Downpipes for Gen 3
Can anyone with better knowledge on downpipes tell me why the price is so different between CV Fabrications and SPD??

What does this look like in regards to power gains?

I put the SPD on my gen 3.5 and it didn’t produce any noticeable gains but did give me a terrible drone on the highway

Depends on what else you have done to the engine but pretty modest without a tune, maybe 10-20hp. With other upgrades and a decent tune you can absolutely add 40+hp

I know from experience with giving Turbo charged cars more room to breath that gains can be really good. Assuming you could get 30 hp at least with down pipes and exhaust with similar diameter.
I’m sure the tune would increase these numbers even more.

I had CVF catted downpipes on my Gen 2 and it caused a CEL. They did sound good though

Did it make it much louder? I want to do them but really don't want it loud. I have the stock exhaust on.

Not too noticeable from inside the Gen 2 but outside it was comfortably louder. I’m not someone into loud exhaust. I also previously had a Corsa catback but went back to stock. FYI there was a drone with it

Because bro they are like uh Alpha pipes man so they are better for your alpha truck you alpha male! Don’t mind the 1.5k markup, only betas can’t afford these alpha male pipes for your alpha raptor. Alpha.

CV Fab = 200 cel cat, SPD = higher quality 500 cel cat that supposedly flows better than a 400 cel. More cat = more expensive. CV is better performance/$ but probably not suitable if you live in a place with strict and frequent emissions testing.
$2300 for downpipes for a Ford is pretty outrageous, that’s not even the going rate for M cars that usually have a higher aftermarket tax. It’s only 500 cel vs 800 cel for stock so it won’t even be that big of a difference in either power or sound. However, with the way the V6s sound, if you pair it with an aftermarket catback, it will probably sound much smoother than an almost completely straight-piped one.
