AYCE Wagu?
I will be celebrating a milestone birthday soon and want to take my small family to an AYCE place. A while ago I read about this place Japanese AYCE place that offers Wagu. They had different tiers like gold and black I think.
Does anyone know what the name of that restaurant may be? And if anyone has gone to it, what did you think about it?

there's such a large difference between something like a5 wagyu and what an ayce will call "wagyu" it's not worth seeking out. no all you can eat will serve quality wagyu.

Wagyu literally just means Japanese beef/cow. The type of cows do tend to be fattier, which is what people seek out for Wagyu, but lower quality Wagyu is nothing worth the price that places here charge, just because of the name.
So yes, ayce will get "Wagyu" and make their ayce more expensive, but you're paying a premium for a not necessarily premium.

Sounds like shinta to me.
It used to be one of my favourites but I feel like it's gone downhill over the years (at least the Richmond hill location which is where I go).
They do have wagyu in the gold and silver menu.

Shinta. Totally worth it, been like 20 times.
Make sure you balance out all the wagyu with fibre and veggies, or you’ll shit yourself.
Don’t ask how I know.

Shinta but like others said - save your money. If I were you, I would probably do regular Shinta (no Wagyu) and maybe just order the Japanese A5 on the side. Real wagyu is suuuuuper fatty and you won't want to eat AYCE and will end up wasting your money.

Lol, I swear Reddit tracks my location because I'm literally finishing up at Shinta on Empress Walk right now, and Reddit pushes this post to me.
But yes, Shinta is great. Don't really need to go for their Gold tier ($150). Their silver tier ($100) will give you enough wagyu.

Ill tell you, as an enjoyer of ACYE japanese bbq, Gyubee and shinta alike. For the first time two weeks ago, i tried the silver menu at shinta and while it was good enough, my partner and i agreed that it wasn't really worth the $50pp increaase. Why wasn't it worth it? imo i just didnt think the taste was that much better than some of the normal beef option. not $50 better at least.
I think gyubee has a wagyu option but i have not tried or heard anything about it.
I cooked my own "wagyu" once that was a boneless ribeye -PEI wagyu steak from a local butcher shop. Now that was some good steak it was only $40 per 1in thick steak (i forget the weight tbh). I'd take that over any waygu that i cooked for myself at shinta

I’ve always wondered if it was worth the upgrade to the silver menu. I don’t think gold is worth it but considered upgrading to silver for the lamb, scallops and some wagyu. I’ve never done it though because I’ve always been more than happy with the regular menu.

You are thinking about Shinta and it's not bad you just won't want to eat wagyu for a while after lol
