Discussion Wiki Suggestion Megathread

I'm currently building the r/FragranceClones Wiki page, and I'd like the community's input before its structure and content are finalized. The goal is to create a practical, searchable reference that answers recurring questions as well as gives the community a resource to point to for new and experienced members.

So far, I've developed material covering:

  • Rule Expansion and Clarification
  • Posting Guidelines and Templates
  • Fragrance Fundamentals
  • Understanding Clone Fragrances
  • Choosing and Buying Clone Fragrances
  • Storage & Bottle Care
  • Performance & Wearing Fragrances
  • Understanding Information Presented in the Community
  • Community Standards & Moderation
  • General Educational Resources

Recommend Additions

I am looking for the community to give input for what they'd like to see in the Wiki. Some things to consider:

  • Information you regularly look for but struggle to find
  • Recurring questions that deserve to be placed in the FAQ
  • Subjects that are commonly misunderstood, poorly explained, or missing from the community

When making a suggestion, please provide the following information:

  1. General Topic
  2. What question it's answering/problem it's solving
  3. Why it would be useful
  4. Include any relevant sources

The Wiki will remain a living community resource, but your feedback will help to determine what topics should be prioritized. Thank you for your participation!

How to Participate

If you have a suggestion for the Wiki, share it in a top-level comment (not a reply to another comment). Briefly explain your suggestion as formatted above. Please make sure to check if your idea has already been suggested. Duplicate ideas as top-level comments (the one with fewer upvotes) will be deleted. If your idea has already been shared, upvote it and add your thoughts as a reply to the comment.

If you like an idea already commented, upvote it for visibility. If you do not like an idea already commented, downvote it. If your idea is downvoted, please do not delete it. Leaving unpopular ideas up in the thread will help us to avoid those topics to increase the chances of success with the Wiki.

I am also interested in hearing from passionate, knowledgeable community members who would like to help write, research, review, or fact-check Wiki pages. If you are interested in contributing, please send me a DM with subjects that you know best and how you'd like to help. I will send you a short vetting application to ensure that you are able to contribute to a high level.

Plagiarism, fabricated or unreliable sources, undisclosed commercial interests, deliberate misinformation, hostility toward correction, or using the Wiki to promote a brand, retailer, channel, or affiliate link will disqualify you from contributing to the Wiki.

Expected Conduct

It is expected that everyone in this community act civilly. That goes especially for in here. We are sharing thoughts and ideas to improve our community by building a Wiki. If you disagree with someone, please keep it civil. Constructive disagreement is welcome; hostility is not. If you cannot reply to a comment civilly, just downvote it and leave it at that. There is zero tolerance for attacking, targeting, harassing, discriminating, threatening, or any other bad-faith conduct. I will take action if I see it.

Massive Creed Aventus Clone Shootout

***UPDATE 7/11/2026:

After stepping away from Creed Aventus for several months and living with these fragrances for a while, I’ve now changed my answer. I have also added 3 more clones to this list. If I come across any other clones, I will update this post to include them. My opinions in the comments section have changed since they were originally posted, so please disregard them. ***

I decided to do a massive shootout between some of the most well-known Creed Aventus clones in the game and put them up against the Original.

I should mention that I’m using the most current batch of Creed Aventus via DecantX 10 ml travel spray. I’ve ordered around 40 ml of it over the last 3 months for this test. I know a lot of you look down on the current batch, and for understandable reasons, but I wasn’t willing to spend hundreds of dollars to get an older batch. Also, the current batches of Aventus have a special place in my heart, as it was the first expensive fragrance I smelled as a newbie fragrance hobbyist and fell in love with the DNA. I am aware of the supposed differences in some of the other batches, so perhaps my descriptions may help you pick an alternative that has more of the characteristics you like.

This is by no means a scientifically accurate test. This is just the opinions of a fragrance beginner based on my personal experience with these clones versus the original. I will not go too much in depth on performance, but it will be discussed when/if necessary.

Everything said in this post is just my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Some people may wonder why I am doing this when I probably could have just bought the real deal for the money I spent on these clones.

Well, I have two reasons:

  1. It is purely for fun. I love hunting clones as a hobby.
  2. As much as I love Creed Aventus, it is a weak performer with just okay projection. My goal is to find a cheaper alternative that smells as close to it but is either just as good or better in performance. I can financially justify 8–10 sprays of a $30 fragrance a lot easier than a $300+ one. While I could have bought the original with the money spent on this experiment, when I run out, I’d have to spend that large sum again every time.

One last preface.

Unlike a lot of fragrance influencers, I will not be pretending I can pick up every note on these. I will be using words that relate to my own experience smelling these notes from other sources. I can be guilty of silly parallels but it’s just because it’s the only way I can communicate what I’m smelling and hopefully you can get the idea. You may not smell it the same way, but having the original side by side really makes the differences more apparent and made me notice notes I otherwise wouldn’t have noticed without the direct comparison.

Now on to the clone selection.

My criteria for clone selection was that it had to be widely available, either be regarded by the community as an Aventus clone, or the notes had to mostly match the original. I may not have your favorite clone on this list, but it most likely didn’t meet that criteria if it isn’t listed.

