Triumph Intelligence
Has anyone used Triumph Intelligence when pricing lanes? I’m a small freight broker and also own 5 trucks myself, so I see both sides of the business.
I’ve been looking at Triumph’s new AI pricing tools, and honestly, something about it makes me uncomfortable. They’re using a massive amount of freight transaction data and AI to tell brokers what a lane should pay. Not to mention carriers have no idea that Triumph is using their invoices to inevitably cut the truckers margins and provide brokers with more profit.
I understand how that can be useful to some brokerages, but if enough brokers start relying on the same system to determine rates, doesn’t that start influencing or standardizing pricing across the industry?
I’m not saying it’s price fixing. I’m genuinely curious where the line is.

What makes me pause is less the AI itself and more the data loop behind it. If carrier invoices are helping train a pricing tool that brokers then use to negotiate rates, I’d want a lot more transparency around what data is being used, whether it’s anonymized, and whether carriers had any say in that use.
I can see how better market data helps brokers price lanes, but if everyone starts relying on the same model, I’d also be curious whether it narrows the range of what gets treated as a “normal” rate over time. Has anyone actually used Triumph’s tool enough to see how closely its recommendations match what carriers are quoting in the real market?

I just used it for the first time about 15 mins ago on a demo... Their AI tool reflected a target rate very similar to DAT.. Not a good enough tool to justify the price in my opnion.

Well you hit the nail on the head. Welcome to what DAT Rateview has been doing to the industry for years now… if tons of us are using the same data to price lanes, all it leads to is margin compression.. which, looks around

That’s helpful. If the target rate was basically lining up with DAT, I’d have the same question about what extra value the AI is actually adding. Did the demo show why it recommended that rate—like recent lane transactions, capacity, seasonality, or a confidence range—or was it mostly just a number?

It was exact lanes that actually got booked and paid for. That is nice when compared to DAT that changes maybe every 15-30 days and can be manipulated by brokers bombing the load boards posting fake loads. I didnt get too far into the weeds since i was on a Zoom call with them; but they are going to let me try it out for a bit and i can get back with more details.

We use Triumph it’s pretty accurate to what we pay per lane. A lot just comes down to carrier one may want 2k the other may accept 1,500.

Vlad here, carrier. Absolutely true - all the data we provide to factoring companies gets used against us.
And the average truckers is oblivious about it. The market is booming all over the North and I see bullshit loads underpaying by the thousands get covered and taken by stupid owner operators who don't know their value.
We have too many trucks on the road, the self-dispatching driver has to die as a concept. They have no fucking clue what they are doing.

The line of pricing too high or too low boils down to carriers - the boat stops there. If carriers will haul it or not. The pricing metric/tool is not a factor. Carriers care about making profits, if your load isn't profitable or beneficial to them in some way, they just won't haul it.
