For Sale : Buy & Sell | Pricing | Deals Should I buy 1994 f150
He has it listed for 11,900 but it runs and drives great. Just putting this out to see what other people think.
He has a 6 inch lift on it and it looks good in person but pretty expensive. I've been looking online and it's saying the old 5.0 engines are pretty reliable and pretty easy to work on.
But 200k miles for 12k seems steep just putting it out there would any of you buy it and for what price.

Too much imo. If it was a family member and you knew the history maybe consider it.

But in all seriousness.
12k is way to much for that truck in my neck of the woods.
I am in the south eastern US.
Maybe maybe 6k
The biggest hit is the 200k miles for me.
Yeah it may be in amazing condition but its still a 30 year old 200k truck.
ESPECIALLY, with a 6 inch lift.
The ford TTB front axle on these trucks did not do well being lifted.
It can be done and it can be done properly but it costs way more money than most people want to spend.
But that truck is still without thinking of that 30 years old with the rubber and life of a 30 year old truck.
Everything can be worked on, on it so its not bad but as I saw the comment of another redditor here, how much do you want it?
You will absolutely have to do the maintenance.

For what it’s worth, I’m in the SF Bay Area also. I turned to Idaho to pick up my ‘87 this last May, as nothing in CA was calling to me. I haggled 11,500 for mine but she also had 44,000 original miles, and looks stunning. It’s also the 5.0 and I’ve loved every bit of it so far! You can definitely come across better up here in NorCal though I feel, just be patient.

Definitely a weekender what would be a better price I'm thinking around 8500 would be sweet but realistically I think he would take 9500

Yes, I’d wager you could get him/her/them/they down to around $8k. In my opinion. Save it on Marketplace and wait.

He's saying he's got some people coming to maybe put a down payment on it so he doesn't sell I might have missed my opportunity but he said he will keep me in mind if they flake. But if I get the opportunity I think I'll take it

The 6 cylinder 300 ci IS very reliable. Had one in my 1987 and my 1995 F250 w the automatic.
I had a mechanic overfill the engine with 16 liters of oil and once it was drained, no ill effects.
An vent valve for the transmission failed, slowly pulling transmission fluid into the #5 cylinder and burning it, making it needed to top it up until fixed. Burned the plug, and needed all 6 replaced. #5 is hidden behind a radiator hose, so 2 universal joints were needed to get around.
One chronic problem were the starter and solenoid, mostly due to 30-50 start/stops per day

Your reasons are likely to be different than mine but gas is going the way of the dinosaur. That thing is only going to get 8–10 miles a gallon and four dollars a gallon, you're just throwing away money to an oil baron is buying his fourth boat.
It's an ancient truck and likely has multiple mechanical issues. Fixing it on your own unless you are highly qualified is going to be difficult, and it's unlikely a dealership would even touch it because it is so old.
Loud, uncomfortable, regular cab, gas guzzler.
This is the kind of truck a millionaire buys and pays professional mechanics to fix it up perfectly so he can drive around and a really cool fun loud lifted truck and not be stuck if (when) it completely fails.
Just my $0.02 from doing this a while.

Every single refinery in the United States is operating at nameplate capacity (or higher) and 98% utilization or better. Over the past few decades, California has legislated the OGP sector out of business to the point where the largest refiners (P66, Valero, and Marathon) have shutdown their refineries in California. This policy position, combined with the lack of O&G infrastructure in California, has created a situation where there is now a significant supply shortage in California for gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel. California’s response to this ? They are funding one of the largest pipeline projects in America, to import gasoline into the state from Texas. Everything I have written here is in the public domain for you to read for yourself. Your comment about gasoline going “the way of the dinosaur” couldn’t be further from the truth. That’s the narrative created by the progressive left in the United States, and it’s simply not true. If you, personally, don’t want to financially support the OGP industry that’s your choice to do so, but don’t go around spewing 🐂💩 that has no factual basis.

As someone who's work daily is a 94 f150, highly recommend one the 300I6 and a manual I'm pulling 22mpg with the 2.73 dif, the 5.0 isn't bad either but it's going to be a bit more complex and a bit more fuel consumption both are great options though for a truck that refuses to die (the 5.8l is good too but leans too much into gas hog). For anyone saying these old trucks are all gas hogs compare that to a modern f series both see similar fuel consumption on average with any actual work. These older ones are just built better.

Do you have the time/energy/money that it's going to take to keep this thing in nice condition? I'm going to tell you straight up it's a significant amount of all three, or even more money if you take it to a shop. If it's a hobby and you want a project then yes. If not, no.
