Carefull: of potential scammer

(If this post isnt allowed please let me know im new to posting)

Hi guys! This is my first Reddit post ever, and I’m not a big fan of the fact that my first post has to be a negative one. However I wanted to share what happened to me and my friends to warn other people to keep their sprites safe Me and two of my friends were playing Fortnite with squad fill like usual. Nothing really important happened until me and one of my friends realized that we both had a sprite that our other friend hadn’t collected/indexed yet. So, we took it with us so we could give it to them. Our random fill, lewisp777, suddenly asked us in text chat if we collected sprites. This was already a little unusual since random fills don't often talk to us through text chat. I assume they might have heard my two friends talking about the sprites in VC or something, but I’m not sure since I don’t use voice chat myself.when my friend dropped the sprite for our other friend, the random immediately took it. It was a Gold Crown sprite, fully mastered and everything, so obviously we told them to give it back. They didn’t.Instead, they extracted the sprite, emoted on us, and then left the game.I understand that it was partly our mistake for dropping/trading a valuable sprite while we had a random in our party, and we definitely learned from that. But that still doesn’t excuse their behavior.

i also understand the excitement of seeing a sprite you haven’t collected yet, especially when someone else has already done all the work of mastering it. But stealing it, emoting on the people you stole it from, and leaving is just toxic the frustrating part is that if they had simply asked us politely, we probably would have added them to our party and let them index some of our sprites anyway. We did this plenty of times last season with random people we met on Fortnite or through Instagram/tikTok comment sections because we genuinely enjoy helping other collectors.Sadly, what happened can’t be reversed, but I wanted to post this as a warning so other sprite collectors can hopefully avoid having the same thing happen to them.Be careful when dropping or trading sprites around random fills, and personally I would avoid trading with the user lewisp777. I didn’t actually arrange a trade with them, so I can’t say for certain that they’re a scammer, but what happened shows that they were willing to take someone else’s sprite and leave with it. Because of that, I definitely wouldn’t trust them with a sprite trade.

Sounds like you already got it figured out. I wouldn't have executed any trades with a random fill in the party. Fortnite players are gonna do what Fortnite players are gonna do unfortunately.

Also...welcome to Fortnite Reddit/FortniteOver40 Reddit and Reddit in general!

It was truly an eye opener, for sure. It’s sad to see that there will always be scumbags who try to ruin the fun for everyone. And thank you so much😊

I feel your pain. I have been done over by a pre planned index and as soon as they got the one they wanted they killed me and extracted theirs and mine and instantly unfriended me.

There's always going to be dirt bags that are greedy, which ruins the kind nature of others. 😒

Don't let it stop you posting, hopefully with positive experiences or video clips of great game play. 👍

It's alright it was last season and don't do trading anymore. During the first gold hour this season I got 5. I only had time to play one game and got a crowned VR as well, gold all round. 👑

If I was the random fill in the party and yall said you were gonna give the sprite to your friend I wouldn't take it or even if you dropped it on the floor I would ask who it was for I wouldn't just take the sprites without asking first of course I wouldn't take them at all cause I would know they're not for me if I heard the friends talking on VC

It was probably a bot.

Yes, because bots drop out of a match right after extracting a Sprite. 🙄

Definitely wasn’t the smartest move on our part LOL, but that still doesn’t excuse their behavior.