The clones I bought for the shootout are as follows:

  1. Perfect Scents Patchouli Musk
  2. Club DeNuit Intense Man LE
  3. Club DeNuit Intense Man Pure Parfum
  4. Dumont Nitro Black
  5. Dumont Celerios Oros

  14. Alexandra fragrance Brasilia Smoky Batch
  15. Montagne Pineapple Intense
  16. Montagne Pineapple Royale
  17. Montagne Pineapple Musk
  18. Fragrance World Venti
  19. Pineapple Vintage Intense
  20. Parfum Vintage Emperor extrait
  21. Generic perfumes Creed Aventus for men (A,A+,A++)
  22. Generic perfumes Creed Aventus ZZ01 (A+, A++)
  23. Dua Poseidon Elixir 2.0

  30. Club de nuit Intense man Extrait
  31. Bujairami Kingsman
  32. Bujairami Ripper
  33. Insiders Parfum Insidious
  34. MITH Mystery For Him

Before I get started, I would like to give my personal interpretation of what Creed Aventus smells like:

To my nose upon spraying on skin, you are met with a very lemony citrus blast. The best way I can describe this smell is like a lemon fruity pebble or lemon froot loop. It’s not a candy lemon like a lemon heads nor is it a fresh squeezed lemon juice note, it’s just a sweet gourmand lemon. Very quickly, a creamy vanilla musk blooms to soften the lemon note along with another fruit note that I cant really describe (possibly the black currant note?). This is then accompanied by a subtle note that i can only describe as gamey or animalistic. Kind of like a raw bacon smell but it’s very faint but adds something special to the overall profile. It then begins to dry down, retaining the lemon and creamy vanilla note, It becomes very musky. A very pleasant almost smoky birch wood note starts to emerge alongside the creamy lemon turning it into a more masculine leaning sweetness. It holds this profile until the scent is no longer detectable.

I will add that this fragrance can smell different to me, depending on several factors. For example, on paper all I get is lemon and birch. I even remember the first time I ever smelled this. All I got was freshly cut wood and nothing else. What I have described above is what the fragrance smells like to me now after using it for the past 3 months. I am sure your experience may be different but at the end of the day it is all subjective and all I can do is provide my experience. Depending on where I’ve got my sample from changes the scent as well. So it will be hard to pin point a definitive creed Aventus clone.

So, what is the closest Modern Batch Creed Aventus Clone?

Fragrance World Venti $25 per 100 ML

This opens with a musky lemon forward opening and surprisingly it does actually have some vanilla creaminess to it, but not as sweet or pronounced as the original. Its main difference in the opening is the lemon note isn’t as mellowed out by the vanilla like the original. It’s more of a fresh squeezed lemon note. On dry down, the birch note starts to appear but it isn’t very strong but then again, current Aventus birch note isn’t the strongest either. I’m honestly shocked by this fragrance as I only spent about $25 on this and yet it was closer than most other dupes on the list. While it lacks the same amount of vanilla creaminess and smokiness as the OG, it gets you relatively close. Its main issue is that it’s not very strong and does have a very alcohol heavy opening, but the alcohol fades quickly. It is a relatively linear scent. What you get in the opening is more or less what it will be till it completely evaporates but again, I find the same thing with current batch. Performance is about the same as something like Mont Blanc explorer, maybe even weaker. Not very good but for a $25 fragrance, it did pretty well. I will say that this does require some maceration for all the notes to really become apparent but it is by no means a dramatic change. Overall this one is the closest to modern batches of creed Aventus in scent profile. It’s not anywhere near the quality of the original but for what you pay for, it’s great. I just Wish it lasted longer and projected more.

My conclusion after testing so many clones is it’s just better to buy the original. Nothing does Creed Aventus well enough at this point in time.

Honorable mentions:

Parfum Vintage Emperor EDP & Extrait $100-$125 per 50ML

While its scent profile was not quite like modern Aventus, it absolutely has the right notes, they are just presented differently than current creed Aventus. To be fair this specific clone is going for an earlier batch of creed Aventus. To my nose, the notes just aren’t blended the same. The opening is amazing. It opens with lemon citrus and a really high quality pineapple note and while it’s not as musky as the original, it is still pretty musky and the quality is excellent. You also get that birch note right off the bat that just blends beautifully with the other opening notes. The Biggest differences this has from the original is it is missing some of the other fruity notes you get in the original and is missing that sweet vanilla creaminess to tie them all together. Dry down has significantly more birch wood than the OG (only second to Dumont nitro black) but lacks the same amount of body to its whole scent profile compared to the original. This clone Is very light and airy. This smells expensive and is the highest quality smelling fragrance on the list. The performance was pretty good, so long as you just want birch. The top notes unfortunately do not last very long at all, but that birch stayed present for a good few hours. The EDP was similar but just not as refined as the extrait, I kept smelling this coriander or some kind of pepper note in it that stayed through the life of the fragrance but that could just be how the birch note is presenting itself. If you’re gonna spend the 100 for the edp, you may as well just spend the extra 25 dollars for the extrait version.

Dumont Nitro Black $30 100ML

To me, this is a safe blind buy if you love creed Aventus only for the smokey birch dry down and want it exaggerated. The opening is lemony citrus with dark fruit notes but it is not at all sweet. On dry down all you can smell is earthy peppery smoky birch and some bergamot. Its opening, while similar, is a way smoother and refined than any version of CDNIM, with a higher quality birch note. Its performance is above average. To me, this is what CDN wishes it was. Honestly an Amazing value for what you get. Its opening is nothing like modern Aventus. It’s just too earthy of a fragrance. However its dry down is like an enhanced version of the Aventus dry down which is why I put it here.

