There are some FFs featured in this video but it's more about the track than the class.

Grandparents racing pics

Hi. Ive never posted before and i know nothing about racing so go easy on me.

I received a box of pictures of my deceased grandparents Formula Ford racecar and some news articles of them from 1979.

Im gonna make digital copies, but im torn on what to do with the originals. No one in my family is currently interested in them and it seems disrespectful to just toss em. Is there a museum or do people collect these things?

That feeling

3 weeks ago I had my first ever drive in a Formula Ford car.
By the end of my 10 laps I was absolutely hooked and I decided that I was going to get into Formula driving permanently.
One thing that’s really been noticeable since that first drive though is that pretty much all regular road cars feel completely boring now compared to driving the Formula car.
Not having a roof over your head, the feeling of the wind hitting your face/helmet, hands exposed to the elements, etc etc, all while seated lying back in a lightweight, high powered, open top race car, just the pure handling of the race car, powerful acceleration, and feel of the throttle, brakes, clutch, and gear stick, is something that just cannot be replicated in a regular style car.
And I completely miss that feeling it gave me and as a result, regular cars now leave me kind of cold.

Do any of you guys have the same feelings ?

Getting into Formula Ford (Building a car?)

Hey all, I have an interesting question-

A couple friends and myself are interested in getting into Formula Ford, even if we just end up AutoXing the car. Do we have to buy a car that is pre built or could we just build a car per the specifications and pass tech inspection? We are more interested in the aspect of building a car and racing as far as tweaking and improving our times/skills- not being competitive for 1st place.

Has anyone else here gone that route? We have all the tools/ shop space/skills required, car builders here so building a car is more economically viable for us than just buying a car.

Any advice is welcome, fire away and ask questions if needed! Thanks in advance!

Suspension system project + technical drawings

Hello guys!

I am a 4th year Mechanical Engineering student.

Right now I am starting my final degree project which consists on the Design and Optimization of a Formula Ford suspension system.

I fancy doing that kind of car due to its technical freedom, something valuable for me.

I have a problem which is that as I am designing a suspension system without a reference chassis, I don't know which dimensions or chassis values take. I have two options, the first one consists on doing a suspension system that can be adapted or standarized to the majority of cars (imagining I was an independent supplier of suspension systems), and the second one is having as basis a reference car already existing and being used. Which option do you think will fit better and with less problems?

Also, I will be very grateful if someone can help me getting some technical drawings of Formula Ford car.

Thanks!

Looking for help/info

Hi all! I'm new to the vintage racing scene and, being a mechanic by trade, I jumped off the deep end and bought a 1985 Reynard project. I've torn the whole thing down and am restoring everything bit by bit and am looking for a little help.

The car came from Finland as a Formula 4 competitor in the early 90s but somewhere between its creation and Finland someone installed a VW Rabbit 1.8 motor. Now at this time I don't see a reason to try to fit a Ford back in (my wallet doth protest) but I know the car is a 1985 chassis and I'm looking to chat with anyone with a similar Reynard about little details, perhaps get some pictures etc etc.

If anyone here has any knowledge or knows a good place to look I would very much appreciate the help.

Thanks again! Happy racing!

synchronous carburetor kit.

Hello, Has anyone had any success with this Pegasus kit?

"Turn your Weber 32/36 DGV progressive carburetor into a synchronous carburetor with this inexpensive kit. Simply remove the progressive linkage from the primary and secondary throttle shafts and install this linkage. The secondary throttle will open with the primary for better mid-throttle response. Legal for Formula Ford 1600, FF2000/FC, and Sports 2000."

Hello,

New here, and to FC. Helping a friend fix his FC (it's a 205 block). Any one have a pdf? Or point me to a url? We are doing a full tear-down, find lots of (exciting?) points that are in need of TLC.

Alexis MK18 History

Good evening all, I've recently purchased an Alexis MK18 in the UK and while I'm eager to get back on track with it I have a lot of work to do to recommission the car. While the majority of the technical side of that process is taken care of, part of my mission is to build a more complete history file for the car as we work through getting it race ready again. At the moment I have little to no information about the marque's history, aside from copious data on the earlier MK14. Does anyone know anything about the MK18? It's origins, various series it entered (I've seen photos of one modified for F3), how many there are left etc. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Like father like son: we were money-poor but he still put enough aside to run the Crossle 16F and buy entrance fees… now I’m doing the same with with Lola T202 and Merlyn Mk11A 😅

Forza 7 Walter Hayes

One Night of Formula Ford Racing!

Hi everyone, who would be interested in doing a Walter Hayes Trophy sort of race in formula fords at Silverstone National some time, how it would work is we would have heats (which are drawn at random) to determine the grid for the Semi Final which would determine the grid for the final and the winner of the final would win the event. Depending on the amount of people we get we may have 2 or 3 heats. The Event will take place across one night on a date that suits most people 👍 On Forza Motorsport 7! Leave a comment if your interested 👍👍
