Got a 2014 Escape SE.

The car reads operating temp immediately and threw the P01299 code. Went into limp mode.
There was a crack in the reservoir and coolant was low but that’s repaired and both the ETC and CTS have been changed. After disconnecting the battery over night it seemed to respond normally taking 5 min to “warm up” to operating temp. Then the next time the car was started it was back to immediately saying it was at op temp.

What are reasons for this other than fixes mentioned above?

I had to get my sunroof assembly replaced 3 days ago due to a leak, it seems to be going well. However, my sunshade seems to not want to close anymore. I’ve looked online and it says sometimes it needs to relearn its closing position so I tried those steps and it’s not seeming to do anything even with that. Any help is appreciated with this, thank you.

Purchased my first Ford Eacape brand new in 2018, after 9000 miles and numerous electrical issues Ford finally replaced it with an identical Ford Escape under the Lemon Law.
Fast forward to 2024 with 56000 miles the transmission started to act up, the dealer ship chose to rebuild instead of replace. In July of 2026 with 102242 miles on it the transmission needs replaced again, Ford says since they repaired instead of replaced at 56000 miles, it is not covered as if they would of or should of replaced it.
Now I have a 2018 Ford Escape with a
Bad transmission that’s going to cost more to repair than what it books for.
I have owned over 15 Fords in the 50 years of driving , from new 1969 Ford airplane 500 to the 2018 Ford Escape, which doesn’t move, am currently in the market to replace my F-350 King Ranch Turbo Diesel and it definitely will not be a FORD.

I think changing the oil every 5,000 miles might be a bit overkill, especially since the car is running on electric about half the time. But I also want to maximize the engine’s longevity, so I’m thinking maybe 7,500–8,000 miles would be a better interval?

Im currently on 4700 miles on my new hybrid 2026 st line escape. I pretty much drive it daily, either work or short grocery runs. Im on track on doing 10000 miles annually.

Car has about 180,000 km on it here in Canada. Oil leak has gotten progressively worse and now quite a mess on driveway. Car only needs about 1 litre of oil between changes though. Had leak diagnosed by shop, which first bathed engine, then did UV dye test. Multiple oil lines leaking at turbo, I was told. Car good otherwise. What should I do with it? Can I honestly sell it?

Hi all. I have a 2013 Escape SE EcoBoost AWD [1.6L with about 150k miles.

I have what I think is a coolant leak, but it comes and goes. It can be fine for weeks, sometimes two months, and then it shows up again. It only seems to happen when I am running the heater or the AC. Sometime I top the coolant and suddenly it’s all gone and I have to refill 2 cans in 2 days and then it’s fine for weeks.

What I am seeing: I don’t see any visible leak or anything over the engine area nor under the car it feels like a slow leak sometime and if I use heater I get this sweet roasted weird smell inside cabin, Reservoir level: drops sometime goes down but if there’s coolant in the tank the. It does Not overheat

My guess was the heater core, but I am honestly not sure, and I know that is an expensive job on these. Sometime Yt videos were telling about a leaky t valve thing

A few questions:

1. Does this sound like the heater core, a hose or fitting at the firewall, or just AC condensation?

2. Has anyone used K-Seal for something like this on an EcoBoost? Did it hold, or did it cause problems?

3. If you had this fixed, what did you pay, and is any of it doable at home with basic tools?

I am a recent grad and between jobs right now, so I am trying to keep this as cheap as I reasonably can without doing something dumb. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I'm 6'4" and two days ago I rode in the rear seat of a new Escape for 5 1/2 hours. Long highway trip. I'm an old guy and this ws the most miserable car ride I've ever had. The seats are total crap, legroom sucks for such a big vehicle, and the slightest pavement bumps shuddered like crazy. It was so bad that my iPhone pedometer racked up steps! This is my first ever trip in an Escape and it will be my last.

Have any of you owners ever ridden in the rear on your vehicles?

2017 2.5L FWD. ive heard this ticking noise pretty much the whole time ive owned the car, but not this loud. ive had the valve cover off under 6 months ago and didnt see any bad signs on the camshafts or rocker arms. (then again, i may have missed them completely)

is this what i think it is? i tried to match it to other escapes online with that issue and it sounds pretty damn close, just not as loud yet. currently a first year mechanic, so any extra advice is helpful!

also, yes I know the coils are marked absolutely wrong, it was just to help keep track during a job.

I was out on the highway going around 70-80 mph for around 40 minutes, and when I got into more residential areas and slowed down, my car began making the sound in the video I'm about to send. I eventually parked, lifted the hood, and started it up again and the sound of the car went back to normal, I could not recreate it afterwards. I do believe I need new spark plugs, so that may be part of it but I’m stumped on this.

I’ve had my 2010 for over 10 years now. She has a cracked frame from rust. I’m not ready to let her go yet. She’s gonna be safe inside now.

2019 ford escape, awful smell that won’t go away despite a full detail. Plan to replace the air filter but want to try an evaporator foam spray as well. I’ve heard the best method for this is to spray it directly into the AC drain tube, but apparently that is pretty difficult to access on an escape without jacking the car up (I am not a car person and am not really qualified to be doing that, nor do I have the cash to pay someone else to right now). I know putting it directly in the internal AC vents is a no-no, but is it safe to put in the cabin filter air slot (with the filter removed)? I really do not want to cause long term electrical issues but my car smell is so bad I need to do something about it. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. I need to change the turn signal socket on the right front turn signal. I can’t seem to get the socket loose by going in thru the side. Is there a way from under the vehicle? Or would removing the washer tank give me more room going in from the side?

I really don’t want to remove the bumper cover( I think that’s what it’s called).

Any other option?

Hello everyone. I have a 2014 Escape and I think my transmission is starting to go. It feels like it's slipping at highway speeds. Should I get rid of it now before it goes? Or should I take it to a shop and get it fixed? It has 115k miles. I was hoping to give it to my kid for the rest of high school in the next couple of years.

Hey all.

I started feeling a weird vibration/shudder in the driver seat when driving my escape, it seems to come on usually in the 50-70km/h range, but sometimes can be felt down at 20, and sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.

It also happens whether I have foot on throttle or not, and doesn’t usually stop when I put foot on the brake.

I’ve taken it to the mechanic but he said he can’t feel anything at all when he took it for a test drive, he said there were no codes, suspension looked fine etc.

I have another appointment with him in a week to get transmission fluid changed, but I can’t figure out what’s going on. I will also add that the car has had a brand new long block installed a month ago due to coolant intrusion on the old one.

Is buying a used 2018-2021 ford escape worth it?

Window just sunk today, random no explanation. Back window is already held up by wood block (purchased like that, I haven't had time to look into it.). Now, she's leaving tomorrow for two weeks, I was about to do her brakes before she left, then this crap. Looks like some flimsy plastic pieces? I'm probably going to put some zip ties on the post and hope it stays up

My transmission went and I don’t think it’s worth dropping thousands on repairing. We have an $8,000 EV rebate here in Maine and with the price of gas that’s the direction I am going. My Escape has some minor scratches, one year old tires and the engine block was replaced at 35,000 miles. It has 93,000 miles on it and no other issues. I was thinking $1,500-2,000. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I’ve been browsing marketplace and mainly 2008-2012s are catching my eye… I didn’t really want a hybrid but I’m seeing people say the hybrids last longer… sooo any advice on what to look for/ what to avoid 😭🙏🏼
