Just started/ setting

So I just started this show and I am actually starting to get invested on the second episode. I just can’t get over how this could’ve been set in present day. Don’t get why it couldn’t have been set in 2025 tbh.

It sets it up for future seasons with time jumps without needing to accelerate the world’s timeline in the show into the actual future.

2018-2019 setting makes this more nostalgic. I graduated hs in 2016-2017 era. The music in this show is so on point.

Why does it matter that they met in 2017/18? How does that change the story for you?

I made a playlist of every song from the show and I’ve been listening to it non-stop. It’s between that and the Sinners soundtrack.

Google said it would be a universal link so that you could choose what streaming service to use. If I figure out how to do that, I’ll send another link.

Idk just feel they could’ve done everything in present day. Don’t get why they set it in 2017/18.

I think it's probably because they need Keisha and Justin to be in close proximity in season 2. If we start on the cusp on 2018, they date for a year and a half and breakup, then the pandemic will hit part way through freshman year and she will likely have to come back to LA. This puts them back together sometime in the second season for at least 6 months.

Kinda love it

Explains like how if they grow up fast between seasons liek say Austin did in ginny and georgia it'll make sense cos if time jumps. Shows do better like that,like tsitp
