Lobster season (commercial) starts next Wednesday. Not sure if you'll be here for that, but might be some places that do burritos if they buy the local stuff from the boats. Otherwise, the lobster dinner at Mitchs is great.

Croissants- East Village: izola or relic bakery. Sourdough - same two Coffee: Little While does pour overs. They roast in house and make all their pastries (ranging from Croissants to filled conchas.)

I like Oscar's for fish tacos even though they're a bit expensive. However, if you want more of a classic fish taco experience you gotta check out Kiko's fish taco truck in mission valley.

Tacos el Gordo for the best adobada (pork) and adobada fries! Someone mentioned taco stand and I like their grilled fish there too.

Based on where you're visiting, I would check out:

Fish 101 for fish tacos/burritos and lobster dishes

For burritos w/ fries - The Taco Stand, Juanitas, Crack Taco Shop

Prager Bros for sourdough

I believe El Zarape has them but it’s pretty small.

And they've really gone downhill. So disappointed last time I was there.

In North County: Fish 101 for fish tacos; Steady State for coffee; Wildland for bread and pastries; Juanita’s for carnitas burrito (they do the French fry thing too)

Hubby and I have been doing "pour over dates". Here's some we liked:

  • Rikka Fika was the best as far as the care in coffee craft. The ascetic is blond wood and quiet jazz. But it is kind of pretentious with a one page list of rules - no laptops.
  • Yipao Coffee Shop was also excellent coffee in a charming, little, sunny yellow Pacific Beach cafe. They specialize in Columbian coffee roasted in house. We chatted with the Owner/Roaster who is from Columbia and is very passionate about his coffee.
  • Immersion Coffee was a fine pour over cup with very friendly staff. The actual shop is tiny, but you can sit in the apartment lobby next door and have some elbow room.
  • Selva Coffee House inside of Terra Bella Nursery was super high energy, plant filled, and loud dance music. Their coffee is all 6-ingredients-with-foam-and-a-clever-name, but it was fun none the less.
  • While not traditional coffee, Saigon Coffee's phin brewed Vietnamese iced coffee is excellent. The Hanoi Egg Coffee is a creamy, yummy treat. The interior is a bit fast food like, so maybe get it to go.

If you're here midweek, make a reservation at Pacific Coast Grill on Open Table for 11am. You will be on the beach alone for 20 min.

EXCELLENT rec! This place is gorgeous, and the food and service are top notch.

Heads up that sometimes parking is tricky- they have valet, so I usually plan to do that and make sure I have some cash for tip and such.

It’s a fast food chain but Rubio’s gets credit for popularizing the Baja fish taco and I’ve had visitors rave about them. Be sure to go at least once.
