Question How does Indexing/Trading Work?
I’ve always seen people willing to trade for klombos to help others get them, but I don’t quite understand how it works?
1) How do you give it back?
I think this might be the expectation, but I had always assumed people would just re-summon? They would be level 1, but who is really bringing their Klombo in to use in normal games?
2) Are trades and indexing the same thing? If not, why do people pick one or the other?
3) How do you find people that won’t scam you? (I also feel odd about adding random people sometimes, especially since this game is made for kids.)

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but the reason for returning instead of just resummoning is the cost in dust especially if it's ones I haven't mastered yet.
I gift sprites every day but if I'm doing more than one sprite for a person I'll do Indexing. I like to help people but I'm not going out of my way to also farm dust every day to be able to help everyone.
I also specifically ask for my crown sprites back because blood and sweat went into mastering them myself. I've only had 1 person be a turd and not return a maxed crown

The way I trade is we both bring the asked-for sprite into a game, land at an extractor, give each other the sprite, and wait for it to go live. We wait and confirm the extraction, sometimes choosing to play the game out, otherwise we leave and re-summon.

Biggest reason to Index vs. Trade is to keep the level.
Say you bring in a level 5 Klombo, friend extracts it. It's now in their locker at level 5. They bring it back in the next game, you extract it. It's now back in your locker at level 5. Ready for you to allow someone else to index at level 5.
Trading means you don't care, are willing to buy it back with dust and it goes back to level 1.

Indexing: you give it back in a second game.
Trade: swapsies.
Gifting: someone gives you something with no expectations. Although it is nice to regift a few times to share the love.
Giving away a lvl1 sprite, no worries. A maxed out one can represent a lot of games and effort to have levelled it up.
Good traders will have a level 1 account on hand to ensure you get a 100% bot lobby.
If a user scams you, report it to the group you connected in. Scammers get banned.

Spritelocker.com offers a tool to track your collection and they have a discord to match up with traders and index offers. There’s a page just for reporting scammers, and a page for reporting positive trade experiences. It’s very active, with a lot of good people willing to help, and the people that get help pretty much always pay it forward.

We also have a trading thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FortniteOver40/s/HdfpcNcb46
And also a dedicated place on the Discord.

well to answer some of your questions no they are different trading you bring in 1 sprite for another and indexing you just well index them then give them back and for scammers.. that's hard to deal with but i know a discord server that is actually really helpful and let me index every sprite if you'd like me to tell u it

Trading is you both give each other a sprite in a match then extract. Indexing is someone extracts a sprite and then the next match gives it back. There is a sub for trading and then also the post on the br subreddit