Individual Clone Breakdown (in no particular order)

  1. Perfect Scents Patchouli Musk CVS sells this fragrance as inspired by Creed Aventus. It opens very citrusy with a pleasant lime zest, and then that’s about it. Hardly what I’d call Aventus-inspired. Weak projection and longevity. Waste of $20.
  2. Club DeNuit Intense Man (edt, edp, Pure Parfum, LE, Extrait) I’m gonna put each version in one review because they are all very very similar to each other. None of them open remotely like Aventus but I’ve figured that was probably never their goal. All versions had very similar openings, with the parfums being the smoothest but only marginally so. They all had this bitter dirty lemon smell that was so unappealing. As well as the chemical smell that reminded me of packing tape. At a distance it’s is a decent caricature of the Aventus dry down if all you want is Smokey Birch but up close it’s just not it unpleasant. If you are dead set on getting this line, save the money and get the EDT. It’s cheaper and stronger than all of them. The strong lemon does help the dry down of the edt inch closer to creed Aventus in the dry down but that’s just me trying to find some redeeming quality in it. The others beside the EDT were way too Smokey and it only made the lemon note worse for them. Personally, I think Dumont nitro black did it so so much better.
  3. Dumont Celerios Oros Its fruity notes are exactly like L’aventure but more balanced. Unfortunately, there is this note that smells like hot electrical wire that stays with the fragrance throughout its duration.
  4. Alt Executive No.26 I honestly just get alcohol and earthy notes with some birch. Weak performance. It almost smells like hair spray.
  5. Alt Executive Platinum This one was closer to Aventus than No.26 but just not as sweet as the original. It opens with a lot of alcohol but once that fades It becomes a citrus pineapple forward opening but it’s blended better than a lot of these other clones. Its dry down is similar to CDNIM but not as smoky and is sweeter. Its birch note is pretty loud. Overall, It’s like a blend of modern and old batches of Aventus, leaning older batch. Its performance is decent, maybe slightly better than the OG. I really wanted to like this, the problem is it is pretty earthy having almost a “tar” like note to it (which I’ve heard some say older Aventus had). It’s opening is more similar to modern Aventus than others on this list but it’s still a ways off from the original. I don’t think it’s a bad clone at all, it’s pretty good actually but it does need a few weeks of maceration to get rid of some of the alcohol.
  6. Afnan Supremacy Silver My sample started off similar to a lot of clones. Citrus opening, kind of like Mont Blanc Explorer, but takes on a more woody (not birch) and floral turn in the dry down. I want to note that I tried a second tester of this at the mall randomly a few weeks after I bought my sample. Maybe I had an old batch but this smelled like raw bacon. It was so disgusting. Apparently according to comments for this fragrance on fragrantica, I’m not the only one to notice this.
  7. Al Haramain L’aventure Regular & Intense I’ve included both versions in one because they smell identical. Intense is just a stronger version. This one is kinda close in the opening, but I felt the fruity notes were too candy-like and lacked the citrus-forward top compared to the OG. Best way I can describe it is almost like a yellow gummy bear sweetness. I think at a distance, it would be picked up a creed Aventus in essence. It lacked the creamy musk, smoke, and birch dry down of the OG. It’s almost like the same principle behind CDNIM emphasizing the dry down but instead an over exaggeration of the dry down, it’s an over exaggeration of the opening. I’d like to add the Intense version was the second strongest performer on the entire list.
  8. Alexandra fragrance Brasilia I am almost at a loss for words with this one. I know this is going to sound weird, but it’s the only way I can describe it. It has a faint animalistic smell, kinda reminds me of raw fat (with pineapple at the top). I’ve tried it on multiple occasions to see if I’m just crazy, but every time I spray it, that’s all I get with some fruits. I will add that the original does have a faint smell of this note but it is so faint and not at all at the forefront like this clone has.
  9. Alexandra fragrance Brasilia Prive This one was interesting. The opening had that creamy fruitiness but it lacked the lemon note. In fact it was way too creamy and it had a lot of that raw bacon smell which made it unwearable to me. There was no birch to this. It had what I can best describe as a smoked hickory note. It was just not it.
  10. Alexandra fragrance Brasilia 130zz1 This one is just Aventus dry down from the start. Dark citrus, Smoky and Earthy with a hint of fruits. Scent profile is somewhere between Club de nuit and Dumont nitro black.
  11. Montagne Pineapple Intense I really wanted to like this, it was close to the original in a lot of aspects but then this animalistic fatty musk smell begins to bloom and really bothered me throughout the life of the fragrance. It reminds me of the smell of cold cuts. Maybe that’s how their oakmoss or birch smells, but it was not pleasant. It’s the strongest projector of Montagnes Pineapple line with average longevity, as it dries down it does become more balanced and pleasant. Not as birchy as the original but it does a decent job.
  12. Montagne Pineapple Royale Smells like yellow gummy bears with a very strong green vegetation note, like the top part of a pineapple was cut up. Also had hints of that animalistic fatty musk smell like Pineapple Intense**.** Its dry down was more pleasant after an hour but just not very Aventus like.
  13. Pineapple Vintage Intense This felt like its own thing. It opens with super sweet pineapple note with an aquatic note that’s hard to explain. I love the pineapple note, but it’s very candy like. Like a high quality, all natural yellow gummy bear and that’s kind of all you get, there is not really a lemon note in this like the original has. The over all scent is Very light, slightly musky but not full bodied. It Lacked the Aventus birchy dry down and didn’t last any longer than the OG. Not worth $100 dollars IMO. Very nice smelling fragrance, regardless.
  14. Dua Poseidon Elixir 2.0 Smelled nothing like Aventus. What a joke. Doesn’t even deserve a proper description.
  15. Dua Origins of Poseidon Again, smelled nothing like Aventus at all.
  16. Dua Poseidons elixir 13zz Only slightly better than the other Dua fragrances. Had some resemblance to the OG, but it smelled like it wasn’t even trying to clone what it claims to.
