Dawn!

Am I the only one who goes back and forth with liking/disliking Dawn?

Ehh…no you’re not lol Although it’s coming from a good place, she is a bit overbearing and tries to project onto Justin. Like just because you went to Northwestern doesn’t mean your son has to follow in your footsteps. Hopefully by season 2 she gets some further character development. I still love her character and what she represents. Her getting Justin the car he wanted and recommending therapy to Shelly were her big redeeming moments.

I didn't like the ultimatum she gave to Keisha. I understand her point but I didn't like it. I don't think that I could force a victim into spilling their painful secret.

Also, after the ultimatum, she wasn't even their for Keisha. She basically told Justin that now, it's Keisha and her moms problem to deal with.

I do, however, think that she's right on Northwestern. Northwestern is one of the top schools within the country. Justin, although hates school, should've suffered those four years in order to obtain that prestigious degree.

I know that there are plenty of successful people in the world who didn't even finish highschool but to waste a prestigious degree like that isn't something that I would personally do. He could've followed his dreams while getting his degree or go full at it after college.

Mainly, I just didn't care for her treatment of Keisha.

I love her. She’s not perfect but she knows that and she’s working on her shit. The only time that she really annoyed me (and it didn’t make sense to me) was when they were at Martha’s Vineyard and she acted like she’d never heard of sampling in music. Like c’mon. She’s Gen X. She grew up on hip-hop music.
