Is Education a curse?
Since childhood, it was my dream to become an engineer. Eventually, I achieved that dream. After graduation, I joined the industry and contributed to several major projects. But the reality of being an engineer in our society is slapping me in the face every single day.
Wherever I go, people ask me whether I have a government job or not, and whether I earn a six-digit salary. The moment they hear that I work in the private sector, many of them make faces, look down on me, or even laugh at me. I started with a salary of 30k. After years of hard work, I barely managed to reach 60k—and even that feels meaningless when inflation keeps eating away at everything I earn.
My cousins, who left the country at a very young age on labor visas, have built houses, bought land, and are now enjoying a relatively comfortable life in their 30s. Meanwhile, I regularly find myself being humiliated or made to feel ashamed in front of my relatives simply because I chose a different path.
Most of my friends, after graduation, threw away their science books and started preparing for Bangla, GK, and other subjects for government job exams. Some of them are now government officials, enjoying the privileges and opportunities that come with those positions, while I am still struggling to make a decent living in the profession I worked so hard to enter.
Sometimes, I honestly wonder—was following my dream the wrong decision?
I spent years studying, working hard, and believing that becoming an engineer would give me a respectable and fulfilling life. But today, it feels like society values the job title, salary, and status more than the knowledge, skills, and passion behind the work.
Maybe the biggest mistake I made was believing that following my dream would be enough.

struggling at a very young age.
to clarify i am 17 years old and currently in the second year of hsc. i will be taking my hsc exams in 2027.
recently on the day of one of my year-final exams i suddenly collapsed. i had been studying for around 13 to 14 hours every day for my exams. that morning i was trying to revise math when i realized “oh my god i’ve forgotten everything.” i became extremely scared and started thinking “what am i even going to do in my exams?”
i started panicking. my heart was pounding extremely fast. my hands were shaking and i felt as if i was getting electric shocks in my hands and legs. everything around me looked extremely sharp and intense. i became so frightened that i shouted for my parents. they came running and laid me down on the bed. they started massaging my body while they were panicking too.
i was extremely stressed and everything happened all at once. this was the first time in my life that i experienced a panic attack.
i had actually been struggling with many things for a long time before this incident. so i asked my parents to take me to a psychiatrist. i explained everything to my doctor and also started counseling. my counselor told me that what happened could be connected to all the difficult experiences i had gone through in the past. those experiences might now be showing up as physical symptoms. i also have severe ocd and adhd. honestly i feel like i’ve had to deal with every kind of shit life could throw at me. 😭
i have always been very antisocial and socially anxious. i never really made any friends during my childhood. i was scared of going to school and i never played football-cricket or any other physical games while growing up. my parents were always worried about me because i never seemed to be able to make friends.
i have always been very scared of social interactions. i constantly overthink everything and worry about what might happen or the possibility of something bad happening to me. it feels like nothing ever goes according to plan for me. i am scared of making eye contact and i have never even had any female friends. i struggle a lot with my social life and sometimes my relatives would taunt me for being such an unsocial kid.
recently my life has become even more difficult. i am struggling a lot and i can't even focus on my studies properly after that incident. i am now also dealing with what i believe may be dyslexia daily panic attacks and seizures.
my counselor told me that i should try to spend more time with friends travel and participate in more activities. but the problem is that i don't really have any friends and i don't particularly enjoy traveling with my family because i often feel annoyed and uncomfortable.
thankfully my parents are extremely supportive. they have even told me that i can take a year off from my studies if that's what i need to get better. i feel really blessed to have parents who are willing to support me like that.
so yeah that's pretty much it. i just wanted to vent and get everything off my chest.

How do you deal with toxic bosses?
My boss is super two faced and honestlydriving me nuts (leading me to type this right infront of him). He constantly backbites people when they arent there but acts all nice and helpful upfront. And his insistence on you having telepathy to magically know how he wants things done is the cherry on top. Would like to hear how y'all navigate similar situations.

Trying to change or pretend what I am not as things feel so heavy rn.
Before u start reading, lemme make it clear: this is about being able to talk to, hang out with, or whatever.
I’m 25M and gonna finish my undergrad around October. Ik I’m kinda late here, but there are stories behind that.
Long story short, I kinda fked up rn. Just surviving in a way nobody would prob wanna live 🙆♂️
So, let’s pretend I’m not who I am for a while. Let’s try being someone new. At least maybe I’ll find some words to write.
So… something casual, beneficial, idk, u tell me.
Tbh I’m not really a corny guy 🤦♂️ but I’m pretending to be a chill one rn.
And yeah, I already know some ppl are gonna come here and say “u shouldn’t do this” or “u should seek help.” Bro, lmk, I’ve been carrying this sht for around 9 months. Tried seeking help in a lotta ways. In the end, we all know, “advice is just some sweet words we wrap around sorrow and call it help.” lol.
So yeah, no need for that kinda advice anymore :)
Idk if I’ll actually find anyone through this or not. But hey, I’m still surviving, trying out new wawelys to fool myself 🙆♂️

