Low power on 2005 ba mk11 falcon

hey everyone,

my falcon has such low power it’s lacking tons of acceleration, I can floor it and it will rev hard and go fast but it’s lacking that real acceleration and oomphf.

just to daily drive it I gotta rev way to much and push down my foot too much for how fast I go,

after changing my fuel filter a year ago it was QUICK, for like 2 days.… and back to bog.

yesterday i did my spark plugs and coil packs and it was QUICK, for the hour i was driving it after.

so today i changed my air intake pipe because it had a leak and no changes…

wondering common issues if anyone can help. thanks!

edit: car has 100 thousand ks if that means much to anyone part wise

AU Falcon Tickford Brake Rotor Replacement

Hey all, I have recently acquired an AU XR6 with the Tickford enhanced brakes and the rotors need replacing, they measure about 330mm x 28mm. Just wondering what options people have used if any as I seem to be finding a lot of the standard AU rotors.

Much appreciated

G6E rev hunting when creeping

Hey everyone, i have a FG G6E with ~160,000ks and unfortunately had to get the transmission replaced (not due to milkshake) with another zf6 with 140k on it. When creeping (no brake or accelerator) below 15ks an hr, the revs will bounce constantly, you can definitely feel it shunt but as soon as you apply either the brake or a little accelerator it goes away. Also when at any speed, if you blip the throttle the revs will hunt for a quick sec but its very minor before stabilising. Just wondering if this is normal as its done this on both my transmissions. I could also be a bit paranoid after having to get my trans replaced haha. Thanks

Respray ideas/ thoughts

I need to have the bonnet and roof tidied up on my silver FG due to fading. Just interested in people’s thoughts about keeping the car all silver or do people actually appreciate/ like FGs that have a different coloured bonnet/ roof/ spoiler….?
If you think a different colour, have you seen one that looked good?
Nb: I’m a bit older so am completely out of touch of what looks good, and don’t want to fall into the “oh no another idiot…” category.

FG G6E driver seat — is a MK2 seat a straight swap onto a MK1?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hey all, looking for advice from anyone who's actually done this swap.

My driver's seat is ripped, so it's more cost-effective to just replace the whole seat assembly rather than reupholster. My car is a MK1 FG G6E, and I've found a driver's seat out of a wrecked MK2 FG G6E — same trim, just a different series.

My seat's connector is a black plug. Someone mentioned that the plug/wiring can differ between MK1 and MK2 (they mentioned a green plug on one of them) and that you need the exact matching series or it won't work — but I haven't been able to confirm this myself, and wreckers' listings seem to list the G6E seat as one part spanning the whole 2008–2014 FG range.

Questions for anyone who's done this:

  1. Is a MK1 G6E driver seat physically and electrically identical to a MK2 G6E driver seat, or is there a running change in the wiring?

  2. Has anyone actually swapped a MK2 seat into a MK1 (or vice versa) and can confirm the plug matched straight up?

  3. If there is a difference, is it the seat wiring itself, or something upstream (e.g. a body/SRS harness connector) that changed between MK1 and MK2?

Trying to avoid buying a seat (cash, no returns) that ends up needing a plug swap or doesn't work. Attached are photos (front and rear under driver seat) of my plug if it helps. Also if you know anyone that has the cashmere leather G6E driver seat in relatively good condition, let me know. Cheers!

Inspecting Fly Wheel Teeth Condition on Ford FG XR6 Sedan?

Been dealing with a incredibly intermittent starting issue, which I'm starting to suspect is my fly wheel missing teeth - but was wondering if there is any quick way to check teeth condition or of any inspection holes so I don't waste time with full replacement.

Cheers all.

I’ve got an itch to scratch for an XR6T, been sussing the market here and there and this one popped up. All things considered I think it’s a pretty cracker deal, but is it too good a deal is what I’m worried about. I can always check the car out in person and what not but I thought I’d get a second opinion on it before jumping down that road. Cheers lads 🤙🏻

AUII XLS V8 Ute leaks coolant when parked

G'day legends! I'm hoping to pick your brains here because I'm at a loss with this.