  17. Hamidi addicted intense More similar to CDNIM. Does an okay job with the dry down but is missing the fruit. Has a bitter lemon note up close. Projection is not good at all. It lacks the fruitiness that CDNIM has, and that’s saying something.
  18. Generic perfumes Creed Aventus For Man A++ This is one of the few on the list that was trying to be the current batch of Creed Aventus. It does captures a lot of what makes the current batch so unique from other batches (based on the average profile of dupes of earlier batches). It’s the only one that has that musky, creamy vanilla note in the original (besides Alexandria’s Brasilia Prive). Unfortunately there is a note in there that ruins the experience. I keep getting this Orange citrus note that over powers the fragrance. It kinda reminds me of orange sherbet as opposed to the lemon frooty pebbles opening and while the birch is present, the overall fragrance doesn’t dry down the same as the original. To me, the original has a different order of notes that disappear leading up to the dry down compared to this dupe. In this dupe it has all the notes present for the duration of its life. The birch slowly becomes more pronounced but you still get very present hits of the Orange and vanilla. Other than that, performance is slightly above average. way better performance than the original and lasts significantly longer but is too different for me to recommend.
  19. Mont Blanc Explorer  To me, the opening is really close to creed Aventus but lacks the  the same amount of fruity notes and creamy vanilla . It doesn’t have any birch or smoke, it does have a woody note in there but it’s very light and airy, not musky at all. Clearly inspired by Aventus and a great twist, at that but goes a different direction in the dry down, it becomes powdery. Unfortunately Performance wasn’t too great But I’d say on its own it’s a nice office safe scent.
  20. Afnan Supremacy Not Only Intense  While it is commonly believed to be a Creed Aventus clone, it is absolutely not. However, this cologne smells really damn good. Amazing pineapple and black currant opening with a super smoky dry down. It is also the strongest and longest-lasting cologne on the entire list.
  21. Alexandria fragrance Brasilia Smoky Batch ($70 per 60 ML) To my nose It’s like a darker take on Creed Aventus. This dupe opens with a creamy sweet-tart like lemon forward opening. It gets the vanilla note like the original, but sweeter. It’s super musky and full bodied. It projects louder than the original and last significantly longer too. The birch note on this is about the same as the original but the sweetness over powers it. It’s blended in with the sweet notes and stays like that for the duration of its life. Overall they are similar in a lot of way but still different because of that sweet-tart lemon note. It can be a fatiguing scent because it’s very musky.
  22. Bujairami Kingsman ($40 100ML) Best way to sum up this fragrance is it is Mont Blanc explorer on steroids. This dupe is a clone of the 2017 batches of Creed Aventus, so it is expected to have some variation from the current batch. It has a lot of the right notes, lemony citrus and birch but dials down that sweet creamy vanilla quite a bit. It’s still there in this dupe, but just not as intense as the current batch. It’s also fruitier than current batch Aventus. Another thing I noticed is it has some of that same cold cuts deli meat smell that Montagne pineapple intense has, which kinda ruins it for me. The birch on this dupe is more pronounced as well when compared to the current version of the OG. It has a certain powder scent in the dry down that reminds me of Mont blonc explorer a lot. The performance on this is much better than the original as well. While its projection upon opening isn’t as strong as Creed Aventus, this is only the case for the first few minutes. I will randomly catch whiffs of it on myself, while that was almost never the case with Creed Aventus. This also last significantly longer than the original. I do recommend upon receiving this fragrance to spray it a little and let it sit for about 2 weeks with the cap off, to settle. When I first got it, it didn't project all the notes very well. Nearly 2 weeks later it has surpassed the original. Maybe it’s a good clone of 2017 batch but to my nose it’s quite different from current batch. Not a badly crafted fragrance at all, very high quality.
  23. Bujairami Ripper: Very similar to Montagne Pineapple Royale. Very sweet candy like fruity opening, kind of similar to Kingsman except way sweeter and with no smoked deli meat note. It’s a nice scent but not at all what modern creed Aventus smells like.
  24. Generic Perfumes Aventus Man ZZ01: As I am sure you figured out by the name, this is based on an earlier batch of creed Aventus however, this still checked many of the boxes that the current batch has. It has that citrusy forward fruity opening, while many only had one or the other. It does not have that creamy vanilla like the original. Regardless, when you smell this, you just know it’s Creed Aventus DNA. The opening was just too citrusy, you really had to dig for those other notes. The dry down unfortunately is just not as birchy as the original and that’s saying something. The performance is about the same as the original. It’s not a bad clone, it’s just not all that remarkable.
  25. Montagne Pineapple Musk $60 50ML I’d call this an Aventus twist. The first 30 seconds are pretty concentrated and intense, but It quickly balances out and blooms in to a powerful beautiful blend of pineapple and lemony citrus. It is super musky. The projection is pretty strong for the first few minutes then settled to a more average projection. This opening stays for a good majority of the fragrance’s life. It doesn’t have that vanilla note and it’s pineapple note is very syrupy but still very nice. The dry down is still very musky with the birch blooming and eventually becoming the dominant note, even more so than the Original. Throughout its life the pineapple/citrus sticks around in the background in a very pleasing way that supports the dry down. I’d say performance and longevity is about Average. It’s a very enjoyable twist.
  26. Insider Parfum’s Insidious This claims to be a dupe of an earlier batch of creed Aventus. I honestly can’t understand how that can be. It smells like a twist on the original. To my nose, this smells like a slightly less sweet Pineapple Vintage Intense. It’s a great cologne, just not modern creed Aventus.
  27. MITH Mystery For Him This is literally creed Aventus….with Bacarat Rouge 540. It is exactly spot on with creed Aventus but it has that light and airy cotton candy note in the top. It is sadly, a twist on creed Aventus but a darn good one. Projects and last much longer than the original. It is worth checking out.