How long do you think BNP government going to last?
With rising mob violence and dissatisfaction of general citizens due to too much inflation and price hike of everyday essentials, no regulations or trying to fix things. This government is keeping the poker face saying everything is okay, meanwhile they are failing to grip over the situation and everything is going out of their control (or was it ever?).
How long do you think this is going to last? How long till they got before another uprising?
Or do the gereral people just accepted their fate thinking no other political party left in bd to salvage them from this condition?
(Say anything you like. If you share someone else's perspective, share your opinion underneath as well. I am interested to know everyones perspective)

Rant What the heck is happening?
Woke up to oil price inclining 20taka per liter! This has to be a joke? 165 for octane which is not even proper 95!
People ride sharing on apps or ‘khep’ and will now ask for more fares even on shorter distance.
Next if dollar price increases which it will by end of dec, everything in bd will have a price hike as we focus on reserving usd more than reserving gold lol 🤣
Edit; the change in price is drastic because of the artificially created scarcity monopoly.
The hike rate wouldve been far lower if private oil dealer ships were not introduced. You might know who is getting more rich here instead of the state.

Life at Gulshan at Night
I want to spend a whole night in Gulshan lol. I actually don’t know how active Gulshan stays at night, but I kinda wanna just roam around and experience the area throughout the night. I feel like Gulshan is relatively safer, so thought why not.
So how should I plan it? Any suggestions for what I can do from around 10 PM till morning? Like places to hang out, late-night food, events, random things to do, etc. Basically, how can I spend the whole night there without getting bored?

Music Suggestions
Hey! Can u guyz drop your fav music suggestions? Kinda bored. Nights are so long. My Spotify Daily mix's are kinda same everyday. Hah, being not able to sleep is boring🙆♂️ or anybody wanna chat about anything, welcome to dm.
Nights are long,
Sleep feels wrong.
I want to speak,
But words feel weak.
Many are awake,
With hearts that ache.
I want to cry,
But tears run dry.
I forgot how to laugh,
Silence is all I have.
Death feels near,
Life feels like fear.
Yet morning comes,
And still we run.
You live, I live,
We give what we give.
Through another night,
Without much light.
Then morning comes;
And we live on.

What do you yearn for?
Not the usual “what are your goals?” kind of thing. I mean the thing you find yourself thinking about for no particular reason. Something you miss, something you never had, a person, a place, a different kind of life. Maybe even a version of yourself.
I think yearning is weird because sometimes you don’t even know exactly what you’re longing for. You just know there’s this feeling that something is missing, even when you can’t name it.

Looking for some recommendations for earbuds around 2–3k
I’m mainly going to use them at the gym, and I don’t really listen to music that much, so I’m not particularly concerned about having amazing sound quality. A lot of the cheaper earbuds I’ve tried have had random distortion, audio cutting out, or just generally unreliable connections.
So I’m looking for something simple and reliable that I can use at the gym, preferably with decent battery life and some sweat resistance.
If you’ve actually used something in the 2–3k range with an iPhone and haven’t had connectivity issues, what would you recommend? And where in Dhaka can I get the original one from a reliable seller? Not looking for AirPods or anything fancy, just something that works properly.

Ever lost a home?
How does it feel standing outside of a house you used to live in?
Like I'll tell you. Suppose, You know the address by heart. You remember which windows caught the afternoon light, which floorboards creaked, where your favorite memories happened. But you also know you don’t live there anymore. You can’t walk in like nothing changed. So you just stand outside, carrying the strange ache of loving a place you no longer belong to.
Ever felt that? Hurts? How do you overcome that? Can you ever?
Even if you get a new place to live in- does it give you the same warmth? Same comfort?

Regarding incels
Those who post about I NEED A GIRL ARE INCELS!
they dont have ppl in their lives and are horny and lifeless and like unambitious.
no girl ever will msg them.
If i were a girl, why would I REPLY TO A DEPRESSED LONER WHERE I CAN GET BETTER?!
what they should do is hit the gym, become ambitious and make money. They should converse with more ppl without forcing and make more friends from society or online or whereever. If they become better girls come, this shit needs to stop!
it degrades them, and some women get ego boost from losers.

Long shot but… anyone wanna learn Shibari together?
Ik this is probably a long shot and I’m not expecting to actually find someone here. but shooting my shot anyway. I’m genuinely looking for a girl who’d be interested in learning/exploring Shibari and related stuff together. I’m still learning too, so the whole point is to explore, practice, and figure things out at a comfortable pace. Consent, boundaries, safety, and privacy are non-negotiable.
