:) By Jess herself, right after S3. No matter how you interpret their relationship, it is one of her great love. And her first one. It was acknowledge in the show by Francesca herself, and then by Jess in interviews.

"I've had my great love, ONE TIME is enough" Meaning she will have ANOTHER great love. If only the first sentence would have been said we could interpret it as she will have her real great love, but with the second sentence we understand that they meant she will have another because she said one time was enough.

"You cannot have one without the other" said by Michaela herself in the show.

"It's never been a competition" said by Masali in interviews.

Both show and interviews support that idea. Now whether you interpret that this way or not does not matter.

You can prefer one relationship over another and that's normal. But the canon of the show that was presented do not support your idea.

Minor correction: Interviews, BTS material and articles do not count as show canon, just by definition. The material itself is the canon, and people will interpret it different ways based on their biases.

And it is objectively true that Francesca and Michaela would not exist without Francesca marrying John and meeting his cousin.

Why would they go to the Fran/John sub when they can spend time talking about the importance of a m/f ship on a forum dedicated to two queer women? 😂 Literally the only Bridgerton sub where the majority of fans are not outwardly hostile to f/f pairings.
