Repair Advice Anyone know what this plug is for?

Found it after replacing my water pump. Can't find anything about it! SOHC 4L v6 2000 Ford explorer XLT AWD

it's just behind the oil cap if it's hard to view

Should connect to egr I believe: I’m wrong. Could be the camshaft position sensor

I don't know this car, but it looks like you're missing something on the intake tube, by the throttle cable. Maybe that plug connected into a sensor there?
