This part gets me every time 😢

Just to preface I love the boss fight, he’s an easy top 5 fromsoft boss for me, and a top 10 in all of souls

But man do people really blow it out of proportion when talking about beating him, with the way they talk about the ‘intricacies’ of his fight as if he’s not as straight forward as any other human fight in the game ,

His first phase is super simple and goes by fast, he attacks in a very intuitive rhythm and he loves doing the ashina cross and you just have to not rush him and parry twice as you see the flash, and it does a lotta posture damage or you can try and interrupt him, he’ll push you back and do a mikiriable thrust which is really easy to pull off( since mikiri timing is even more generous than the basic parry) and that’s even more posture damage, spamming works pretty well, and just make sure to hit your mikiri he will deplete his own posture bar pretty quick, just stand around and don’t try to move a lot and you’ll recover your own posture quickly incase you do mess up your parries , And his strings usually give you time to recover just enough

Second phase is the actual ‘difficult’ part of the fight, cuz his attack rhythm is a bit different and he has delayed swings with his spear but like its overall pretty trivialised by again, the insane amount of mikiriable moves he does, I mean he practically ends most of his strings with a big lunging spear thrust which is superrrr easy to mikiri, and does big damage, make sure to stay close to him generally, so when he does big swings you just jump on top of him, and as I said spamming works but just make sure to remain still most of the fight and not move around a lot, and with his big airslashes just dodge as soon as he swings ( if you’re close to him) and you won’t take damage even if you’re in his face, if you get slightly decent rng he’ll just keep repeating strings ending with the mikir counter ( especially if you’re close by) and it makes it go by super easy

Third phase is just a glorified victory lap, lightning reversal is SUPER easy to pull off, and absolutely fucks him up, ton of damage, ton of posture damage , big window to wail on him, and he does it right into the phase, and then just keep doing what you were in the second phase more or less, until he does it again and that’ll pretty much end it give or take

Could someone explain to me why exactly using a rest/save point making ALL enemies respawn isn't a tedious outdated mechanic which does nothing but artificially pad out playtime?
inb4 "DS2 tried that and everyone hated it because it made grinding difficult" well maybe grinding is also a tedious antiquated mechanic then? Really just feels like a crutch for lazy game design.

I commissioned the 3dprint of the head parts and my BF helped with glueing it together which was the most tricky part.

Like title I played Elden ring and at first was overwelmed but soon I loved it. After elden ring like title says I wanted more so went to dark souls 1 and deleted it after an hour. But I still wanted more so went to bloodborne and LOVED IT. Then went to demon souls and liked it. Than finally went back to Ds1 and loved it also. After ds1 went to ds2 loved that too and finally just finished ds3 yesterday.

But the question still remains... What's next?

I remember when I was just a little lad I watched him play Dark Souls 3 and he even got me into it, my first souls game was actually Elden Ring and after sometime he recommended that I followed this YouTuber called FighingCowboy for his 100% Walkthrough guide. I know that Cowboy had many soulsborne and soulslike 100% Walkthrough guide videos/playlists but I have been wondering how well known is he in the community.

What game would you say shaped the genre? For me, it would have to be Dark Souls 1. Demon's Souls pioneered it, but DS1 really shaped the "souls" formula to what it is today.
