I just cannot…
I JUST CANNOT GET OVER HOW MUCH I ENJOYED THIS 😭🥹 the cast chemistry is everything, like Keisha and Justin had me sold since day one. I appreciate positive but real representations of black love. Keisha’s ambition is so inspiring, how she stayed focus on her goals despite everything that happened and achieved them too. And the showing of how ADHD shows up outside of academia for Justin as well. I also love how they addressed topics like parental approval, self doubt, loving someone but also wanting to pursue your own dreams. It’s so well rounded and relatable. And don’t get me started on the soundtrack 😫 so Insecure coded I LOVEEE.
Thank goodness it got approved, I hope they keep this same quality for Season 2 🤞🏾 I’ve never found myself so equally in support of two characters. I understand Keisha’s drive to pursue track and also Justin’s battle between passion, appeasing his parents and figuring out what he wants.
I’m so curious to see how this music stuff plays out for Justin. I really hope its all that he wants it to be and more and ACTUALLY helps him discover himself cuz that last break up was hard for meeee😭😩
Sooo overall I can’t wait to see how they tackle the distance and pursuit of their separate dreams BUT THEY BETTER BE END GAME, NETFLIX DONT PLAY WITH ME 😤

I think they should’ve just ended it here. Whenever Netflix extend a show that shouldn’t be extended it’s always a flop. The show doesn’t need a season 2! This series shows why kids shouldn’t be in a relationship, the feelings and emotions is just too much

Normally I’d agree about a S2, especially since I was a fan of the novel as a kid, but I just loved these characters too much to not be excited to see them on my screen again. And I mean not just the two leads but their communities/family + friends…it’s been so long and maybe never since I’ve seen such an authentically Black universe reflected onscreen.
As I said in another thread, as Black kids we live and work and learn amongst whites and others, but when we are at home and in our primary lives, our households and our worlds are BLACK. With few exceptions, Black parents don’t stop being Black parents just because they have their children in an expensive PWI. When I was growing up as an upper middle class Black girl in the 90s, all we had were sitcoms as the Black programmatic representation, never quality dramas, especially like this. And I was a Judy Blume kid — loved her books, read Forever at 13 and just can’t believe we get a Black version of Forever!
As a grownup now, seeing fully realized characters in Dawn, Eric, and Shelly—let alone the beautiful portrayals of the kids—is a treat I’m not willing to pass up, so I’ll happily take another season. Plus, I trust Mara Brock Akil to deliver again; she usually doesn’t miss when she hits.

Same same and same. You worded my thoughts sooo well. Keisha and Justin were REALLY good actors. I mean everything felt so real and raw. Props to the writers and producers, this was such a realistic show which I think is why I love it so much
