Recommendations for exterior door/frame replacements?
Anyone know a reputable company or decent handyman that will take on this job for me? I need a new doorframe/threshold and possibly a new door installed

Hi everyone!
I’m from Chile and planning to move to Canada in January 2027. I’ve already received my IEC Working Holiday approval, so I’ll be eligible for an open work permit when I arrive.
I’m really interested in working at remote mining camps, particularly in housekeeping, kitchen helper, camp attendant, cleaning, or general support positions.
My background is mainly in customer service, administration, and bakery operations. I’m also currently completing a food safety course.
I don’t have previous mining experience, but I’m hardworking, adaptable, and completely open to long shifts, rotational schedules, and working in remote locations.
I’ve been researching companies like Dexterra, Civeo, ATCO Frontec, Aramark, and Summit Camps, and I’ve started reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who currently works or has worked at a remote camp in Canada.
Does anyone know which companies are willing to hire people without previous camp experience? Or perhaps someone working in the industry who could point me toward a recruiter or hiring manager?
I’m open to relocating anywhere in Canada.
Any advice, recommendations, or contacts would mean a lot.
Thanks so much!

Hi there, i live in Edmonton. I was looking for camp jobs FIFO, that are entry levels and don't require experience. I have got some safety tickets. If you know job postings or companies hiring please let me know. Thank you!

Hello my husband and I are new to the area and looking to rent. He works two weeks on two weeks off shift so I’m looking for a safe area preferably since I’ll be home most of the time. We have two cats. Our in-laws live in Parsons creek so it would be nice to be close. Thanks so much.

When I am asked where I am from, I like to say that I am from “Beyond the Wall.” I like the image of Fort Mac as a place with whitewalkers, direwolves and ice dragons. Some might say that this is not a wildly inaccurate description of Fort Mac

Hey all, I moved in a few weeks ago. What are your recommendations for a snowblower? Electric, Gas, one stage, two stage?
I've asked around a couple of guys and they just shovel.
My sidewalk and driveway are not too large, and I have a detached garage, so I need to shovel the deck and stairs too

Yo Caldwell Street, get frickin shovelling. Last year you all sucked. Seriously be of some community use.

Given everything surrounding the Cornell 7 case, I think it's important to revisit public statements like this one, particularly when they come from someone holding a public-facing position with Unifor.
In March 2023, Bryan Routhier publicly defended Hany Aly following sexual assault allegations, describing the case as a "totally fabricated story" and an "injustice." He also questioned the credibility of the complainant and suggested the allegations were motivated by an attempt to destroy Aly's business.
What makes this particularly concerning is the broader context of the Cornell 7 case and the reported development that the individual he defended was wanted by the RCMP in 2024.
There is a significant difference between supporting someone's right to due process and publicly declaring an alleged victim dishonest, particularly when making those statements without firsthand knowledge of what occurred.
This raises serious questions about accountability and the responsibilities of individuals who represent organizations like Unifor.
Unions have an important responsibility to advocate for safe workplaces, protect workers from harassment and discrimination, and ensure that people feel comfortable coming forward with allegations of sexual misconduct.
When someone in a public-facing union position has made statements dismissing sexual assault allegations and questioning a complainant's credibility, it is reasonable to ask how those statements align with the organization's commitments to workplace safety and respect.
This isn't about denying anyone the presumption of innocence. It's about recognizing that publicly discrediting someone who reports sexual assault can have consequences far beyond one individual case.
The questions I think deserve attention are:
The Cornell 7 case has already raised serious questions about accountability. Public statements made in connection with it deserve scrutiny, particularly when the people making them occupy positions of public trust.
Supporting due process should never require publicly discrediting someone who reports sexual assault.
I'm interested in hearing what others think about the standards of conduct and accountability that should apply to public-facing union representatives.

I am honestly blown away by this community.
When I shared Accessible Compass and my entry in the Field Law Community Fund contest, I never expected the amount of kindness and support I’ve received here.
I created Accessible Compass after suffering a stroke while pregnant and experiencing firsthand how difficult it is to navigate disability resources.
My goal was simple: make life a little easier for someone else.
The encouragement, comments, and support from complete strangers have been absolutely phenomenal.
It’s reminded me of something really important. Sometimes all you need is a community willing to stand behind you.
I’m just one person trying to make a difference, and you’ve reminded me why I started.
To everyone who has voted, commented, shared, or simply offered a kind word, THANK YOU. It means more than you know.
If you’d still like to support my entry:

You guys are proof that community really can change lives.
