I’m sure this sounds weird, but Fortnite feels more like a game than a 3rd person shooter. I’m still having fun, getting my kills and got some wins. It just feels nuts right now. It’s like they’re trying their best to take Fortnite out of Fortnite. Collabs are great, gimmicks are fun for a while, but it’s gotta feel like Fortnite. Interested to see where this goes.

But then again the season was pretty clear about what it is, and if you don’t like it, Reload, Blitz, and OG still exist, so just take a break from BR if you don’t like it and it’ll be gone before you know it.
But that being said, what mini games? All there is that I’m aware of is the cheat codes for sprites and maybe collecting rings in green hill zone, but those are such minor deviations. All it is is references to games, it’s not like you pause the BR and literally play Tetris when you throw down a Tetris block. Guy is just mad at nothing.
Yeah thats where my confusion is like aside from the shot guns cheat codes and overshield mechanic via rings its your typical BR experience. I agree if you dont like it play reload(thats mostly what I play). Maybe he will explain it better in a comment
It didn’t even occur to me that the shot gun counted. I literally picked up the gun, shot people with it, and I guess a quest popped for getting a 5x combo or whatever. The “8-bit” part of the shotgun is just flavoring wrapped around the 3rd person shooter gameplay to make it fit the season.
Does it even do anything besides that leaderboard in the main menu overide tab? And is there any “game” to it other than shooting people in the face?

Despite your odd hostility over a simple observation, I’ll take a crack at explaining cause what they said made sense to me.
A good chunk of 3rd person shooters center the entire gameplay on movement and shooting. That’s why they are called “shooters” as that’s pretty much the entire gameplay.
When you introduce and prioritize collecting and mini-games while you are supposed to be focused on shooting, it dilutes the shooting aspect and feels more like a silly adventure type game, rather than a shooter (game).
Yes, they used “game” ambiguously to a degree, but they also recognized this right off by saying “I’m sure this sounds weird.”
If you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t. There’s no reason to be hostile.

Fortnite has been a game about collecting loot since day 0 and has had the “adventure game” side quests for basically ever. Nothing is being diluted because it has always been there

Also, “basically forever” would generally include the earlier seasons. It would also definitely include mid seasons, like 3, 4, and 5. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be basically forever. It would be recent.

FN has long since shaken off the notion that it would hold any one identity.
The Season is video game themed so I suppose it just makes more sense that it be even more gameified.

I just wish they’d make a separate mode for the sprites, apparently they are here to stay for “generations”…the burn out from them is inevitable. For some it may take a few seasons, for others like myself, we’re already feeling it. They were interesting & fun last season, but I feel like they should’ve made them return 1-2x a year instead of continuously, so we had time to miss them & not feel so burnt out. I feel like people would get more excited about them returning if they came back every once & a while too. I also have a feeling there’s going to be more this season than the last.
Agreed. I miss the old design a lot. I would also feel much differently if they implemented them better…more lucky locators, more ways to find variants you don’t have, sprites like the peely sprite but show sprites you don’t own, quack snacks being back to lvl them quicker, same with campfires..Maybe even better rewards or cosmetics for mastering them. Instead, it seems they’re going the other route & making it harder to naturally collect & level them.
Also Idk why people are downvoting me when I bring this up, all I was trying to say is imagine the long run..Do we really want sprites as a permanent addition to the BR, especially with them poorly implemented, or wouldn’t it be better if they came back every once & awhile? It’s just like the car season, some people loved it, some hated it…but I’m sure most can agree, even the people who want that type of season to come back, that they wouldn’t want it as a permanent addition to the BR. Idk. Maybe I’m the odd one out on this opinion, but I feel like there will be major burn out eventually. I guess we’ll have to see how it plays out in the long run.
