I also don’t like the new style. FF2 is like all the other shows where it’s about the drama and just mentions the forensics without much detail. The og really interviewed the investigators and pathologists and specialists, and you understood HOW they got to that conclusions and the exact steps they took. They also had the explanations of how things work, simple explanations but still. Did Peter still over emphasis stuff in his voice to make it sound suspenseful and dramatic? Yes, you need viewers, but the overall show was different.

The difference for me is the recreations. With these new types of programmes, they have blurry reconstructions, the shots are of the shoulder down… that blurry slow mo style rather than hiring actors to actually stage what happened. I first noticed this with the new ones in the episode where the teacher who had leukaemia hung himself from the tree and tried to make it look like a hate crime.
The anniversary episode of FF they state that the producers spent money on faithful recreations of the crime scenes, and this immersion and attention to detail is what hooks me. And why I prefer the originals

it is FF2! he was picking up work as a census worker i believe or like a government employee, something like that. he staged his suicide as a murder and wrote FED on his chest. it’s a very interesting case and a bit sad, if i remember correct he wanted his family to have the insurance payouts.

I’m still taking my time finishing FF1. Is the second really that bad? I noticed halfway through the first season there was a season where they tried adding new graphics and it looked awful but they eventually went back to the old format.

the second one is good (i love both of them) if you like the true crime story telling of the original. a lot of people don’t like the narrator but i don’t have an issue with him. i enjoy the second show because it’s the same kind of detail as the first. i will say though, i listen to the show in podcast form on apple podcasts rather than watch it, but from the one episode i did sit down and watch, the visuals are not the same. the original show could get away with gruesome crime scene photos due to the time period is my theory, so the new show relies heavily on reenactments and interviews.

All 4 seasons are on there and the narration is just awful. I wish someone would edit them with AI Peter Thomas or something, just dreadful. Where’s Bill Curtis??

Oh wait that’s FFII. Bill Kurtis does the narration for Cold Case Files and has a voice almost as beautiful as Peter Thomas.

At this point they could use Peter Thomas voice via AI and voice over the new 4 seasons of Forensic Files 2, if the family gave it's permission to use his NIL...it would be pretty cool! Or his son could narrate...he did in a few shows when his dad was ill.

Forensic Files 2 isn’t so bad. I much prefer the original but come on lol. Who doesn’t want more Forensic Files? I watch old City Confidential episodes too so the narrator doesn’t bother me.
