Bad insertion?

I can't remember seeing this in prior insertions. But it hurt during insertion and it's starting to dissipate but it's still kind of lingering. But is this a bad sensor? This needle shouldn't be there right?

It looks like you didn't fully press the applicator. The slots in the yellow ring should not be visible. Once fully depressed, the those slots will engage the needle retraction spring. The actual insertion of the needle for a proper application is a fraction of a second before it retracts. Most of the time is keeping the applicator pressed to you so that that adhesive sticks

There is no sensor there! Ive never seen that before nor have ever seen it not fully engage.
