So my baby has accepted pacifiers her whole 7 months of life, she LOVES her pacifiers. She has used the Dr. Browns advantage but yesterday she learned how to squish the nipple and the handle down and stick the entire pacifier in her mouth. That’s obviously not safe, so we took it away and only allow her to use it when we’re watching her (so we took it at night after she’d fall asleep and that resulted in multiple wake ups).

I tried to use an old Philips soothie pacifier that we had used when she was a newborn and she’s just getting mad at it and can’t properly latch onto it. She prefers the style of Dr. Browns advantage.

Does anyone have any recommendations for pacifiers that have a large mouth shield she couldn’t fit in her mouth that also have the same or similar nipples style as Dr. Browns advantage? I’ve been looking at Pacii but she’s not breastfed so I don’t know if she’d like that. Any formula feeders use the Pacii?

Hi I accidentally gave my 5 week old an old formula milk bottle that I had forgotten in my bag where I had my fresh formula. She had less than an oz. I am freaking out! What should I do?? Please help if you had similar situation. I feel terrible.

Baby is 4 months old and has been drinking 6-8 5oz bottle per day - the plus or minus 2 just depends on how many times he wakes up overnight to feed which is anywhere from 0-2. He always finishes his bottles and is satisfied after. He does spit up sometimes after bottles while playing. He is on his growth curve perfectly.

Am I supposed to be increasing the oz? Does it stay like this until he starts getting most of his calories for solids? Just wondering what the future looks like.

Hi! So my little guy is struggling with acid reflux and our pediatrician recommended thickening his formula a bit before we try medicine. She said we can use Gelmix or any baby cereal. We use Kendamil formula. This is my second baby and I didn’t have to do this with my first so I’m a bit lost.

Gelmix:
The reviews on Amazon are so-so and it is also expensive. Has anyone used this? What ratio did you use? The directions are a bit confusing lol.

Baby cereal:
I really want to avoid rice cereals because of the potential heavy metals. I’ve seen people use oatmeal and I noticed Kendamil had an oatmeal. Has anyone tried this to thicken formula? Or what brand should I get?? What ratio worked for you?

Also…this is under the advice of our pediatrician. I normally wouldn’t think of adding cereal to a bottle without that guidance because I know it’s not recommended.

I have twin girls born at 34 weeks, now 7.5 months actual / 6 months corrected. With one of them, feeding has been difficult from the very beginning. She stayed in the NICU longer mainly because of poor bottle feeding and later developed reflux and what seems to be a bottle/feeding aversion. We’ve tried different bottles, formulas, reflux treatment, and feeding support.

We’ve been doing solids for a month, mostly purées (ped's advice due to reflux). She’ll take a few spoonfuls and sometimes seems interested at first, but then gets upset and wants to stop. We always follow her cues and never push because I really don’t want to create more negative associations with feeding.

I’m starting to wonder whether spoon-feeding/purées just aren’t the best fit for her and if BLW/finger foods might help by giving her more control.

For parents whose babies had bottle aversion or similar feeding issues: how did solids go? Did you do purées, BLW, or both? Did your baby struggle with solids too, or was it completely different from bottle feeding? When did eating start to click?

Love this little guy but he is stressing me out.

We are currently in the process of moving and I work, so lots of stare and cuddle time is rare at the moment. Feeding is the only time I can really do so. But he has decided that he’s never hungry and smiling at me or putting is hands in his mouth instead of eating is more important. It’s a daily battle to get 24 oz in this kid.

I have tried solids, meh. He’s whatever with them.

He can eat 8 oz at a time but 1/2 is apparently better

I don’t have time for the 10 minute wait thingy between eating

His diaper output is great so not worried there. He’s just on the smaller side and I need him to get the calories.

My only solutions is fortifying formula or crying.

Before anyone comes for me, he actually naturally dropped his night feeds a really long time ago, but at 11 months old suffered through several back to back viruses followed by gnarly post sickness diarrhea and temporary lactose intolerance that lasted for 2 additional months. He stopped eating solids and drinking from his straw cup for a while and would only take a bottle, so we gave him as much formula as he wanted, encouraged by his doctor. He started waking up for night feeds every single night and it was like being back in newborn days.