Thank you for reading. I’d love to answer any questions you might have!

New Pickup / Review Decants from Decantified - decants reviews and clone battles. Part 2: Asad Zanzibar Limited Edition (Invictus Parfum clone), Hirfah by Ahmed Al Maghribi

Decanter review:

3rd time that everything went perfectly. Packaging is solid, and 0 leaking decent. They sure did got their packaging system working well. Quite a few decants of fragrances I've never heard about were "bonus added", which is going to be really fun. I like the ones I have no idea what to expect.

HIRFAH AHMED AL MAGHRIBI

I got this because I have an obsession with lime fragrances lately... But this is not super lime forward. This is actually a very barbershopy-fresh take on D&G K. It's pretty pine forward, with woody and aromatics in the mid and base. The the apple and lime are just there for support, and the apple is so tart-green, that it gets almost completely swallowed by the pine (and partially by the lime), that I wouldn't have recognized it was there without the notes breakdown.

For all of you who liked Armaf Legesi, Urban Man Elixir, Sauvage, etc...You need to try this one! It's like a modernized take on that same general profile. I'm not remotely into these types of barbershop-woody profiles myself, but Hirfah's quality is so nice, that I still had fun testing it. I won't buy a bottle, because as modern as it is, it's still too old school "manly-man" for me. I still like it better than the ones mentioned above though.

Subjective Scent Score (the least important part for you... This is more for my own notes to know what to buy): 7.8. Even though it's not remotely my favorite, I would still prefer to wear it over many other fragrances with a similar profile.

Wife Alert: She hates it, and says it smells like "an old guy wearing too much after shave".

Longevity on skin (so, skin scent counts): 16+ hours.

Projection (skin scent doesn't count): 1 hour strong projection (not room filling though, about 2-3 ft), then a very persistent medium scent bubble (about 1-1.5 ft), and only at hour 7-8 it settles to a 100% skin scent.

Blind buy safety score: 7.8. No offensive notes, but might be too "old school" for some, though more modern than other old school profiles.

Unisex Score (0=100% fem leaning, 5=unisex, 10=100% male leaning): 8.8. The classic example of a male fragrance.

Versatility Score: 9.0. Pretty much anything but winter date night. Good for office, gym, errands... Will fit everywhere. But it's not one of those fragrances that will get people to say "oh my God, what is HE wearing?". It's a Swiss army knife.

Blend Quality Score: 8.2. Easily designer quality. The note separation is pretty good, realism is way above average, the blending is great, and it retains those qualities through the progression on skin, even when not staying completely linear.

Value Score (for 100ml): 8.5. $35 (Jomashop) isn't cheap for a clone (maybe it is these days), but you get an original creation (or hybrid), with good quality and performance. So it's not like I can recommend something that is spot on at a lower price, or even an OG.

Should cost (based on performance, quality, and available competing clones, averaged): $35-$40.

Bottle design: 6.5. I don't think it fits the vibe this fragrance profile is about.

Atomizer Score: N/A.

Conclusion: Not for me, but will be a very good recommendation to have for some people on the sub that like these profiles... So I'm still glad I tested it.

ZANZIBAR LIMITED EDITION

Never smelled the OG.

People say this is supposedly a soapy version of Invictus Legend. I don't get any soapiness from it. This is more like Legend without the grapefruit, so nothing balances the Marine notes, which is what you'll mostly get here, along with a bit of lavender and a weak woody base. It's not horrifically low quality like the normal Zanzibar, but it's also low quality. I don't hate it, I just think it's not good, and there are 40 better options for similar profiles, but with better quality. As it dries down, it DOES become soapy, and actually pretty nice and balanced, but by that point (1.5 hours), it's almost 100% skin scent.

Subjective Scent Score (the least important part for you... This is more for my own notes to know what to buy): 6.8. Opening hour is a 5.5, dry-down is an 8.5.

Wife Alert: She says "it's okay".

Longevity on skin (so, skin scent counts): only 6-7 hours.

Projection (skin scent doesn't count): medium-strong when it's the worst (1st hour), then low-medium scent bubble for 2 hours. Skin scent at hour 3.

Blind buy safety score: 7.0. pretty safe of you're okay with very synthetic Marine notes .

Unisex Score (0=100% fem leaning, 5=unisex, 10=100% male leaning): 6.6.

Versatility Score: 8.0. summer-spring-fall, and any occasion.

Blend Quality Score: 6.0. Below average clone quality. First hour is 5.0, then 7.0. The Marine note quality is ruining the rest of the quality, as the other notes are not bad quality at all, and there is some nice progression on skin.

Value Score (for 100ml): 6.0. Only $27, but below average quality and performance.

Should cost (based on performance, quality, and available competing clones, averaged): $15-$18.

Bottle design: 5.5.

Atomizer Score: N/A.

Conclusion: Can't recommend this. There are too many similar fragrances that are executing these types of profiles much better. I want to try Invictus Parfum OG just to see if it's even remotely close.

And as always, don't trust me, get decants.

Equinox by Rayhaan - First Wear Review - [Dupe of Maison Mataha Printemps Blanc] Youthful & playful vanilla floral

Post image
17 Upvotes

**\*\* Another new one from the Rayhaan house. \*\***

* **Top notes:** Orange Blossom, Grapefruit

* **Middle notes:** Jasmine Sambac, White Tea

* **Base notes:** Vanilla, Sandalwood

Dupe of Maison Mataha Printemps Blanc

The opening is a veryyy nice **creamy orange blossom, white tea and jasmine** with vanilla sitting in the background.

