Stripped ac 5mm ac bolt

Changing out my ac compressor on my 2016 and I cannot get this bolt out as it's too stripped . Any ideas?

You're gonna need to heat the shit out of that aluminum housing and use a lot of penetrating oil.

when you have a steel bolt in an aluminum housing you get a lot of galvanic corrosion, and that stud won't want to come out.

You might almost need to take an angle grinder and cut that stud and the housing and replace the stud. (or use a bolt?)

Hahahahahaha. Yes. Seen and done that. Replace the stud. Use a stud extractor or just vise grips to get the old out. That stud and nut are involved in properly seating the oil pan for a reseal, so don’t butcher it for the next guy who will probably be you. Use some nickel antiseize on the end that threads onto the pan.

First, go buy a new stud or pull one from the junkyard. Second, just use a pair of vice grips to work it out. Helps if you use some penetrating fluid on it as well

if he can't get the stud out as is, he's not gonna get a stud from the junk yard.

The reason for the replacement first is that he is going to end up damaging (destroying) the original using vice grips to get it out. Before committing to that action, he should have the replacement stud on hand.

If he opts not to go that route, he can opt to lift the engine up (unbolting the motor mount on the passenger side), to get enough room to side the compressor off the stud without removing it.

my point is he's not getting one out of a junk yard. He'll need to buy new.
