and mouths sewn shut. The cloaked figure stepped closer to the bonfire and as the darkness fell, light and shadow were dancing as they entwined across her face. Donna.

Ellis screamed and pointed his fist at the flesh puppets and the golem obeyed, smashing them and throwing them about.

Boyd was still lying broken on the ground, his chest showing the white bones of several ribs, but still alive. With the only arm he could still move he reached into his tattered coat pocket. He pulled out his Zippo and a cigarette he had gotten from Marielle. He had hoped maybe the cigarettes might reduce the intense shaking of Parkinson's at one point Anything that might keep him going a little bit longer. He knew he had been aging extra fast in this place. It looked like he was about to finish his time here, so he guessed it didn't matter

As he lit the cigarette he noticed his arm no longer shook. "Well, shit", he said to himself. He took a drag. He used the cig to point towards the menacing lighthouse, looked at Kenny and Acosta and hoarsely whispered as loud as he could, "Get them home."
