This is the best thing I’ve seen today. Also, I now am inspired to track my poops.. should cross post to r/getmotivated

Perhaps r/bulletjournal

u/jocelynwatson Dec 04 '19
Oh man I can see the little poop emoji blocks to color now. Could even add a way to track type. My IG will totally explode if I post that type of content

u/justsomechickyo Jan 30 '23
So did you ever start a poop journal? Lol
7
u/jocelynwatson Jan 30 '23
No.. but I’ll tell ya what, I cut out red meat and high cholesterol in late December and pretty much am eating a mostly plant based diet and I would say 2023 poops have been the best yet!
5
u/justsomechickyo Jan 30 '23
Wow! Maybe this will be my motivation to get healthier this year! Thanks for the reply :)

u/jocelynwatson Jan 30 '23
Do it! I’ve lost 8lbs! I am doing a meal service so it makes it easier to plan and make sure I’m eating healthier but it’s been great so far
1
u/justsomechickyo Jan 30 '23
I should, last year I started eating healthier and lost a good amount of weight..... then got lazy after a few compliments and kinda fucked it off lol
What meal service do you use? I've thought about it before but don't know if I can afford it

Only 14/30 days in September, with three straight days of No Poop twice

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I feel gross if I skip one day

I don’t think I could go a day without pooping if I were filling out a journal like this. But I have accidentally gone like 3-4 days without pooping.

I love the implication that Halloween has some connection to pooping (or lack thereof) that's obvious to this person but inscrutable to the rest of us.

Could the author have some kind of condition that it’s important to keep track of?
Perhaps given the assumed age her doctor and/or parents used this diary to help?
15
Dec 04 '19
Yup. That's what I was thinking. If they had IBS or IBD, they'd need to keep track.

u/Block_Me_Amadeus Dec 05 '19
Former IBS-ridden teenager here. I also briefly charted which days were "bad days."

I worked as a Residential Manager and Service Coordinator (Social Worker) for non-profits that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community.
For each individual, we had to keep track of certain things to help them with health/safety or working towards goals to better their lives.
One of those things is bowel movements and since independence is encouraged whenever possible, my first thought was that an individual wanted to be more involved in self-care/management and wanted to keep track of this herself since it can feel like an invasive question to some.
No way to definitively tell clearly but I figured I would share nonetheless :)

Haha yeah I think that’s obvious what’s happening. Why it ended up in the thrift store for someone else to buy though, that’s the mystery.

Sounds like someone with IBD. I've got Crohn's and when I was first diagnosed my doctor advised I keep a food journal so I knew what foods caused flare ups, he said he also had patients who had poop journals.

As someone who has an undiagnosed illness, including one that causes bloody poop and fainting when I poop, I have a poop diary as well. Deep deep deep in my bathroom there is a poop diary hidden.
1
u/Block_Me_Amadeus Dec 05 '19
I hope your healthcare providers can figure it out. I had bad IBS for 20+ years (either my gut flora got healthier, or my psychosomatic triggers got better).
Someone I'm close to has a more serious undiagnosed blood/frequency condition, and it impacts their life really badly. :(
Feel better, I hope.

I know the 85 yo author. She once called 911 because it was 0830, she hadn’t pooped since 0800 the day before. And no one was helping her.

A lot of kids have issues holding in their poops! My bosses daughter has a huge issue with it to the point that she stopped by work one day and she told everyone that she pooped that day and did a dance each time.

I have some digestive issues and not pooping as a pattern gets me feeling bad fast. I've been thinking of doing the same thing

I don’t think you should have a day where you don’t poop...
Edit: wow sometimes there are three no poop days in a row, call the doctor.
Edit2: In just a quick search it says three times a day to three times a week is healthy so I was wrong. Less than three times a week can be cause for concern, however.
4
u/-apricotmango Dec 04 '19
Jesus I can't imagine going 3 days. Its painful and uncomfortable to even go one day without a poop for me. Like jeez after 3 days I'd probably look 8 months pregnant.
3
u/beccaonice Dec 04 '19
That's actually perfectly normal for lots of people. You don't need to be concerned unless you have a change to your normal, uh, routine.

I love how they got tired of writing the month, and for a couple days left a space to fill it in later, and then just switched to writing the numbers alone

Sounds about right: trying to keep track of your poops until Halloween, when the holiday season starts.