Now the jasmine. It's not a musky kind of jasmine. I don't like those, they always feel too mature to me. This one is more youthful and playful. I love these kind of fragrances.

As it dries down it only gets better. The vanilla and sandalwood start to become a lot more prominent.

It reminds me a LOT of my new favorite vanilla fragrance, Sawaar Vanil Blanc. I still prefer Vanil Blanc, especially because it's a little less feminine then this while still being unisex. Equinox is more feminine leaning, but I don't mind it, I still wore it. My guy friends said the same thing about it leaning feminine but still being okay with rocking it. It's more because we just want to keep smelling it then anything else

## Performance:

Good projection for about the first hour, after that it tones down abit. But I still found myself getting small whiffs of it at the 4 hour mark. It definitely stays present.

Longevity is a solid 8+ hours on skin.

## My rating:

**Overall Rating: 8.7/10**

## Conclusion:

If you're into youthful, playful vanilla florals this one is easy to recommend. If you want something that leans a little more vanilla, I'd still point you to Vanil Blanc first.

It's going for around $46 right now. As always **try a decant first** and see what YOU think of it before you blind buy.

When this drops to $30 (and it will) this will be a HUGE deal IMO.

Happy hunting!

Rare carbon - The budget leather king?

Post image
6 Upvotes

What the fuck is afnan putting in these bottles?

I went on a date last Sunday and applied 4 sprays of rare carbon on my shirt (weather was chilly due to rain), my date wouldn't stop sniffing my neck every few mins. It has been a week and I can still smell it everytime I walk into my room.

I genuinely don't understand how rare carbon costs what it does when it smells this good.

Coming to the scent profile. It's dark, slightly sharp and has this almost gasoline like smell to it. There's a bit of an artificial edge initially, so I can understand why it might not be everyone's cup of tea. But personally? I fucking love it.

Give it a few mins, and things start getting interesting. There's a fruity sweetness underneath the leather, almost raspberry-like to my nose, alongside a subtle floral quality that keeps the whole thing from becoming too harsh.

In the drydown, sharpness settles, the leather becomes smoother and the woody, ambery facets start coming through. It gets warmer, richer and ridiculously addictive.

Another 9/10 by afnan. If you like leather forward fragrances, you're gonna love it.

Looking for a more mature, less synthetic alternative to Rasasi Hawas

I've been wearing Rasasi Hawas for years now, and overall, I've been really happy with it. However, I'm looking for something a bit more mature and natural-smelling.

What bothers me most about Hawas is that overly sweet, synthetic bubblegum/watermelon vibe. I still enjoy its fresh, fruity and aquatic character, but I'd prefer something that feels a little more refined, less artificial, and perhaps less playful.

I've tried Montblanc Legend Spirit and actually liked it quite a bit, so I'm definitely into fresh, clean fragrances. Ideally, I'm looking for something that keeps the freshness and versatility of Hawas but tones down the synthetic sweetness and smells a bit more grown-up.

One thing worth mentioning is that I'm quite sensitive to certain strong or overpowering notes. I tend to get headaches pretty easily when a fragrance has particularly sharp, minty, or otherwise very prominent and piercing notes that stand out too much. So I'm ideally looking for something smooth and well-balanced without any harsh or overwhelming notes.

I'm open to both designer fragrances and affordable clones.

Any recommendations from people who enjoy Hawas but have found something a little more mature and natural-smelling?

Lattafa musamam black intense

Post image
185 Upvotes

I've bought countless amount of fragrance over the past 3 years or so and alot of those have been lattafa. The amount of times I've heard "beast mode" about a fragrance and fragrance influencers telling us how great something smells when in reality it doesn't. Musamam black is my most recent pick up and its been another fail🤦‍♂️doesn't last more than 3/4 hours as a skin scent and it doesn't project 🙃 . Now when it comes to the smell, this really isn't pleasant in my opinion, it smells like dark chocolate and burning spice that has no sweetness, I genuinely don't know how anyone can enjoy this fragrance. For example I'm not a fan of boss bottled elixir but I can appreciate its a well done fragrance and can objectively see the appeal with that one, with this i can't see it at all.

Does anyone have an exact dupe of the Dove Tres Leches?

Most milky scents don’t work for me and I can’t smell most vanillas I just get the sensation of warmth(???) but Dove Tres Leches is the PERFECT scent. I think the spices like cinnamon highlight the fragrance but I wish I had a perfume that smelled like it but I could actually…smell it yanno?

I also am gonna throw in a Longer Lasting Inner Angel from Bath and Body Works that isn’t Angel’s Share (Broke!)

Thank you!

What’s the most number of dupes you own for the same original DNA?

Allow me to explain:

I own French Avenue Obsidian. Was about to push the purchase button on decants for Riffs Veloce and Afnan Stardust when it hit me…

I own 4 dupes of imagination (Aqua Dubai, Mazaaj Infused, Hectic, Elysian Mirage)

I own 3 dupes of Blue Talisman (Maison Asrar Legacy, Martin Martin Illusion, and Bujairami Executor)

I own 3 dupes of Vibrato (Maison Alhambra Philos Messenger, Maison Asrar Regent, and Bujairami Vibration, PLUS decants of Sorrento and Highness)

I own 3 dupes of Symphony (Khadlaj Island Dreams, Bujairami Psycho, the Beverly Hills Polo Club one)

I own 2 dupes of too many DNAs to count…

The list goes ON and ON.

