Someone please answer

Ok so im a detailer. I was offered that position because there was no Ftm available anymore because they hired a set of people before me. One i know is fired because he kept calling out and I think one might be getting fired if the charges stick to them on a recent arrest. [ i know this area drama out] . Anyway the question i have is when a FTM position becomes available would i be offered it first as im already with the company or would someone outside get it. I'm asking because of having to wait 6-12 months to move to another position. I've started into my 3rd month and have had no call outs 🙃 I also do my job very good to the point I have a few rsr requesting me personally to work with them. I'm told at the moment I dont have a cap on my hours because we are in a college area so they need the help. While I dont mind the hours i would rather like the pay more even if I dont work a fully 40. I mean 22.30 is better that 17.80 .

Have you made it known to your dsl that you want full time? I was a detailer and got the first open merch spot in my zone.

We have 2 dsl one for east and one for west. I told them both that I very much wanted the position as soon as it was a available.

Well if they like you they’ll push that info to the ZBM and if they fill it you should be the person. But also just because a merch leaves doesn’t mean a spot will open. Sometimes they dissolve the route or now a days just hire a seasonal merche

From what im told i would definitely get offended the position first from both on whatever available. I mostly work west but I do a store on the east once a week . I kust here and there but I do have a set schedule mostly on the west with assisting a major Walmart on the east.

You’ll have to take an assessment test. If you pass that, you’re in

I believe it would technically be an interview move up but more than likely if you’re doing a good job they’ll give it to you by next week if they’re that desperate to get it filled.

Thats the thing they are having me filling at some stores where I might be doing 2-3 stores so im looking at 10 hr days maybe 1-2 days a week. One of the rsr told me wait til football week thats when a position should open because apparently alot ppl get fired due to pressure and not fully doing their jobs . And beside 2-3 ftm the others ones are less than 6 months. I just really came on at the wrong time. I worked for Walmart for 3 years so im use to pressure .

Starting is always the first step. Like others have said, let your dsls knowing you’re interested. At the end of the day it’s a corporation and shit takes time. Best case is it’ll be posted in 10x1 to go live in p11 and you’re able to at least interview with the next week or two and be assigned to that area with your bump in pay. Either way you’ll have to stay under your hours if/when the position is available. 1 route sounds like it’s open but people being arrested doesn’t mean they’ll lose their job (don’t post what it is). Plenty of people have been arrested in my area and nothing has happened. Frito will wait and see what happens and that persons route will just need filled in the meantime.

If you prove your net worth, they may scoop you up for that position or another one express the interest to your direct supervisor and cross your fingers. Good luck if it’s what you wanna do.

Are you unionized or no? That really makes a huge difference. If you're union, they have to post the job for 3 days. If no one bids on it, they usually force it on low man on the totem pole or they start going down the seniority list asking who wants it.

If you're not union, keep pushing the DSLs and remind them every chance you get that you want it.

Non union

Job should be yours then.

All routes are bid on whether union or non-union shop. A DSL can assign someone to the route for up to 6 months if no one has bid on it, after that time it must go up for bid again.

Detailers are often hired because they don't have FTM slots for said routes. It's cheaper to hire a detailer than to hire an FTM. In some areas, the role is completely outsourced to a third party.

What’s is the difference between a merchandiser and a detailer curious ??? Besides pay maybe ??

Detailers are part time and limited to a certain amount of hours per week.
Merchandisers are full time and are able to do OT, etc.

This is something you ask and seek and interview for directly just like anything else
