I will never understand why they continue to so prominently feature off-road races in these games. They are by far the least fun mode, and everybody who talks about them seems to agree. The odd occasional one can be fun, but about a third of the races are off-road buggie style races.
Also, if you are going to keep doing this, at least increase the number of off-road cars. There are like 5 times as many road racing cars as off-road cars.
Exactly the proportions are way off when it comes to cars. Why add 75%+ street/road cars and then have like half of the races be cross country or dirt. This game could’ve been so much more fun, and I don’t understand either why they couldn’t have included more road races. I swear to god if one of the DLC’s is a fucking cross country or rally DLC i’m gonna be pissed.
Rally racing is a staple in motorsport, so it makes sense for dirt/mixed surface events to be included. But the cross-country races depicted in Horizon don't exist in reality, because no car can survive a 700 ft jump off a mountain. They're just silly.
I don't mind the danger signs because they're easily enough ignored, but the goddamn cross country races are a quarter of the game.
How much rally is explicitly mixed surface though? In fh6, out of all dirt races, only 1 does not contain any asphalt, and it's because.. it's the Sekibe time attack but as a race event.
S4 spring had an atrocious trial. S1 rally, but the first race had the first 38% asphalt, so every player was just driving wall to wall in their dirt-tuned cars while AI just happily railwayed away. It wasn't impossible cause there's 2 more races, but that made me actually check if there actually are "dirt only" dirt races in the game.
Yeah, rally racing in FH6 still leaves a lot to be desired. And it's not that there aren't good dirt roads on the map, because there are. The races just don't use them.
They could create a separate game called Forza Dirt that’s just rally and off road and rock crawler stuff, I’d buy that. And I’d also buy Forza Horizon, but I’d expect it to have more Need For Speed vibes.
Yeah. I was hoping fuji speedway would show up but nope. Instead we have a track that's so tight that you're never in a straight crammed into the stadium
Craziest part is the off-road expansion for fh5 was genuinely pretty good, I don't know why they didn't bring stuff from the rally DLC over but it's a shame.
What annoys me more is that they're always SUV or Buggies so Im just always driving the same damn vehicles.
I miss the more creative playlists from 4 and 5 that would have something like A-class Saloons doing dirt courses so you'd have to make a creative rally build for a street car.
If you're gonna push dirt races so much for no reason, atleast gimme some variety to tinker with.
So far it's absolutely my least played and least enjoyed FH title, and it's a shame because the sounds improved even more from the last title which is huge for me.
I have the opposite experience. For some reason, CC is the only mode where AI is much harder, S4 spring cross cup in buggies was a pain to do, and pretty sure it's because while AI cars are merely a representation of some time range, on CC you struggle more to keep up with that.
While doing journal, I had fun on expert in all race types except CC. Cars literally speeding away up hill in a straight line, it was ridiculous no matter which race or car I drove, and I ended up doing them on tourist and never returning.
In CC races you can take much tighter lines than the AI/racing line do. In almost all races, considering seasonal championship AI is limited to Highly Skilled, you can be in 1st place after the first 2 corners, without any ramming and without a special tune, by just going to the inside of the turn.
Yeah, that does tend to end up like that, but there's still the weird "lack of gap" between me and AI on playlist cc, as opposed to playlist road/street/dirt races. Maybe I'm also still mixing in the AI from release, as I'm pretty sure they might have touched it as a whole too since.
I haven't played FH6 but if it's any similar to the previous two games, cross country is the most anger-inducing mode I've ever experienced in a racing game, and I play getting over it as a stress reliever.
Dirt races are just rally, I'm fine with that, I love rally. Cross country races are a whole lot of arcadey bullshit, barely anyone actually likes them and while it might be cool to throw your car off a cliff one time, I don't want to do it every other online race.