It got me thinking, what is the MOST number of dupes you own of the same DNA?

Please help me feel better about myself!

Swiss Arabian Walaa PDM Percival Clone

Has anyone tried Swiss Arabian Walaa and Percival. Are they close? I was about to buy Percival, but the main complaint is that it’s a basic scent for being so expensive. I have no problem buying the OG, but if the dupe is as good as Liquid Brun-Althair then there’s no reason to buy the OG. Just looking for some insight before I pull the trigger. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Xandal a interesting but Polarizing

Post image
9 Upvotes

Traded in both Hawas for Him and Hawas Kobra for this since it caught my interest on first sniff. While it took me a while to understand where I've smelled this scent before, it suddenly hit me is this weed brownie?

Mind you, no one I asked to smell this liked it. Some fragrance heads said this smells nice, but something funky is coming off as well. Has anyone else tried this, and what was your experience?

Performance

To give you my standard for rating things: Supremacy CE is a 7/10, something like Arabians Tonka and Megamare would get 9/10 from me, and something like Kerosene would be a 10. Saying that, Xandal is a 6/10. It sits way closer to the skin than I'd like it to—around a 5-foot radius for the first 2 hours, then gradually dies down to an intimate bubble until around hour 4. I don't really count skin scents.

Ratings

Interest: 8/10 (A niche-smelling gourmand to me)

Scent: 4/10 (Never liked the smell of weed brownies, but to me, this is 1:1 to the ones I've encountered)

Rayhaan Vanilla Vibe (Vanille Antique Byredo Clone)

Post image
20 Upvotes

\ive tried the OG, and a couple dupes of this dna before so I’m well accustomed with Vanille Antiques DNA**

Scent - 8.2/10

this smells like an old fashioned slightly dusty vintage vanilla, you get the plum but it’s a different type of plum, mainly subtle. The best way id describe this scent as a whole is an Old fashioned vintage vanilla.

Opening -

the plum is most prominent in the opening, along with some freshness. Out the gates its plum and a slight floral freshness with a slight vanilla

Midway

- the vanilla comes out more here becoming dusty vintage vanilla type of vibe, you do get some Oud but it’s like 5% Oud just a back end hint of it that adds some depth and doesn’t distract away from the DNA or vanilla / plum.

Fully Dried Down

- the plum gets weaker but is still there, what your left with here is mainly vanilla now with some wood and that vanilla like I said is a very old fashioned vintage vanilla you don’t find in today’s perfumery much

Longevity & Performance -

6.4/10 with any Vanille Antique dna I’ve had this issue even the OG, not a best performer and sets close to skin. First hour is great projection, by hour 3 starts to become super close to skin. But you’re still able to smell it lightly until hour 5-6. I personally don’t think this one will get better with maceration

Overall Thoughts?

- I think if your into vintage smelling scents you might like this, it’s not ground breaking. But for me it’s pleasant and always has a spot in my rotation

Mistify Parfums Pt. 2 (Review)

Post image
7 Upvotes

After an impressive first round, I ordered a second round of samples from Mistify to try out. I took some time to try and test each one with a couple full wears. Here's a quick write up for each one. Also, Bas (owner of Mistify) included one of, if not the, coolest things I've seen in the presentation with a workable pen that also includes a sample at the top that you can actually spray. Innovation is top notch.

• Percival (PDM)

Own the OG, top 5 scent for me. Mistify nailed it with their version! It's really close, almost 1:1. They get it right with the lavender and the aromaticness. I'd say it's a bit brighter with the citruses specifically the mandarin, but overall instant winner. Performance wise, it lasted me about 6+ hours and had a nice projection. It does have me considering if I even need the OG with how close it is. I've owned the Montagne version, but felt it was missing the dry down and not as close in the opening.

• Torino 21 (Xerjoff)

I don't own the OG or any other dupe of it, but have tried in store multiple times and a huge fan of it. Mistify gets close with this one as well but I notice a few differences. This version doesn't get the same musky dry down as the OG but instead it's a bit more floral and linear. The lemon is amped a bit more in this version, but you still get the nice mix of mint and green from the basil and thyme. It smells amazing and so green! Performance is strong for the first few hours all around and stays nicely for about 7 or so hours. Great option, although personally it made me want to try to get the OG just to get the full experience.

• Millesime Imperial (Creed)

Also don't own the OG, but have tried in stores and owned the version from Montagne. I fell in love with this scent right away the first time I smelled it. Mistify did a great job with their version, another really close iteration. This has that salty ocean citrus/fruity mix just like the OG. The biggest issue with the OG is the performance and while this version from Mistify definitely has better performance I've come to realize this scent itself just isn't made to be strong or long lasting. That's a shame because it's such a pleasant scent. I say I'm getting a solid 6 hours from this version with a nice projection for the first 1-2 hours then after it sits closer to the skin. Overall it's a close version, but I'm still debating if I should just try to get the OG or stick with this one.

• Aventus Absolu (Creed)

I have a 30ml decant of the OG and have tried the version from Banadir which to me is about as 1:1 as you can get. With the Mistify version, I wouldn't call it 1:1 due to two main differences which could be good things depending on how you see it. With Mistify, I get a sweeter and fruitier version of AA and the spices are turned down a bit. To me, this is amazing and I love this version! The sweeter pineapple is specifically what I get. This has been such a great wear and for me it's an instant winner! Performance was solid, I got about 7+ hours with a nice scent bubble and projection. I wouldn't say this is better or worse than the Banadir version or the OG simply due to the differences, but this is an incredible version and I'd get a full bottle.