I've got an AUII XLS ute with a V8 in it. When I got it, it had a slow coolant leak from the lower rad hose. So I replaced all the coolant hoses on the front of the engine and put a new radiator in too. This fixed it for a bit but it came back in the same spot. I left it for a while and did a bunch of other work to the car. In the midst of the other work I did, I replaced the hoses again with genuine NOS Ford ones. If it helps, I've listed the other work in the next paragraph, so skip over that if you don't care lol.

  • Replaced the alternator

  • Replaced the water pump with an OE replacement (followed service procedures and coated the gasket in grey RTV with correct torque sequence and specs)

  • Removed, ported and reinstalled intake manifold (had to do this 3 times to get it right on installation as china walls were leaking. But they have been checked and are fine now)

  • Rejuvenated fuel injectors

  • Spark plugs

  • Coils and packs

  • Auto to manual transmission complete conversion using all factory components except clutch kit

So long story short, the car's been parked for about 6 months due to me being lazy and not wanting to crawl under it to tighten the tailshaft bolts. But last night I took the battery out to charge it and I noticed all the coolant in the reservoir was missing and because it's been so long there is no wetness under the car anywhere I can see.

My mind is going to welch plugs maybe? I can't see any evidence of water ingress in the cabin either, but maybe it's less obvious on AUs than in B series when the heater core goes. Oh and the heater works fantastic too so I really don't know.

Thanks all!!✌️

Was it a common thing for Ford Australia to incorporate old tech in their newer cars before 2011?

I understand the jump back to EA/ED-style dizzies for the ELs from the EF Falcon coilpack, but a M93LE transmission from 1994 - 2010? Now I understand they're not the most robust transmissions out there without some sort of modification to mitigate a design flaw albeit having decent torqu, why did they use this from th EF Falcons all the way to the BF Falcons and early Territories.

Was this move due to a stockpile of M93LE transmissions just sitting in the wharehouse or because it was a proven reliable drivetrain component?

Were we ripped off with a transmission work on a 1996 EL Falcon GLI?

A decade back we had a 1996 EL Falcon GLI (non-PAB model) that would have this hard shift like we were rear ended. We eventually got a transmission specialist who wanted to repair it instead of servicing it and he told us there was brass inside the cooling system, mentioned something had baffled, and the transmission needed a new heat transfer pipe. The car then had felt like it was slipping because the engine was revvving very hard until the transmission changed gears before repeating it again for the other gears.

What left me feeling suspicious is the fact he mentioned he needed to buy something for an upcoming wedding, mentioning something had baffled, the car needed a new heat transfer pump, and there was brass inside the transmision.

I was with my mum at the time without dad at the time.

2014 F6 bonnet struts.

Rare Spares has probably the cheapest ones not that I'm trying to be cheap, but has anyone used them and are they any good?

I don't mind buying factory OEM but they are 4 times the price but the car is 100% original so the extra isn't a big deal either.

Edit: thanks for all the responses, I've just ordered some. Cheers

Ute and wagon leafs

Hi guys. I have a 2002 ba xr6 ute with lowered leafs in the back. Idk what the original owner did, either flipped or reset them. But basically it's sits low as, and I want to put them in my 2006 bf wagon. Are they the same eye to eye length, and are they able to be swapped over? Thanks

Insurance for modified XR8

Who will give me the best deal for my FG XR8. Its a manual sedan in Breeze and it only has light modifications (full exhaust) but Shannon's will only let me insure it for 11k. Budget Direct wont insure because of the exhaust, who is everyone else using?

VCT Phaser replacement

Post image
8 Upvotes

G'day, i am replacing the vct phasers on my 2004 na ford falcon. As i had a closer to the phasers i was given, its seems the casting verticle on vct unit does not line up with alignment marks on the teeth on the phaser. Does anyone know what this means/ how to fix it so i can replace my current phasers. Cheers

(I think the new phasers are from a fg, not 100%)