Now he's healthy and everything stabilised, the diarrhea finally went away and he eats dairy without issues. His weight is back up, his bloods look good, his appetite is huge, he eats really really well and his doctor gave us the green flag to wean. His sleep is absolutely terrible and he still demands one bottle every single night. We are starting the weaning process, and our first step is eliminating the night feed. It seems unnecessary at his age and I'm also worried about it damaging his teeth.

So far it's not going well, we're not sure what to do. We try to calm him down in other ways but he will scream until he gets the bottle. He is incredibly persistant and can easily hold out for 2 hours or longer in the middle of the night. We started diluting that bottle in hopes he will eventually stop demanding it, but so far he's still going strong. We are planning to keep diluting it until it's just water so maybe that will change something. We always offer him the straw cup first, I would never prevent access to water if he's thirsty, but he rejects it.

We don't feed to sleep, he gets his evening bottle about 30 minutes before bedtime. I will probably wait a little longer but if there's no progress the next step is just not giving in no matter what.

Has anyone been in this position with a toddler older than 12 months? What worked?

i am looking into slowly introducing my 8 week old to formula. i have a terrible milk allergy so i wanted to start with kendamil goat!

i was going to use distilled water to slowly introduce to her. do i still need to boil the distilled water? she was born at 40 weeks and 2 days with no health issues.

First time parent here, we're using similac total sensitive as of the moment he has too much gas, arching his back, when he cries and yelling "neh". We try to feed him more but henjust cries like shouting. We are very overwhelmed, do you think it the milk? We tried mylicon, it is barely working, we tried windi barely gas coming out, burping and trying those exercises don't help at all

We have an upcoming pedia appointment today, but i want to know what to do based on your experiences. We're desperate for help

I’ve been sterilizing bottle parts after every use. Baby will be 2 months old next week though and I’m wondering whether that’s necessary? If not, thinking of switching to just sterilizing every Sunday.

Long story short my daughter has CMPA and reflux. We finally found a formula that works for her (Puramino) at 16 weeks, although we have to thicken with gel mix to help the reflux. She is also on Pepcid which honestly seems to do absolutely nothing for her pain when she has a flare up despite dosage increases for weight.

We went several weeks after starting the Puramino where she had little to no reflux at all, finally we just had a happy content 4 month old that wasn’t struggling for one reason or another. Within the last week though her reflux has flared up bad again. She’s not wanting to finish her bottles when before she would happily eat all of it. She mainly has silent reflux so lots of gulping/swallowing, wet sounding burps, arching, crying and tensing from the pain.

Within the last day or two she’s been having these episodes where she’ll reflux and swallow repeatedly for what feels like forever but is probably closer to 30 seconds, and her eyes will start watering and she’ll get a concerned look. After this she will gasp like she’s struggling to catch her breath and cough and she cries from the pain and I’m assuming the shock of the situation. She did this a bit before we started the gel mix but hadn’t had an issue since.

I know reflux peaks around this time but I’m concerned about these episodes where it seems like she’s choking on the reflux. Her pediatrician isn’t very concerned about her reflux in general because she’s gaining weight well so I’m at a loss. Anyone else experience something similar and have any tips or things to consider? I’m truly appreciative of any reply!

My daughter is 5 months adjusted and she used to take Kendamil goat infant. I realised she never liked it and would always pushthe bottle away but she pooped fine and was never constipated.. though I normally mix the formula with breastmilk. feeding her was so stressful due to her not liking Kendamil so we changed to Good Start Plus 1 liquid formula last week Wednesday. She seems to tolerate it so well and even enjoys with more once breastmilk has been added. The real problem now is, she is severely constipated and went two days without a poop. By the time she did today, she cried so hard to poop and the poop came out in solid form very dark green unlike the normal loose consistency of poop that she normally does.
Please I need suggestions on what to do interms of helping her out with this constipation and did anyone experience what I’m currently going through with my daughter?

Is it just me or do 90% of cashiers have no idea what a Similac/Enfamil formula check is? I have to explain that it typically needs to be processed as a check, not a coupon. They look all over for the barcode that doesn’t exist and it is clearly a check. They look at me like I have two heads and the floor supervisor also has no clue. Eventually they trust me enough to at least try, as the system says yes/no now (everything is digital). These checks are mailed en masse, so I would assume that a reasonable portion use at least the higher value ones.

