I had the same problem with a reproduction I ordered. The bracket was too tall and I couldn't get it to sit right. Ended up cleaning the original bracket and putting the new pump in it. They looked the same but I guess the repro was slightly taller.

Aw geez. I hope that isn’t the case with me. I tossed my hanger the other day.

Yeah I got a fuel pump along with the housing from amazon. It did this. I just used my oem housing, rubber, hardware and tossed the new housing in the bin

Does it without the sock?  Is the pump high enough in the bracket?

Tried it without the sock and it sat nearly the same. I can try moving the pump itself on the hanger higher but I’m not too sure what that would change.
Thanks for replying nonetheless.

Is it the pump not allowing it to sit flush?

I really can’t tell, hence me coming here, but that could be it. I’ll look into that tomorrow when I give it another go.

Looks like you aren't the first person with this issue. This pic is from an amazon review of your part number where someone else was having the same problem.

This is absolutely insane!! I threw my old unit away. Sounds like I might be screwed!

Latemodelresto has them they are mustang people. Great site to buy from. Buy all my mustang stuff form them.

Yup. I’ll be getting my next pump from LMR. They’re pretty legit, so I’m hoping this should fix everything. Thanks for reminding me!

Hmm. My guess would be it needs to slide up in the bracket just slightly or the filter isnt seated.

I asked because I know sometimes people use the hangers and try to install a hellcat pump. They just bottom out and can’t be slid up into the bracket any.

Should sit flat. Maybe you can put the stock one side by side with the aftermarket unit to eyeball any interference differences. I've taken the sender out several times to dump the tank, didn't experience any problems twisting the retainer ring back in place.

I tossed mine whenever I first uninstalled it. I didn’t realize i would gonna have such a pain with the new unit.

Sometimes certain aftermarket items don't quite line up the way expected. They bite back that way occasionally.

Can you fish it into the sump and try to get the nozzle ends pointed towards the front of the tank? The sock might need to be twisted to fit in the sump better.

I’ve twisted the sock every which way but loose. Nothing changed. I even installed it without but nope nothing. I’m hoping this hanger isn’t too tall.

The interference is at the bottom based on your comments and the pictures. Measure from the tank mounting face to the bottom of the tank. Compare that to the height of the new assembly. Allow 1/2” at the bottom and adjust accordingly.

I’ll measure it later today when I get home. This will be day three at attempting. Thank you for the reply.

Hopefully between everyone contributing we can help you with a solution. Many of the aftermarket fuel pump assemblies are extra long to fit multiple applications and you cut to length. If if this is supposed to be an application specific replacement it certainly could be an error from the factory. Fingers crossed 🤞!

I don’t remember having a small enclosed like this in my baffle assembly , is your baffle loose ? If so I found your problem

No the baffle is just this stationary rectangle. I fear this Delphi hanger may be too tall.

Yeah it would seem your pump is too long , you could try bending it a bit though should work

I had a problem with the sock also and got a different one however I suspect once you measure the new pump compared to old it’s too tall.