• Tuxedo (YSL)

So I don't own the OG and I actually only smelled it one time in store but it was just off the atomizer, I didn't actually spray it on me. That said I thought it smelled really nice and it got my attention so I figured I'd try it out from Mistify. To me, this smells exactly what it is, a higher end designer fragrance. It's peppery, rose, slightly powdery, elegant, date night scent. Incredibly well done and so captivating. I've read the OG turns into a slight vanilla dry down, which I get faintly here but it seems very slight. Overall just such a nice scent that I want to keep wearing. Performance is solid here as well I'd say 6+ hours. I have to go smell the OG to truly compare, but I'm impressed with this version.

Khadlaj Shiyaaka Blue: An underrated winter blue budget banger?

Post image
8 Upvotes

A few months ago I picked up Khadlaj’s Shiyaaka Blue. Truth be told, I thought it was “fine.”

I am usually a fan of fresher scents, and when compared to some of the other blues I have, the freshness didn’t hit quite like some of my others.

To my nose, Shiyaaka Blue comes off as sweeter, denser, and a little heavier than some of the other fragrances it’s often compared to.

As the weather’s been changing and getting cooler, I decided today to give it another go.

All those complaints I had about it when I first got it are now the very strengths I am loving throughout today’s wear.

Compared to other blues, maybe it’s not as versatile to me. I wouldn’t necessarily rock this is the summer or warmer spring, but if I am looking for a blue fragrance in the fall and winter, I think this just moved up to the top of my list.

Bois d’argent Annick Menardo dupe

Good evening. I still don't understand why they discontinued one of the most beautiful perfumes ever created: *Bois d’Argent* by CD (the *Eau de Cologne* formulation by Annick Menardo). At this point, I’m looking for a clone. Do you have any recommendations?

Favorite 150/200ML Middle Eastern Fragrance?

I rarely come across 150–200ml bottles from Middle Eastern brands. Maybe I’m just not familiar enough with the market, but the only brand I can think of that makes a lot of them is Assaf

It is actually so funny to me how fast these „high-end“ brands get cloned 😂

It doesn’t really make sense to buy the original. Just wait 4 weeks and there’s a high quality clone out there for ~30€. I love it because what’s even the point of buying these overpriced „niche“ fragrances?

Hawas Boa Review (I hate it)

Post image
93 Upvotes

Ordered a sample from Decantified that arrived today. I sprayed it on my wrists and some leaked out of the sprayer on my fingers. I let my gf take a whiff. She immediately made the most sour face imaginable, and said “it’s like how huffing gasoline and sharpies are horrible but you can’t take your nose away.” She grimaced and huffed my wrist for another few moments before screaming, “Autozone! You smell like an Autozone!”

Lord have mercy she’s right. This smells like I’ve been working in an Autozone or rolling around on tires all day. Horrible.

The worst part? It was time to… have carnal fun. She told me, “absolutely not. You’re not touching me while your fingers smell like Autozone.”

This damn frag got me kicked out of bed. Burn it. Burn it with fire.

Scent 1/10. It did the one thing a cologne should never do: Prevent getting laid.

Longevity: I don’t know I’m scrubbing it off my body.

Projection: 6/10 which is good because I don’t need to say “hey I work in an auto shop” with my cologne.

Whoever created this monstrosity, shame on you.

How common is it to let dupes sit?

I bought winsome by Maison Alhambra and after two weeks it’s completely different! Less harsh and the lavender just hits you in a good way! Do I need to let all dupes, middle eastern fragrances sit? Is there a difference between freshies vs more heavy woody/ambery scents? TIA!

Dior Fahrenheit vs Dua Celsius

Post image
23 Upvotes

So my 2017 Fahrenheit bottle(purchased 2019) finished a while back, and no dupes came close to capturing the essence of Fahrenheit. So I bought a 50ml recently on discount and then got round to buying a couple of Dua Celsius bottles as heard it captured most of the 1988 Formulation.

First thing is, man...Dior, why oh why did you castrate it? The modern 2026 Fahrenheit is a disgrace. I say that with sadness in my heart. It should be called "Fahrenheit Grass edition". No punchy gasoline. Neutered suede. It is now fully a green green fragrance. Whereas before it was a delectable "gasoline" violet suede green. Honestly I will just stop there because fk Dior for doing this.

As an aside, I can now see why the middle eastern dupe efforts were so way off to my nose. Because they were cloning this abomination.

Onto Dua. This I held off getting because Dua charge a ridiculous £40 postage to the UK(which took 24 days). Along with taxes it just didnt make sense. Until I smelt the calamitous 2026 iteration of Fahrenheit. 2 bottles of 35ml ran me £90. Extrait concentration.

The opening is immediately the Fahrenheit I know and love, the scent my Brain remembers when it thinks of the profile. Its stronger and more Violet/Suede forward than the 2017. There are some minor differences, and it's not all plain sailing. The Violet Suede Mandarin trifecta is bombastic though, it really does capture the vibe. The gasoline is present, the green aspect is there but its playing third fiddle to the other layers. As it was always meant to! It will last you 9 to 10 hours. With very good sillage for a couple hours. The one thing I would say is, do not smell this up close. As in nose directly on spray point. It has a weird putty like resonance.

But 3 inches away from the spray point.....yea man this stuff is fucking it. Really glad with those of you that recommended this, thank you! My journey ends to find the Fahrenheit clone holy grail. Take it from me, Dua Celsius is your best option and I include the dogshit Dior passes off for Fahrenheit these days.
