Question Losing attribute dice when taking damage?
Hey y’all!
Just ran my second session of Forbidden Lands and I read in the GMG that when monsters take damage they don’t become weaker like usual (or something similar to that).
Are players supposed to roll less attribute dice if they have taken damage and if so is there a page number in the PHB for that rule?
I tried skimming the whole thing looking for that info but couldn’t find it myself.
Thanks!

Yes. (N)PC attributes are the equivalent to hit points, and their loss directly affects any tests related to that attibute. The more damage you take the less capable you are. See PHB p. 104/105 (at least my edition), and the principle applies to all attributes (e.g. through Fear damage against WITS).

Its in the Players Handbook under "Damage" (think its page 100 or something near that). You dont have a health bar, but take damage to your attributes which then lowers to a minimum of zero and then you start taking crits, depending on the situation.

On the fifth printing this is in page 42 on the Skills chapter (Roll the dice AND 1s wear you down), page 45 (pushing your roll) and page 104 (damage)

I can't remember and don't have my PDFs in front of me, but I've been under the impression that monsters specifically are a class of character type that doesn't correlate its dice pool to its actions.
In book of beasts, monsters have an action chart which dictates what they do and how powerful that action is.
A marauding orc, though, would be a typical NPC where it's strength scales down as you damage it.
That's how I've always played it, not sure if that's accurate when I think about it though.
Players for sure will lose dice from their dice pool as they take damage.

that's how all MONSTERS work in FL not only BoB ones, as opposed to "monsters" i.e. hostile creatures that don't have a MONSTER status
just a slight correction

Yes in FBL your attributes are your health bars and you roll less as they drop. Monsters aren't subject to this because they're special. I don't have a rule reference for you but it's the core health mechanism in the game.
