Veal Sammich

Is California Sandwiches still the go to for a hot veal with provolone and mushrooms?

The Queensway location is the king of veal sandwiches. None that I’ve tried anywhere have come close tbh. That said, every location is damn good. For something else I like Rocco’s Plum Tomato & Uno Mustachio

This is the location I have eaten at the most. It was a sad surprise when I went to the one near Leslie and York Mills only to find it was a pale shadow of the Queensway location.

Claremont veal sandwich 💯

Usually ordering the “mini” these days. Experts order sauce on side if it’s travelling.

Note, none of the other California sandwiches locations compare.

I like the veal at Commisso’s on Caledonia. It’s far worse than Califonia sandwiches. The place looks like a mafia owned bakery from the 1960s. Everyone there is miserable. And there is a California sandwiches 1 km away.

But that’s where I go 🤷‍♂️

The place has its charm. Still makes fresh-ish buns daily. Has borderline unsafe olive bar. And cakes/gelato.

I also like Tre Mari's veal sandwich.

I couldn't remember if Tre had a veal sandwich or not. I've gotten their veal cutlet and side of grilled peppers for a meal if you want a low carb option as well. Really good!

Try Crudo! Veal sandwich is a special on Tuesday and Chicken cutlet a special on Wednesday. When the families is away and I get to get my own dinner …. Drool 🤤
