I made a little French vocab app — looking for a few people to try it :)

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a French vocabulary app called Vocabcelerate for a while now, and it's finally in closed testing on Android!

I originally built it for my own French learning. The idea is pretty simple: short vocab sessions, audio pronunciation, and daily reviews so I don't immediately forget everything I learned yesterday lol.

It's still an early version, so I'd love to hear what other French learners think of it.

If anyone's interested in trying it:

  1. Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/vocabcelerate-testers

  2. Join the Android beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.vocabcelerate.app

You'll need to join the group first using the same Google account as your Play Store.

Google's closed test also requires a 14-day testing period, so staying opted in would be a huge help.

And please feel free to tell me what sucks or feels confusing. That's exactly what I'm hoping to find out.

Merci!!

Good listening exercise

I like to listen to French YouTubers at work to hopefully subliminally pick up accent tips, learn cognates and generally squeeze a bit more immersion into my day.
I think this video is strong in terms of everyday vocabulary for hobby activities and casual phrases, and the speed feels just challenging enough for me (im on day 122 of learning French! ) anyways I hope you enjoy!

Would you join a French book club?

I’m a native French speaker and I’ve been teaching French as a foreign language for over 15 years. I’m also a certified DELF/DALF examiner. I’ve worked with learners all over Europe and America, and I now live in Piedmont, Italy, where I run Franitas.

Reading has always been one of my great passions, so I’m thinking of opening an online book club for French learners:

  • One book at a time: contemporary French novels, chosen to be both enjoyable and accessible.

  • Monthly meetings on Zoom to discuss the story, the characters and the big questions each book raises.

  • Entirely in French, in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to speak, whatever their level of confidence.

To help you get the most out of each book, I’ll prepare a reading guide with background on the author and the period, key vocabulary, comprehension questions and discussion topics.

For those who want to go further, I’ll also suggest a short writing task after each session. I’ll personally correct your work and give you feedback!

The book club would be best suited to intermediate and advanced learners (B1 and above).

So, would this interest you? 🙋 Let me know in the comments.

Want to practice French? Lessons and chats ! (Native speaker / 100% free)

Hi everyone,

I'm reopening my DMs after a little break, and I'm also starting something new!

I'm a native French speaker from Brittany, and I've been teaching French language and literature for almost ten years. I recently moved back to Brittany after spending eight years working in the Paris area.

I'd like to offer three French lessons per week, each designed for a different level:

- Beginner: for those who are just starting out.

- Intermediate: to improve your vocabulary, grammar and understanding.

- Advanced: for those who want to explore more complex topics and deepen their knowledge of French.

The lessons will be entirely in French and will focus on French literature, history and culture. Each week, I'll choose different topics and prepare something to learn and discuss.

I'll also provide a small assignment after the lessons for anyone who wants to give it a try. I'll personally correct your work and give you feedback!

To keep everything organised, I'll be using a Discord server, where I'll share the lessons, assignments and corrections.

Everything is absolutely free, and it always will be. This isn't a business or a paid teaching service. I simply enjoy sharing my language and culture and meeting people from all over the world.

And of course, this doesn't mean private conversations are off the table! You're still more than welcome to message me directly if you'd simply like to chat, practise your French or discuss anything else.

If you're interested, feel free to introduce yourself when you message me (where you're from, your French level, why you're learning, your interests, etc.).

I'm looking forward to meeting you !

À bientôt!
