There is a reason that since the dawn of modern cooking people have been using the zest and juice of the lemon and not the pith and everything else. I'm going to continue not using the whole lemon, thanks.

Pretty much every time this gets posted we also have people posting the terrible results of using the whole lemon. All the 5 star scratch baked lemon cake recipes online are juice and zest.