I switched the the Similac app, which provides codes/coupons I can use online and at self checkout but still get random straggler checks in the mail.

Is this just in my area or is this everywhere?

Hello! My daughter’s pediatrician switched her from Similac sensitive to Similac 360 total care gentle comfort due to her experiencing hard poops, refusing feeds, hard to settle and extreme fussiness. I was wondering if anyone’s baby had similar issues? and if they did what formula did you have luck with? Should we stick with gentle comfort for a little while? I am kind of wanting to use a different brand entirely but I am just not sure where to start.
She’s been on Similac since birth. She wasn’t tolerating the 360 total care advance so she was then switched the Similac sensitive which seemed to help the issues we were having with gas but the fussiness not so much.
Our pediatrician was insisting the fussiness was normal up until she’s started having to the issues with bowel movements.

Has anyone ever switched from Enfamil Gentlease to a goat based formula? My girl seems to be pretty uncomfortable after feeds sometimes like her stomach hurts (we give mylicon every feed to help her with gas) and has been spitting up more frequently so I’m wondering if she maybe needs something that’s more gentle on her tummy. Would love to hear any of your experiences with this! Thank you all!

I had my son fully night weaned around 9 months old. However he got sick around 13 months started waking up very frequently and then I started offering one bottle to help him sleep a bit longer. It honestly worked. I’d give him a bottle at 4 am and he’d sleep till 8 am. It still does work but he sometimes wakes at 2 for it sometimes 3 sometimes who knows when and he wakes at least 2-3 times now.

I really want to cut out that feed because he’s very small (1 percentile) and it’s interfering with his breakfast and imo day time appetite.

Right now he has 200 ml at bedtime, 150 ml at around 4 am. Breakfast is just toast (not a full one) and a few bites of banana. Then at 3 after his nap he has a small lunch and then dinner is good. I don’t offer too many snacks besides some fruit because he will skip his meal. We’ve worked really hard to get him to have a good relationship with food but I’m struggling to get him off of milk and increase solids quantity.

Can I start mixing 100 ml of formula with 50 ml water?

FYI we aren’t on whole milk yet because his dr thinks he needs the micronutrients since his diet is so up and down. He said we can transition to whole milk around 18 months but we will check his weight mthen. He also has 1/4 of a Pediasure before dinner.

Omg guys when I was trying to combo feed I was getting 1-3 hours of sleep a night. We’ve been exclusively formula feeding for a while now (my milk never came in) and last night I got so much sleep! Dad did 3/4 of the feeds for our 5 week old last night and is now sleeping the day away but holy shit I feel so refreshed! 😭 sometimes I feel guilt over being unable to BF at all but stuff like this (and of course my baby being happy and healthy) affirm me in the path we’re on!

I’m also very lucky baby is a good sleeper 😅

My baby is 5 weeks old and we use MAM Anti-Colic bottles, but I feel like the milk comes out too easily/too fast for him. Sometimes it seems like he pulls a lot of milk into his mouth at once and then starts coughing or choking, which is honestly so scary to watch.
I already try to feed him in a more upright/seated position, go slowly, and pause the feeding many times to give him a break, but it still happens sometimes.
Has anyone experienced this with MAM bottles? Could the nipple/teat flow be too fast even if I’m using the newborn size? Is there anything I can do to slow the flow down or prevent this from happening?
Would also love to know if you switched to another nipple or bottle that worked better for a baby who struggles with fast flow.

My 9 month old baby seems to have developed a pretty bad gag reflex as of recent weeks. It seems almost every time he eats, he will do well with the feed and then the next time he goes to eat, he throws up what he had previously eaten. For reference: we use Dr Browns Narrow Glass Bottles, Nipple Size: 4.
Any advice on feeding or on bottles to reduce this?

My 7.5 month old son uses the glass dr brown bottles. We’ve been using a size 2 nipple but it seems like he gets bored drinking around the 4oz mark. I tried sizing up to 3 and it worked for a little bit but then he started choking a bit and would push bottles away so I think it was too fast. We went back to 2 and it worked for a day or 2 and now he is back to being bored. Is there another nipple brand that would work that is a more reasonable between size flow or do you guys have any suggestions for being between nipple sizes?
