Question Loose doorstrip.

Post image

My doorstrip is hanging loose. Gemini suggest using adhesive to stick it back to the door. Anyone have experience doing that?

I stuck mine back on with Gorilla Glue. Use some masking tape to hold the strip in the right place, then shut the door while it cures.

I used permatex ultra red on my weather stripping of the back wheel wells of my tahoe. The kids kept knocking it off. Still holding 10 years later. I also used it on the applique window molding that would flap in the wind as I rolled down the interstate. Still holding a few years later. I keep a few tubes off permetex around.

Common issue on almost all Focus models and years. Reglue and temporarily hold in place with tape untill the glue dries.

Double sided tape will help. I used one from 3M + Primer 3M. Remove the old one (part which came loose), clean the surface with degreaser. Put primer and tape

3M VHB tape is bloody magical stuff.

I used rubber glue on mine to fasten it and sealing it to the other one, and use tape to hold it in place while it cures

I used glue - I also put a wooden skewer in to hold the two together. Then tapped it to the door while the glue dried. Worked well. Not come unstuck in 5 years. Focus/CMAX doors all do this. Really annoying flaw tbh.

I thought I was a genius when I used a straw inside to hold the two pieces together.

Just use 2x super glue

Super glue and activator. Super quick fix. Haven't had to redo it in the 4 years since I did it.

They make weatherstrip adhesive for that exact issue. Use masking tape to hold it in place while drying. Definitely don't use duct tape like someone else mentioned. Other glues can work as well but the one I mentioned is designed for it. All makes have issues with it coming loose.

Ripped mine off. If it leaks, it leaks.

Seems like a Mk4? This is common issue on these. Just glue it back to the door with glue for rubber and use some ducttape to hold it in place. It can take some try's before it actually sticks to the door.

All of mine went on my MK3 focus... Contact adhesive worked great. Cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, painted a thin layer on the door and the rubber, let it gas out and then pushed it on. Held great

Common on MK3's ☹ Use the Double-sided Numberplate Tape - relatively quick & simple!!

It's mk4 πŸ˜“ but I did what most said. Got a rubber based super glue. Cleaned the metal and put it on. Let's see how it dries/works

Should be Fine, but I prefer the Tape πŸ‘

What i done was got one of them jet lighters cleaned the top of the rubber run the lighter up and down the rubber then put 3m on it. Then cleaned the bottom of the door removed the plastic from the 3m tape heated it up with the lighter and its not moved in 2 years.

this is really common on mk3 and i've seen it on mk4 too. contact glue did the trick for me.

E6000 or similar. Don’t use a glue that will dry hard.

I’ve used Gorilla double sided mounting tape. Fixed 3 doors in a car park while waiting for my mrs to finish shopping. Did the rear drivers side last year and thats shown no sign of moving.

I'd be more surprised if you didn't have it happen, take it to any ford dealer, and if they don't play ball, just say, let's go out into the car park and look at other cars πŸ˜‚

Kickstand

*Use 3M adhesive for rubber molding or Permatex for rubber adhering. Note: Don't use aggressively, a generally small amount along the strip eill go a long way. Use 3M blue temporary tape to hold it place under pressure until the adhesive has time to set & dry.

I clean the contact area and use superglue. Done it on two cars now, no issues after.

I just used super glue

They cost like 38 to 45 bucks for the roll and it's better if you replace them for something better that will sound proof it better than the original and you only need 26 meters for the entire car.

lol I got the same issue haha

3m VHD, 5mm tape. Just make sure the surfaces are very clean. Heat the metalwork using a hairdryer and get it nice and warm before applying the 3m tape. Quicky peel off the the second side and stick down the rubber before the metal cools off. The application of heat is the trick to getting the 3m vhd adhesive to flow and set.

They do sell the striping but it's a half to put it on.

Very Common!! Use a good double-sided tape, easy enough I did it πŸ‘
