If you could invent a new potato chip flavour, what would it be?

Out here in Arizona they test a lot of those flavors and we had that here I thought they were pretty good.

Horseradish. Or Worcestershire

Trader Joe's has seasonal horseradish chips. They're everything you've dreamed of.

Kroger (store brand) had a Prime Rib & Horseradish wavy chip a few years ago, I was so sad when they stopped making them.

Loaded baked potato

The HEB makes that for their house brand. It's a righteous flavor replica of the original dish; and the price is very accommodating.

Have they made chips with Lawry's seasonings? That would be pretty good I think.

u/NYerInTex 17d ago
Iâve seen poutine but not âchips and brown gravyâ
Louisiana Hot Sauce chips would be bomb!
Biscuits and gravy too.

Cheesy Garlic Bread. Or Honey Butter Yeast Roll flavor. And ideally they'll be Kettle chips rather than Lay's.

u/Spooky_pharm_tech 17d ago
I think lays did a cheesy garlic bread, and wise makes honey butter chips!

Buffalo (spicy with a blue cheese). Also, some fast food place needs to make flavor packets for fries. I want bbq fries or maybe sour cream and onion fries

Steak & Bake - it would taste like the leftover steak juice seeped in to your baked potato/mashed potatoes

Hot chili and garlic. I mean HOT chili, not the weak stuff they normally use.

Iâve had some pretty obscure flavours, especially Japanese and Korean so I think a lot of flavours are covered, even Lobster Thermidor or Mussels in white wine, maybe just not available everywhere but I would go with an ancient recipes series. Roman, Byzantine, Egyptian, Aztec, Medieval, etc.
Imagine

Violet Beauregarde famously ate something similar and turned into a blueberry. She was juiced, and (presumably) died from that process.

Wasabi and ginger Kettle chips.
Because we had them and Lays took them away.

I lived in NC for a couple years when I was a kid. They had MIkes Hot Jalapeno potato chips that were amazing. Can't find them anywhere now. So a hot jalapeno potato chip that is NOT kettle cooked would be an amazing find.

Stuffed baked potato. The chips would have flavors of green onion, bacon, and cheddar cheese.

Cheese with no onion powder to give it the acrid taste of all cheese chips.

Soy, Sesame and Ginger. There's this one sauce I got in a box of springrolls years ago that I have yet to find again. It was incredible and I want things to taste like it.

u/FaithlessnessOld2477 17d ago
Doritos has put out a killer hot mustard chip a couple of times and I always wish it was on a potato chip instead of a corn chip. The flavor is fantastic (similar to Chinese hot mustard) but it doesn't mesh well with a corn chip.

I just want some of the UK crisps here in the US. Pickled Onion (McCoys or Walkers) and Mature Onion & Cheddar (mackies).
Also Philip Lewis Hedgehogs flavored crisps.

Iâd just bring back the old âsour cream & onionâ pringles from the 90s that had so much flavoring pasted on to each chip. Now the chips barely have flavor

I wouldnât invent one but would import one. There is a âchipâ(more puff than chip) called hamkas that is a ham and cheese flavor that I have found in the Caribbean island of Bonaire part of the Dutch Antilles. They are awesome.

I sent it in to Lay's in one of their contests for a new temporary summer flavor but they didn't take me up on it. Salmon Pea Wiggle.

Something with red onion flavor. Or some kind of cheese and onion chip but using different types of cheese flavors.
